So Ashly went from strong marine chick to a Meranda like fighting model.

EDIT:  Oh, and I have to say that her character is much more tastefully done than Miranda in ME2.  It's unfair to compare them really.

Her character? Or her appearance?

Because Miranda has plenty of perfectly good character.

Sorry, I did mean her appearance.  I agree Miranda is a great, complex character as well. I just didn't really like the way she was physically portrayed.  Thanks for the clarification.

She's a soldier. She can look pretty on the ship all she wants, but she better tie up her damn hair, wipe off that makeup thats just going to run into her eyes as soon as she starts sweating, and gear up.

Its a genocidal war of survival. I don't care about sexy when she's on duty.

Have you not seen her suit of armor? It's the same as FemShep's, jsut blue.

Not talking about her armor. I'm talking about her hair not being tied up, and the makup she is wearing. It bothers the hell out of me. Which is why I mentioned above that if I use her, I am making her use a helmet. That forces her hair to be tied up, and I can pretend that she cares more about the war than looking pretty.

Sales, dear sir...Sales.

Not looking like a specter implies you don't want to be noticed. As such you would dress to the area, much more subtle. She doesn't look subtle to me.

It also doesn't help that every single specter we have seen (admittedly not many) has worn armor.

But they wear no specific kind of armor, uniform, badge, etc. indicating that they're Spectres either. None of the three Spectres we've seen overtly looked like Spectres.

I'd think they'd be allowed to equip themselves however they see fit, armor or no, and likely change according to the situation or mission.

Ashley had ANY redeeming qualities? This is news to me.

Agreed. Althought I contest if that IS a specter uniform, it doesn't fit ashley at all.

Indeed.  And if Ash doesn't have at least the option of a different onboard outfit (not just a reskin) or lines indicating her annoyance at having to wear that getup, I'll be...annoyed...Image IPB

aww, sexy marine chicks, Sheperds one true weakness. So what if Ashley lets her hair down? If you want the bun-look go play mass effect 1 (hell maybe they'll release a second alternate for her one day). If you liked Ashley's personality in the first game then the new look shouldn't bother you that much...

Ah yes, those who like style over substance.

Seriously though telling us to "just play ME1" isn't great advice. AT ALL. So we shouldn' voice our displeasure? No thank you.

On the contrary the very fact that I like ashley's personality is why I dislike the outfit. but my focus on ashley isn't the outfit right now. Its how she isn't acting like the soldier she should be.

Wow this is quite possibly the nit-pickiest topic I have seen in a while, and there has been a healthy amount of them recently. It sounds like you want a one dimensional tom boy  'I iz alwayz on duty' character. Sorry you are disappointed but that is not the character the writers were writing, that was only a fraction of the character. Let it go

So because her hair isn't up, she doesn't care as much? I give up. You sound like you're role playing with a barbie doll

Ever since this topic poped up, you know the first time and the time after that and the time after that... Anyway ever since then I am wondering why I absolutely don't care about this. I mean I would love to equip every character with whichever armor I liked and have them wear it but I really don't care if it stays the way it is right now. Maybe you can blame that on me growing up with JRPGs where no matter what you equiped your character with they would still appear as some 18 year old chick with long blonde hair and make up wearing a green swimsuit to save the world.
But the real question is why does anybody still care?
We already had characters like Miranda in a catsuit with long hair and make up. We also had Jack with that whatever that was she was wearing to cover her nipples. Liara's outfit doesn't seem bulletproof either. Should I mention breathing masks? No, better not.
What I am saying is this game doesn't want to be realistic, or atleast not as realistic as some people here would wish. And why should it be? It is a freakin Space Opera. Just because it has an very deep and elaborate lore doesn't mean it has to be overly realistic for the sake of entertainment (and yes, sexy women are a part of entertainment, especially in Space Operas). Star Trek was very elaborate and I can't rember ever seeing Captain Kirk or in this case probably Uhura wear a piece of armor.

BTW: That the outfit is sexualized may not bother me but that doesn't mean that I don't find it to be butt ugly.

****ing get over it. As long as her personality remains unchanged then it just doesn't matter. And people call me a petty troll for complaining about **** like unrealistic cover and other stuff

No-no-no. You forgotten something very important:
Michael Beattie.
Plus horrible animation, blurry textures, weapon feeling crappy and sounding worse than airsoft... What else I've forgot?

C'mon now.

According to Ash in the demo she, "used to know you [Sheperd]." How do you know her personality hasn't changed since ME1? She could have a different personlity now (I'm sure you'd agree), but she can't have a new look? it sounds like you want the old ME1 Ashley back. . .but I think she has changed a lot since then. You can dislike those changes if you want to, but I don't think it's productive. People change, you kinda have to accept that, whether you like it or not.

-_- if your going to criticize people's heads I suggest you start with Liara--**** has no ears (and it freaks me out)--that bun made her look like a sexy librarian BTW. A sexy racist firearm librarian :)

The paragraph under the bolded part answers your question.

Ash was the only female character who was hot without being an adolescant fantasy.  She was both tough and attractive and looked. it.  It's part of what made her special to the series.  Bioware admits that the makeover was simply to add sex appeal.  The took the closest thing to a realistic person on the team, a favorite character of mine, and gave her a superhero costume.  I think that's a decent reason for being upset.

But then, I liked Ash back in ME1 before it was popular.  When she was derided fro being a "racist zealot" and whatnot.  I guess that makes me an "old fan" and therefore not part of the target demographic anymore :(
