Most romances include at least three different outcomes / closures: full fledged romance, breaking up and death. Lets ignore "breaking up".
- Liara: most likely happy end. No death included.
- Kaidan: happy ending possible, but also sad ending by death
- Ashley: happy ending possible, but also sad ending by death
- Miranda: not sure if there's a happy ending. Sad ending confirmed.
- Tali: happy ending likely. Sad ending confirmed.
- Garrus: not sure about happy ending. Sad ending confirmed.
- Jack: not sure about happy ending. Sad ending possible.
- Thane: happy ending difficult to achieve. Sad ending highly possible.
- Jacob: not sure about sad/happy ending at all
- Diana Allers: unknown
- James Vega: unknown
- Samantha: unknown
- Cortez: unknown
Yeah, something like that.

There's a happy ending for Thane? count me as surprised.
I think there's one, but obviously, it's the hardest one to get.
Other "sad endings" are really easy to get too. In at least one case (I won't say for what character) you can easily miss a certain dialogue - in that case that character might die later and you can't do anything against it.
So make sure to not miss any dialogues

Hmmm, my Renegade Shepard must hear everything Miranda will say then. My original idea was cheating her with a new LI on ME3 but I like them together so he will stay faithfull to Miri. Ash can eat her heart out (cheated her with Miranda

Nah, seriously ... you got my point regarding the "easy-to-achieve-sad-ending-with-a-certain-character".

Could be wrong, though.

Is the sad ending going to be an obvious choice like Virmire or not? I don't wanna accidentally kill off Kaidan just because Shepard chose the wrong pair of socks to wear that day.
No. There's no obvious decision except one regarding the VS. Okay, that's a double-decision, but still.
However, saving the VS is quite easy if you know what you're doing.

For the ME2 romances, all who did the ME2 romances will be left out in the rain and f*cked up the ass.
And as for the Liara and Team Dextro romances, the Reapers magically disappear and Sheppie has lots of kids with them under a triple rainbow.
This is due to Bioware's company policy of pandering to little kids.

I'd like to think that some of us older folks deserve a happy ending too you know? If I wanted to be depressed I'd go read "I have no mouth and I must scream"

@bold
Eh bro?
Yeah I agree. But of course, we gotta give in to the little kids all the time at our own expense...

Wait! Did I miss a M/M romance option on ME 2?

I expect a happy ending to be achievable for all the LIs with the possible exception of Thane. Though there is one big question mark I don't think I should even name in an open forum, so here's the
EXTREME SPOILER LINK. DO NOT CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!

I agree only insofar as discussion on an open forum goes. But all in all, it would be a misinformation to say that there is a happy end when it comes with conditions players would not want to fulfil for non-romance-related reasons.
Not saything that there are such conditions, of course. But it's possible.

This. So much this.
I haven't been playing this for 5 years to end up depressed. I'll read the paper when I want depression. Seems to me, it's the "little kids" who want everyone to suffer with them. I don't care if there are endings I don't like, as long as there are some I do like, love enough to replay the game many times.
