I still don't understand people like joe who go all the trouble to make a jersey shore joke avatar and spend hours lurking and writing on a forum about a game they already despise.

All of this to tell us how stupid we are for being hyped for a bioware game coz EA!, ec. I just have to conclude that these are sad, confused and somewhat demented people

It's to be expected, of course, but the denial of so-called fans on these boards is appalling.

Bioware has gone and taken a colossal dump on this franchise, and you're all trying to convince yourselves it's the best thing ever. It's like the space emperor's new clothes. Ask yourselves this: are you fans of Bioware, or Mass Effect?

If it's the former, fine, stick your head in the sand, call me a hater and go about your business. But if it's the latter, then take a deep breath, look at this demo for what it is, and consider whether or not that's really what any rational person would expect for the conclusion of this epic rpg trilogy.

The writing has been on the wall for months. Open your eyes.

Have you seen the leaked script, have you read it? If not, please shut up, cause you dont know a damn thing about this games plot. You think some 40 min demo justifies a whole game that has 40 00 lines of dialogue?

Since when did he mention plot? Plot is completely irrelevant to his post.

I have to agree, the denial of the fans such as yourself is insanity.

Dude, where do you get off telling people about if they are true fans or not? (see "so-called fans").

And yes, a rational, not to mention logical, person would say the game is shaping up to be a satisfying conclusion in the gameplay department.  Maybe RPG "purists" need to open their eyes and realize that the pacing isn't always going to be stopping every 2 seconds to choose a dialogue option.

Then again, your avatar says all that I need to know about your rationale.

I think we can label 90% of these types of threads as trolls. Next to none of his points are valid as he is either nit picking or just completely uninformed about things like the cut dialogue for the demo, or the fact that there are going to be 3 game modes(like the game was made only for his pleasure) and didn't even bother to find about the details. Yet he felt it was right to come here and troll away with half information...

Also, the writing is absolutely terrible. It is cliched as hell. Stuff like "you can't help me", "let's get the hell outta here!" and "thanks, I owe you one" makes me cringe. The forced drama BS with the kid in the vents, only to be killed by a Reaper, was just lame. No I'm not offended by kids getting killed. It's just dumb in this context all together. All the characters have changed drastically. Ashley unexplainably got a boob job, and has makeup. Same with Liara. Wrex just comes off as whiny, instead of a calm, brooding badass. When the krogan female snatched the shotgun out of his hands and shot down two cerberus soldiers (it was a claymore heavy shotgun, and she used it like it was an automatic shotgun, talk about inconsistency) Wrex's line "huh, women" was just so unbelievably cringe inducing. And now, Reapers, being machine gods that exterminate the galaxy every 50,000 years, are end level minibosses.

<snip>

I am getting sick and tired of wannabe-eloquents spouting that lines are cliche. Really> "You can't help me." is a cliche? It's not something that would be said if someone is terrified down to their very core and seeing the most terrible things they have ever seen in their life right behind the guy who wants to save them!

"Let's get outta here!" Oh no. Someone said they should get out of here. Oh no. How on earth am I going to live with such a terrible misuse of words. Never in the history of mankind have these words been uttered in situations where people thought that they should get the hell outta there!

And boy...I am sure no one ever thanked someone else when they just fraggin saved their lives. I mean, I am sure there is some awesome, super-eloquent way of putting it that you know and that would make it sound like the words come straight out of Goethe's mouth!

And yeah...let's NOT create any sort of urgency for the main character? Of course it is completely unbelievable that Shepard would be heartbroken by the fact that he can't save everyone and that he has to live with the fact that no matter how much he does, he will not be able to save the lives of countless of innocent people...including children!

It couldn't be that the scene was there to illustrate the emotions Shepard is feeling, right? It couldn't be that the scene was used to have an incredible impact with the character, who we all relate to. And if you can't relate to Shepard's shock and horror at seeing a little kid be killed, then I assume you have the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just very amused/annoyed by people who keep shouting that lines like "Good luck" are capital crimes in any sort of story.

Alright, I suppose if you want to get super technical, yes the lines by themselves are not "cliche", they are just words. It's the context and deliverance that makes all the difference.

I'm just trying to re-adjust expectations for this game down to a reasonable level.  Over-hype and over-expectation are the quickest ways to ruin a gaming experience.  If anything, I'm trying to do you all a favor so that when the realization hits you that the nay-sayers were right all along, you won't be too surprised and dissapointed.

Look at what happened to DA2.  The devs lied through their teeth about what the game was going to be, and when the backlash came, they blamed the poor reception on a "misalignment of player expectation."

They're right.  The players expected it to be good.

This topic is about the Xbox version - and the PC demo's release isn't set to occur for over three hours.

Yeah, for some reason I was thinking 10am EST.  Anyway, he starts spouting off about it screaming of a console port, and then someone else replies that maybe something was lost in translation on the PC version as though it had been played.  First time I've ever heard of a console developed game that was played on a console being called a console "port".

I provided the context. And deliverance...you can argue that the Voice Actors are bad if you want. That's your choice and your personal preference.

Give me a great line for someone who is trapped in a hellhole of an ambush, figures they have to get moving because if they don't they are going to get killed and wants to convey that to his friend/partner/coworker in absolute urgency.

Come on. Give me something that is absolutely incredibly eloquent and fantastic and so much better than what is used here.

Oh please. There's that phrase again, "It's a demo".

Whatever. You're all so far gone.

This is exactly what was said when the DA2 demo was released. Look what happened.

Except that a lot of us have seen videos of the leaked beta which had the expanded Sur'kesh level and there was a lot of dialogue.

Yup, but even then people wish to complaint and say that it's still not enough because Shepard says just a few , rational words on his own.

I saw the sur'kesh beta and didn't think there was a lot of choice, and still an awful lot of auto-dialogue.
Do you get more chances to talk on earth with Anderson than in the demo?

I've played ME2 til i've exhausted it. I remember the controls being a little bit tighter in the ME2. OP i know exactly what you're talking about when you say the controls feel floaty. Shepard moves like she's in slow motion.

While I'm moving Shepard, I'm looking down to see her leg movement animation, and I have to say it looks like her legs are in full slow motion. At least when you compare that animation to ME2. Definitely one of my pet peeves for this game so far.

Also, I really hope the dialogue isn't as cliche as it's been so far in the demo. I cringed too. We'll see when the FINAL version is released.

Then we differ in opinion, good sir. Nothing more. I happen to like the story thats in the script, it's not shakespeare but it's fair enough for the end of trilogy.

They never lied about it, and most of the problems with that game was the poor use of recycling the same dungeon over and over again, and choices that don't really matter, both of those are already proven wrong for ME3, just by reading the script you know how important the choices in this game are.
