This is due to Bioware's company policy of pandering to little kids.

I'd like to think that some of us older folks deserve a happy ending too you know? If I wanted to be depressed I'd go read "I have no mouth and I must scream"

This.  So much this.

I haven't been playing this for 5 years to end up depressed.  I'll read the paper when I want depression.  Seems to me, it's the "little kids" who want everyone to suffer with them.  I don't care if there are endings I don't like, as long as there are some I do like, love enough to replay the game many times.

Or, you know, they want realism since it's an RPG.

I mean, my canon Shepard, I've yet to decide if I want her to die if that's a choice. If DA:O taught me anything, the hero dying is also a satisfactory ending as any other. Sure, you want a happy ending and that's okay, but stating that everyone else who wants a realistic ending are 'little kids' is hardly fair.

I mean, let's be honest. An army of ancient, super advanced Aliens is invading. I'd be insulted if there were no casualities.

With a bang.

Missing dialogue options having an effect on someone surviving or not is a bit problematic, but I like it. I want to not see deaths coming. In fact, I hope I feel like a wreck after finishing the game. But I still want a happy ending to be available for when I recover. Let's hope the game succeeds in moving me.

For Liara, Tali, Garrus and the VW will be a passionate moment right before the final battle.

With the rest of the ME2 romances it could be an email and Shepard giving him/herself pleasure with his/her right hand and some imagination.

Personally - not saying everyone who want a sad, depressing ending are kids, or kid like,  Just the ones who don't want any other ending included.  That, to me is childish.

I've got somewhere around 10 completed Shepard's, some watched their LI die in ME1 and 2;  some don't have a LI;  and some will have a LI in ME3.   I want different endings for them depending on what I did in the previous games and in the current one, and one of them had better be an ending where i can beat the bad guys, save as many of my crew as possible including any LI I may have.   :)

I'm old enough to have plenty of deaths in my past, friends, family, kids, adults, I don't need every ending in a video game to be depressing to know what it's like to lose someone you care about.  I play video games for entertainment, and I play BioWare video games for a good story and more than one ending choice.

I expect a happy ending to be achievable for all the LIs with the possible exception of Thane.

Why should Thane not get a happy ending? Get that man a damn transplant. His medical report outright says he's viable for one. It's not a cure, but it's something that could prolong his life.

If BioWare just force his death I will consider it lazy writing on their part since there are other avenues they can take that would be perfectly valid.

Feron for spare parts!

But yeah. Shepard and crew don't need to find a magical cure under a rock, Thane's life just has to be prolonged until the hanar cure (you know the one he spoke of during his very first conversation on the Normandy) becomes available.

I'm not saying it should be easy, or even that there shouldn't be some kind of sacrifice involved (but no Thane vs an entire planet or civilization pl0x, that's hardly fair and absurd to top it off. It would also be a very easy decision on my part, which would invalidate the difficulty such a decision was meant to provide). But it should certainly be possible for Thane to survive ME3.

I see no good reason why Thane shouldn't get a happy ending with Shepard, if everyone else gets one.

ACSHUALLY. Liara looks more like a slaughter lamb to me, which they carried all over the series just to spectacularly sacrifice her at the end. I dont have high hopes about her survival. ..

Since it's the end of the story, with no need to set up for any sequels and whatnot, I really hope there's a wide variety of options available, from happily ever after with any of the LIs (why make some ppl upset?), to Greek tragedy.

I believe it's been said that every (and ex) squad member will get some time in the spotlight, whether it be accompanying you for a quest or whatever.

Even if they're not with you for the entire game, your love interest will definitely get some time with Shep, things still have time to be resolved... and who knows? Their role might be far bigger than you'd expect!

Even if not, maybe they'll make an epilogue for the end of the game, sorta like Dragon Age: Origins? That way, there won't be any loose ends with romances or otherwise. Plus, summarizing the fate of each species seems a good way to end the series, letting you know the state of the galaxy and whatnot.

I'm excited to see how it plays out. It might encourage me go back to ME1/ME2 and make some new Sheps for romancin~. XD

You've been watching The Dark Knight a little too much... If that's possible.

Everyone would flip out.
