Just a thought but, perhaps the buying characters thing is demo only to allow all races to be used? As I'm pretty sure it was previously said that non human MP races would have to be unlocked by successfully finishing that race's quest in the main campaign (ie: screw up the Genophage mission somehow, no Krogan for you.)

On another note, I just discovered the soldier's frag nades are really powerful.

Further tangent: I started with the infiltrator[female] as my first character and thought, " this cannot get any better, this class is so OP." Then I started my Egineer run and wow, completely forgot all about the Infiltrator, the egineer owns! I just started a soldier and they're just as awesome!!! It seems to me like BW did a great job at making each class exceedingly reliable.

in terms of rareness, I have the viper sniper rifle at lvl VI, Scimtar at III, Salarian Infiltrator, Mattock II, and Phalanx III.

I just started playing mp today on ps3, despite the fact I'm switching over to 360 once the 17th rolls around. Only had early access for ps3 because that's what my bother got bf3 for.

As for my starter pack, I got a krogan soldier with 50000 xp ( lvl 3 ) , assault rifle mod, a cobra missle launcher ( which I've used already on an atlas ) , and one medi-gel. I believe that's everything.

I'm playing mostly infiltrator right now, but I took my krogan soldier out for a spin, and boy did I have a blast. Inferno grenades are sweet, and both of his melees are awesome. Now, everytime I kill an enemy with the krogan's headbutt, I'll say " you'll speak when spoken to!!" out loud.

Garbage and a lot of it. Weapon mods for SMGs, two mods for shotguns and an automatic shotgun that I'll never use. Yay!

Got it too, it's still not very good imo. It doesn't shoot as fast as it did in ME2.
