Seriously guys, you should try giving a few silvers to the elven conmen in the alienage. Leave the area and come back two more times and you will get a real funny scene. My favourite part is when the guy said something like "my mother is STILL dead please gimme more money" and the guy in suit who was trying to post as a beggar.

Yeah, I loved those guys...

"And Olly's parents are as dead as any have ever been!"

"My mom is especially dead."

"Err, no need to tell the good man that, Olly."

Haha, that was the exact dialogue. "My mom is especially dead!". Awesome especially the expression of the guy saying it.

Also, the guy who had the name "beggar".

I actually stopped giving money after the first time, so I don't know what happens after that time... hmmmm, I should continue giving money once I reach the Alienage this time.

Well, after the second time a whole crowd of beggars start appearing, including a guy wearing a suit. You will have the chance to ask about that, and the main beggar will say something like "Oh, I'm just here cause I heard there was money."

It's awesome. I went from annoyance to amusement very fast. :)

One of my favorite parts of the game. My naively altruistic character went flat broke.

I stopped with the handouts after a certain point, but I was sorely tempted to see exactly how outrageous the situation would get if I kept giving them money.

Next time I'm going to do a console cheat myself thousands of soverigns and see if it gets to the point where they comment that there's no way I would have that much money.

Edit: Bah!  Apparently it ends after the third time.  Such a shame.  I would have laughed had the crowd kept growing.

I hope there is, like in Arkham Asylum how the Joker calls you out for having played the game before if you bypass ambushes and other events altogether.

Or, if any of you have played Morrowind (well, the Tribunal expansion) with Gaenor (I think that's his name). He keeps asking you for gold and after he asks for, I think 1 million gold, he'll get pissed off about how there's no way you have that much gold.

I don't consider it begging since they put on a show for me. Thus I always give them money too. It's payment for a job well done.

Heh, when you put it like that it's more like paying them for entertainment. Considering how amusing they are, I'd say they've more than earned it.

I used the console cheat and always gave them the max amount of money (except for the guy in the nice suit) and was hoping that it would give me the option to recruit them into the Army (join the Army if you can't find a job)...but it never did. So save your money unless you want the entertainment value. G

I gave a gold coin to one of the beggars, he said he was a war vertan and then I came back he was there with a friend, who was slow in the head and claimed they were BOTH war veterans...it was pretty obvious they were trying to trick me
