Hey the feedback is great, everyone's got really different opinions on the whole thing, so I was wondering if it was out on Playstation store yet? I've been looking every hour since 4pm today (I live in Australia) so has anyone else in Australia been able to download on ps3?

I loved the demo, I can see a lot of ppl complaining about the short convo, but if you pay attention especial with wrex and the salariens, you'll notices that the convo is cut short, so we don't get to many spoilers and I'm ok with that :)

I am lucky it seams, as my combat worked fine the cover worked as it should, didn't get shot unless an enemy had me in a line of sight.

Only bug I had was a weird one, that when Shepard blinks her eye's, the eye's show thou the eyelids - kinda creepy lol

I have tried all 3 of the way's the game can be played and will probably never pay the Action part of the game, as it seams you lose to many options to reply in conversations, so it will be RPG for me.
Love the demo, and can't wait for full game.

P.S and miss the film grain as well, hoping it will make it to the full game

some other small comments did anyone else laugh when wrex said we needed to take out the atlas mech because it was "too dangerous" for him? I mean come on its wrex the bad ass krogan who took down a thresher maw, and he can't land cause of this mech?

I did like the eye color too, the red eyes looked like a vampire, nice touch bioware.

and when Shepard was on the ship watching the child get on the transport did it seem long? Like the Normandy is just hovering there with no worries, no reapers attacking (even though it seemed all air earth ships were either engaged or being destroyed) but not the Normandy, you have all the time in the world for this random kid to look off in the distance actually spot you, recognize you and then get on the transport (i know i'm nit picking but i would think the Normandy would want to get the heck out of there, and if not then at least provide some air support maybe distract the reaper and save that kid?)

I didn't like that the space did everything I mean I jumped and also covered and also took things from the shelves etc... why make so many actions into one button. I loved the minimap in ME1 I hated the it in ME2 and here there is no minimap at all at least they let us know where to go by pusshing the V button but still I don'tl ike it. well the texture I don't care about them much but they reminded me of ME1 so it's not that great even though my Graphic settings are on max the buildings and other designs they didn't blown me away in ave. but the story i loved it I don't like playing demos cause they get me addictive I mean i can't wait to play the game. the characters I liked the returnin charas from ME1 and ME2 and also the krogan female she was hilarious I loved her.
Actually I want to play it through because I want to know How will the story end.
so the overall rate is about 75% likeness

OK. I didn't yet finish the demo - came out too late last night - but here are my first impressions (PC version):

*Graphics: OK but not impressive. Character details tend to be very good though.

*Chargen: New femShep hairstyles: very nice. My Rani Shepard (reproduced with facecode) can have her almost black eyes from ME1 back, yay! She looks a little different but better than ever.

*Intro: meh. Fails to deliver the mood all in all. The one saving grace is the music, which is better than ever, mixing old Mass Effect leitmotifs and varying them to convey different moods.

*Controls: very smooth and intuitive so far. New moves - climbing and jumping - very much appreciated. Didn't try the rolls yet.

*Dialogue: Disappointing two choices in all conversations. Hmph. No comment. I just hope that's not typical for the full game.

*Combat: Can't say much yet since I'm just past the first two fights. Aiming appears to be a little harder than in ME2 but I guess I'll get used to it. My Engineer feels immediately familiar though. Can't wait to try the new powers later in the demo.

*No minimap is an annyonce for me personally. I guess they had to sacrifice it for performance. Damn xbox limitations.

I played 10 minutes of the demo then stopped because I was bored, I did skip the cutscenes to avoid spoilers but I really hope this isnt representative of the final gameplay.

Things blowing up everywhere that I have no part in... wow, thats exciting. All I was basically doing was holding forwards and tapping the one button does everything key.

Seriously Bioware whats happened to the series i loved, at least have the decency to call it something else if you want to make call of duty in space.

I really hope I have it wrong... as I say only played ten minutes of the parts you control.

edit: and to the guy above, theres no minimap because its FFXIII style linear!

Also PC specific complaints, no controller support, poor graphics (assume the options are outside of the menus in final game but it clearly wasnt on top settings) and cant put my weapon down.

What's with all the crippling nerfs to Sentinels?

Nearly all of their abilities get crazy high cooldown times in the second-half of the demo and now Tech Armor imposes another 80% penalty to cooldown timers on top of it?

I loved Sentinel, and I loved that I could use both tech and biotic abilities to suit my needs, but if I spend most of my time having to wait for their cooldowns, I might as well drop Sentinel and play an Adept or something less troublesome.

Please lower the cooldowns. Having to wait nearly 30 seconds to use another power is just sucky and even grabbing all the Cooldown reducer upgrades for a single power doesn't do much to fix the issue.

I like it alot.
The main thing that bothers me is the auto opening of locked doors. If there is no game involved it's pointless having locked doors at all. It just wastes time.
Hopefully it's just a demo space saver.

This is not true. Locked doors are "hidden loading screens". The time to unlock it is used by the game to load the next section of the map.

