When I first started reading this post I thought his complaints were groundless. The graphics do not bother me a bit I'm not a graphics fanatic. However, I have to agree with parts of his post that the game seems to have been adapted to include people who wouldn't normally play this game. This is a bad thing it's like beer companies making ****ty sub-standard beer cheaper in order to make more money. Some people don't like RPG's and thats fine but why should my game be chopped and changed just to allow someone who doesnt like dialogue to play ? Go and play call of duty or whatever it is the hell you people play and leave me to play my game!
I don't think its simple as that. The question of what qualifies as an RPG has been debated on these forums a thousand times over and virtually the only point that has come out of it is the fact that there isn't a hard and fast definition of what an RPG is, beyond the concept that its a game that allows you to customise your character and make your own decisions.
The actual problem is that there are people out there that adopt a very narrow view of precisely what an RPG is (normally along the lines of 'I must be able to make every decision', 'I must be able to have several totally different endings' or even 'I must have to sift through 2000 pages of stats') and hence they get annoyed that games that were never intended to be aimed at them don't take into account their tastes. To be fair, RPGs are really the only genre that falls into this - the range of games that fall into the RPG genre is lot wider than stuff like FPS, RTS, Racers etc.
I have also noticed a rising number of games which treat you like your a complete and utter retard. "it's this way player1" 5 seconds later...." this way player 1"....THIS WAY PLAYER 1 yeah ok we get it unless i have suddenly lost my sight or sound im quite well aware of where i'm going thanks. I don't need to have my hand held or be screamed at untill I perform the requeste operation.
That's great and all that, but this has been an ongoing problem in game development for ages. One man's 'treating like a retard' can be another frustration. To be honest, the thing I don't get is why people get so annoyed about this kind of thing being carried out in the turtorial sections. I could understand it if it were a major obstruction that sticks with you for the whole game, but for a short section at the start... really? Is it that much of an issue?

In this case, it's the third game in a series. With each iteration, more "action / combat / shooter" features were added, while the RPG features were removed or "streamlined". I know software development is sometimes about reducing scope - cutting things that either don't work or can't fit in the time or budget - but I think their focus on attracting a new audience is causing them to cut the wrong things.
So I don't think it's misconception, or debate over what is and isn't an RPG. I think it's that fans of the series are watching their game be transformed and some of them really don't like the focus.
Personally, I'm one of them. If I want to play a multiplayer shooter, I'd play CoD or BF or Halo or Gears. 3 of those 4 include the "horde" mode that ME3 is emulating. I'd rather have seen those resources go towards pleasing the RPG fans than attracting the Shooter ones. I want to be free to explore the rich ME universe, freedom being key - now I can't even choose when to take out my weapon and when to put it away?
Some fans of the series, myself included, are tired of having to settle. Tired of having to conceed to changes we don't like, and accept limitations being imposed on us, so that we can continue the story we started back with the original Mass Effect.

It isn't quite as bad as ... say the 'All that Remains'
Of course I could go ahead and believe there were 'cuts' for the demo. But I believed all that gob****e with dragon age 2.
PS The multiplayer is nice.

But that's life, unfortunately. Once all games can do everything at once then your complaint would be more valid, but they can't, yet. A straight FPS is quite a narrow focus - they will all have very common features. The genre that is called RPG has a much larger and nebulous set of features, and no RPG game can fit all of them in, and so 2 rpgs might not closely resemble each other. What ME has done is try to graft a full-blooded shooter mechanic to an rpg structre - ME1 cleaved more closely to RPG, ME2 focused on improving the shooting dynamic. ME3 hopefully gets both synthesised right. If the Galaxy at War mechanic happens to be fun and engaging too that's just icing on the cake.
What is certain, you will not find the combination of strong action gameplay with varied scifi environments and a really strong, character-focused narrative you can guide and manipulate yourself, over a contiguous trilogy, anywhere else. Nothing even comes close. Just think about that for a moment - the level of ambition is astonishing. That BW cannot keep every single plate spinning perfectly is just reality; the fact that they keep most of them going is to be applauded.
