Ok I just finished playing the Demo as an Adept. In the earth mission I had super quick cool downs and was able to fire off singularities and then warps to bomb enemies like you could in ME2. Then when I go to the second mission in the demo to rescue the Krogan female Shepard's cool downs are super slow. I mean so slow that I can only fire off either a singularity or a warp and it takes at least a minute in real life time, not game time before I fire off another biotic attack. All the while Liara can shoot off a singularity and then a warp not too far after and that is just wrong. I had Shepard level up to level 3 in biotic mastery and Liara leveled up to level 3 in Pure Biotic. Both were at the same level but Shepard seemed to be severely gimped compared to Liara and compared to the earth mission.
I'm not sure if this will be in the official release of the game but this was not fun especially having to rely on a rifle that didn't have full automatic firing feature where I had to press the right trigger time and time again to fire off a shot. Biotics are supposed to rely more on their powers and less on guns. It seemed to me that the Biotics were turned into a one shot biotic ability and then rely on guns the rest of the time.
The biotic cool downs seem to be a throw back to ME1's biotic system where you fire off one biotic power and it takes a very long time for it to cool down. However unlike the ME1 system where you could use a different power after firing off say warp or singularity, in ME3 you CAN'T use any other powers other than grenades or Unity. If you are going to make the biotic power cool down so slow then at least allow us to use our other powers while the one power you just fired off is cooling down.

Cooldowns are now based on weight. The reason why they were so slow in the second mission is because you are carrying four weapons as opposed to just a pistol. Using the skill trees you can improve your cooldown times and weight capacity. Hope this helps.

I only had two guns at the time. The rifle and the pistol. I was not carrying anything else on my Shepard in the demo which means that this is a bug.

smiler_23 is correct. Due to the way the demo is created, it automatically equips 4 weapons as there is no weapon load out, this increases your weight and thus your cooldowns. As you get the load out in retail this will not occur.

does any one know if the cooldown times have been increased, because i'm using a lv 20 n7 assasin and i only use one weapon the acolite V and it's supposed to have +200 wheigth and i maxed the biotic cut, and it takes like 3 sec to cooldown and be ready to do it again.JoeHegarty wrote...

You can check the MP balance changes for any tweaks to weapons weight. I don't think the last update affected any of them. Its mostly been weapon buffs and nerfs lately. Or powers.
