They had to take a lot of the dialog out to meet the xbox 2 gig limit. There's an entire section cut out of the sur'kesh demo full of dialog with investigates. Textures should be similar quality as ME2.

Can't comment on the rest till I play it myself.

Half the stuff you noted will be fixed in the full game anyways, but you obviously ignore that because that would make you and your topic look silly, and we wouldn't want that to happen now right?

I don't want to come off sounding jaded, bitter and comtemptible, but are you actually thinking before you're typing?

We're talking about Bioware under EA here.

Why do people feel like they need to make the thread on the same topic when there are still plenty of active threads about this?

Also, the xbox demo enemies were tough, a few threads about people complaining that insanity is too hard, that the enemies are too tough. They were active and pain in the ass in the xbox demo. Maybe the pc version lost something in the process.

Well saved yourself some money then, now move on, no need to make a thread about it.

Umm your reply didn't make any sense to me....did you mean to quote me? I ain't complaining about the demo or making any threads about the demo Image IPB

Edit - Or am I just dumb and you were just quoting me because you wanted to emphasis those points and weren't replying to me but to the OP?

Other than the frame rate and stiffness in movement, I disagree with most of everything else.

Oh, so you've played the full game, I presume?

No, I've played the demo. The thing which is supposed to give us a taste of the full product.

I disliked the taste and I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that the full game will somehow offer a completely different taste. Especially not after Dragon Age II.

I can't believe that for a second. There were perhaps only two or three opportunities for the player to have a choice in what to say, and the demo took up 1.7GB. There was still 300 MBs roughly to play around with.

I played through the demo twice.

As soon as I started the game, one thing grabbed my attention: the menus were extremely clunky. It felt like it was going at less than 24fps, more like 12 fps. It was almost difficult trying to navigate my way through the settings and buttons, it was so unresponsive. Ok, it's no big deal. On to the game. Wow, ugly textures. What's worse is the framerate felt very inconsistent in some bits. There was a close up of one of the human council's face, the woman I think, and I was scared my xbox was going to crash, the framerate got so bad. The face textures are on the whole well detailed, but the clothing/armour detail looks extremely jarring and outdated.

Also, the writing is absolutely terrible. It is cliched as hell. Stuff like "you can't help me", "let's get the hell outta here!" and "thanks, I owe you one" makes me cringe. The forced drama BS with the kid in the vents, only to be killed by a Reaper, was just lame. No I'm not offended by kids getting killed. It's just dumb in this context all together. All the characters have changed drastically. Ashley unexplainably got a boob job, and has makeup. Same with Liara. Wrex just comes off as whiny, instead of a calm, brooding badass. When the krogan female snatched the shotgun out of his hands and shot down two cerberus soldiers (it was a claymore heavy shotgun, and she used it like it was an automatic shotgun, talk about inconsistency) Wrex's line "huh, women" was just so unbelievably cringe inducing. And now, Reapers, being machine gods that exterminate the galaxy every 50,000 years, are end level minibosses.

Also, it appears the dialogue options have been cut down dramatically, to cater to a more casual, younger audience. There's a clear cut good and evil choice, and that's it. No middle branch. No "investigate" on the left hand side. It's far too simplisitic. What's worse is that this game is 90% cutscene and 10% dialogue, if you get what I mean. Shepard speaks of his own accord far more than the player gets to control him. The michael bay-esque camera is also annoying as hell. I'd prefer it if I just played the game, rather than have wierd, goofy fish eye distortion effects every time there's an explosion.

Finally, the gameplay is horrible. The animations are extremely jerky and unnatural looking. The controls are very unresponsive. it feels like it's trying to be Gears of War, but it fails in every single aspect. It doesn't have the tight, fluid gameplay to match. It feels horribly floaty and rigid. The enemy AI is also really bad. They literally just stand there and take it. They don't try to be aggressive or flank you. They just stand/sit where they are, idly, like vegetables. The level design is also far too linear. Corridor, corridor, corridor. Some very convenient explosions causing walkways to appear miraculously before Shepard. Anderson screams "RELOAD. GET IN COVER. FOLLOW ME. THERE'S A LADDER THERE", like Shepard is autistic or something.

It screams of console port.

Those of you who say "but it's just a demo!", "it will get patched" etc are completely deluded. Mass Effect 2 was a great game, but the stripping down of RPG elements was a foreshadowing of this. Dragon Age 2 was the last straw. PC gamers have to put up with awful Origin.

I'm not telling you to get on the bioware hate bandwagon, what I am doing is making to light some very serious issues, with this game and Bioware itself.

well i agree wuth most you've said. except the AI. its been improved to me.

was ME EVER legitimately a PC game? This isn't Dragon Age that started as a PC game and got ported, ME was developed with consoles in mind. This isn't new.

And you're judging the dialogue options based on the demo, inspite of the devs saying that the dialogue was cut down for the demo. Microsoft requires demos to be less than 2GB on the Xbox Marketplace,

Basically, calm down and sit and wait. You don't have to buy the game, but wait for the full game to come out and see footage and hear other gamer's accounts before you write off the game based on 1.5GB of it.

In short, there weren't anything good with the demo at all? Sounds like you decided that the game would be bad before you even played the demo.

Also, confirmed on Twitter, the demo isn't final code which means that the demo is basically an old build.

"Manveer Heir @manveerheir

Few people finding bugs in the demo. Demo isn't final code. More than likely we fixed the bug in the retail version. Don't fret too much!"

What lines aren't cliche these days? Everything has been said in the same context millions of times over.

Please tell me where you fought a Reaper as an end level miniboss.

Enemies just stood there...what did you play, casual?

"Felt my xbox was going to crash"..."It screams of console port". Say what?

Sorry, but it's hard to take you serious at the moment. I'm all for opposing opinions, but this sounds hardly anything like the game.

DUNCAN WHY WON'T YOU BUY IT? I CARE SO MUCH TO PLAY WITH YOU!

WHY, DUNCAN, WHY?!

DUNCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!

I wonder where this notion of Reapers being machine gods ever came from. In universe they are legendary and mythical, but that was in universe, before you found out what they were in ME1. So what if there are smaller Reapers you can kill? You thought that 10000000 Reapers like Sovereign just hovered above planets and magic whammo, everyone is goo and they christen a new Reaper baby? Obviously they had armies and a variation of forms. Obviously they took casualties.

"And now"? More like you weren't paying attention during ME1 AND ME2.

You weren't playing the PC version and you liken it to a console port. Dafuq bruh?

They also cut dialogue to avoid spoilers. Its a demo remember they don't want to spoil the whole story
