It's simple! <_<

No, you **********, it's not that simple at all.

When you disagree with the way a series is going, you voice your complaint as loud as possible. That is the only way you are heard by anyone. If people sat down and accepted all the **** big companies shat at them, it'd be a sad world.

If you want to sit on your ass and pretend everything is fantastic, then be my guest. But don't attack other people's right to complain.

Now here is a crusader for the little guy, a champion against the corporate machine because according to their vast wisdom I have sat down and accepted all the whatevers big companies pour forth.  Of course anyone who disagree's with them - their motives are suspect. Why, they must be lazy (sit on your ass) and mentally lacking (**********).  This places this champion high above those of differing opinions because hey - they are better than us!  Ah, the positioning and the posturing!  We need no longer bother with free thought, we should just lap the honey that pours from this person's keyboard.

Congratulations, you can write.

But that's pretty much all you can, because your opinions are irrational and childish. I can complain, you can complain, and people who complain about people's right to complain are ****tards. That is consensus.

Also, the writing is absolutely terrible. It is cliched as hell. Stuff like "you can't help me", "let's get the hell outta here!" and "thanks, I owe you one" makes me cringe. The forced drama BS with the kid in the vents, only to be killed by a Reaper, was just lame. No I'm not offended by kids getting killed. It's just dumb in this context all together. All the characters have changed drastically. Ashley unexplainably got a boob job, and has makeup. Same with Liara. Wrex just comes off as whiny, instead of a calm, brooding badass. When the krogan female snatched the shotgun out of his hands and shot down two cerberus soldiers (it was a claymore heavy shotgun, and she used it like it was an automatic shotgun, talk about inconsistency) Wrex's line "huh, women" was just so unbelievably cringe inducing. And now, Reapers, being machine gods that exterminate the galaxy every 50,000 years, are end level minibosses.

<snip>

I am getting sick and tired of wannabe-eloquents spouting that lines are cliche. Really> "You can't help me." is a cliche? It's not something that would be said if someone is terrified down to their very core and seeing the most terrible things they have ever seen in their life right behind the guy who wants to save them!

"Let's get outta here!" Oh no. Someone said they should get out of here. Oh no. How on earth am I going to live with such a terrible misuse of words. Never in the history of mankind have these words been uttered in situations where people thought that they should get the hell outta there!

And boy...I am sure no one ever thanked someone else when they just fraggin saved their lives. I mean, I am sure there is some awesome, super-eloquent way of putting it that you know and that would make it sound like the words come straight out of Goethe's mouth!

And yeah...let's NOT create any sort of urgency for the main character? Of course it is completely unbelievable that Shepard would be heartbroken by the fact that he can't save everyone and that he has to live with the fact that no matter how much he does, he will not be able to save the lives of countless of innocent people...including children!

It couldn't be that the scene was there to illustrate the emotions Shepard is feeling, right? It couldn't be that the scene was used to have an incredible impact with the character, who we all relate to. And if you can't relate to Shepard's shock and horror at seeing a little kid be killed, then I assume you have the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just very amused/annoyed by people who keep shouting that lines like "Good luck" are capital crimes in any sort of story.

here here..

im not a bioware apologist either.. in fact, i thought ME2 was a major letdown from the original.  but from what i saw of the demo.. the last thing i thought was cliche..  ive watched the scene with the kid twice already and i found it quite emotionally impactful.. i really enjoyed it.

also, regarding ashley.. her eyes actually make her look like a normal person, she got a texture upgrade and has her hair down.. she's also basically in spandex instead of her normal full armor.. and i see zero problem with any of this.  shes looks like what i envisioned when she's not on a mission for the military.

do i hope there are more dialogue choices in the actual game?  yes. and you know what there will be.  will i care if the prologue is exactly the same as the demo?  uhmm not really.  I just played the intro the mass effect 2 last night.. it was pretty exciting, but i didnt see a huge amount of dialogue choice their either, it was basically a 20 minute cutscene.. i dont see people whining about that.

just my 2 cents.

Oh noes! The demo was crap!!! I'M NOT BUYING THE GAME!!! NERD RAGE! - OP

So you don't like where a series is going? You think you know better than the people who developed the story? Think you can make a better game?

News flash - it's the developers' story, they have every right to take it in the direction they want and to follow their vision for the game. If you don't like it, don't buy it - it is that simple. And nit-picking on a demo? It's a demo... it's not the full game, you're not getting the full experience.
Some features look to be pandering to a wider audience? You sound like a hipster... this is a great series, why shouldn't it open its arms to new players? This game looks like its only expanding the ways you experience it, which is not a bad thing. So stop crying, at the end of the day its only a game. Feel lucky that your problem in life is that a game may not be how you expect, there are greater things to worry about - now STFU and either play the full game and make up your mind, or don't. No one cares about your whining.

I apologize with the second paragraph, that was a general point, not directed at you.

The first part is mostly just pointing that it just makes it worse directly insulsting with generalizations on their state of mind.  Yes, you can say that they are being unreasonable, but delusion...can't really make a call on that.

All in all, sincerest apologizies.  It's really too easy to mix things up and take them out of context when dealing with this craziness.

Let me just say that is a sign of how well received this demo is that this thread is so small and moving so slowly.

Everyone remember what happened when the DAII demo came out? This thread is not that.

Quick note here regarding dialogue: The only reason we have dialogue choices in the past is because the devs felt that those moments were proper for choices. However, in some of the moments in ME3, I could see that it made sense where Shepard spoke for himself, and choices aren't made.

You shouldn't need to pick a line every 2 seconds to enjoy a game.

The Mass Effect trilogy is Shepard's story. Don't forget that. You just get to choose what he says a lot of the time, as a bonus.

"it's the developers' story, they have every right to take it in the direction they want and to follow their vision for the game."

This statement couldn't be any further from the ****ing truth. EA is severely hapering bioware's capability to make a good game. Just look at DA2. Rushed out in 18 months. Why? Did bioware really want to do this? Was it their choice? Their direction? No, it was EA. They want to milk Bioware and get as much as money out of them as possible, until it's dead. Then it will go the same way as Westwood, dead.

You are everything wrong with today's average gamer. Willing to eat crap and haplessly enjoy it.

Yes, yes, those poor, poor, misunderstood developers, toiling all day to create mass-market, dumbed down crap out of a once-good franchise so they can try to sell more copies.

Ok so here's another comment to add to those complaining that there's too much complaining. Because there is.

On another level, the fact that the childishness-o-meter rises to the top in valentine's day should also be expected, no? :P

I doubt this game is perfect, never have said that. Im reserving final judgement for AFTER i have played the game. I think so far from what ive seen from the leaked scripts it is fair enough adventure and easily worth 60 dollars. There are far worse games out there with the same or higher price.

If you think you can make a better game, by all means. Maybe you can team up with Seboist and Smudboy for the project. Go and put together this new company and start making the game.

Come back when teh game is ready and we will see how well you did.

To be fair the DA2 demo was terrible and turned out to be an early indicator that the game was bad. I'ts only natural for people to fear the worst with the ME3 demo. Having said that, I played through the ME3 demo this morning and it was everything I expected it to be. After playing the DA2 demo, I had a feeling the game would suck. After playing the one for ME3, I feel reassured the game will rock.