Great intro:
- Nice interaction between Anderson and Shepard
- Emotionally moving seeing the kid get killed, fantastic accompanying music by Clint Mansell as Normandy escapes Earth
- Great set up for many plot threads

Much improved combat:
- Much better enemy AI - smokes, grenades, mobility, actively charging and flanking, melee attacks, shields - makes for a more engaging, mobile, fun and challenging experience
- Weapons felt to have more punch, love it!
- Heavy melee attacks, stealth kill
- Like the new rolling from cover to cover and overall movement interactivity, though initially it was very annoying trying to get Shep to do exactly what you want as you're not used to the controls yet
- Increased selection of RPG abilities to choose from
- Great sound effects overall and visual effects too

Level design, story, character interactions:
- Very well made and tightly made level design, cinematic sequences and events
- Improved cinematic sequences
- Wrex, Liara and Garrus party banter

Cons:
- Walking animations (not during cutscenes) of other characters, enemies - they seem to float around, because their upper body has zero vertical movement, moving in a 2 dimensional plane - kind of stick out as a sore thumb. Same goes for Shepard's off looking running animations
- Shepard's running speed is just too fast
- Liara's Singularity's just too frequent, therefore too powerful
- Lack of film grain

Wants:
- Add more unique character and tactics to squadmates during combat - they're some of the best fighters in the galaxy, they ought to kick ass on the battlefield, give them more personality and owning of enemies

Overall good stuff! Can't wait for the real game.

You skip cutscenes and only see combat gameplay, what do you expect it to act like?  An RPG or a shooter?  Blame yourself on that one.

And have you ever seen backgrounds and skyboxes?  They are supposed to set the mood, would you rather the Reapers just stand there and not do anything?  You know, not attack buildings and ships because Shepard didn't say they could or not?

Geez..if you are going to gripe at least have good reason.

The combat seems pretty solid and good. However one thing I didn't like was that when making the character the traditional Mass Effect experience wasn't highlighted first. I found that kind of strange because I'm sure you'll run into a few players who wouldn't know what all of these mean and just choose the first option and get a dumbed down version of the game where all you do is watch cutscenes.

I have trouble recognizing the new ashley as ashley. She seems like a different person and actually a person I want to completely avoid. She just seems kinda creepy to me now.

Demo wasn't a good show of what I think what is core to Mass Effect. To me, the thing that really made it what it was, was the story and the unique way it went about cutscenes where you coudl choose the various options. The demo just really leaves a ton of gaps in that area and doesn't let players settle down enough to go like, I want to see what happens next!

Some animations seemed a bit silly to me, like when I saw Anderson sprinting.

Overall, all you got here is a pretty cliche combat demo. Nothing really special that you can't find elsewhere in dozens of other actions games. While the combat portion is good, the demo only seems to exemplify that and not the huge story part of which it is based.

Loved the demo.

My only gripes with it would have to be a few of the storming animations (Captain Anderson to be exact, he looked odd running) and not seeing a Tali appearance. I loved the cameos of Wrex and Kirrahe. Graphics were amazing (especially in the 2nd part) and the animations were very smooth and fluid. Not to mention the fast reloading times and more obstacles were nice touches.

Action-Only feature looked interesting. If it's implemented into the released game then it'll show us the real canon playthough since the game makes the choices for you.

Quite enjoyed the demo, although the graphics weren't as good as I expected, hopefully it'll be a bit shinier in the full release. The combat system works well - it's fast, brutal, sounds and feels great! The faster pace makes playing as a biotic more fun in ME3. The only niggle is that I frequently ended up rolling around and ducking into cover when I was only trying to activate a switch.

I'm not so sure about the RPG elements, but there's too little to see in the demo to judge this fairly. The skill trees are bigger and branch once, that's as deep as they get - also the character sheet is pretty different to both previous games and I found having to expand skills to imporove them clunky.

I found the intro on Earth cliched and rushed - too many new faces to care about, Earth looks too much like any other futuristic world to identify with, and the Reaper attack occurs so quickly that there's no time to appreciate it. I guess it was supposed to be scary and dramatic, but it felt like amateur work to be honest.

So, I'm cautiously optimistic about the full game, and still definitely going to buy it. Something I wasn't expecting was discovering I'm in love with the new femshep, so I'm looking forward to playing the game with a female character!

Plataform: PC
class: Adept
Difficulty: normal ( role-playing mode goes without saying

Overall... I liked it.

The demo ran smoothly, graphics were nice but I found some of the textures...lacking ( Liara remembered me of her old ME version, for example )
The UI for powers now clearly shows the effects of each upgrade.
The different power evolution options available make it much more interesting.
Combat felt more dynamic, if only because the enemies do something more than just shoot you, and you can do more than run, cover and jump over random crateN.2345.
I found interesting the way health is now handled.
I like the animation for bypassing doors.... but I expect the full game includes the minigame.

But...

Dialog wheel is smaller?
Too much auto dialogue in the intro.
Combat UI showing shields and health bars takes a little to much space.
Walking animation for femShep.... :pinched:
Other animations look off too. Running for example.

About the intro itself... well, I have played plenty of times ME and Sovereign arriving at the Citadel always give me the chills.... Reaper arrival to Earth.... not so much.

I also agree with others about the trial, but not only that, we don't see any repercusion to blowing up a colony with 300.000 civilians... I would have expected Shepard to be in jail if only to appease the Batarians. ( Anderson meddling or not )

I didn't expect to get a full introduction of Vega at the very begining, but seeing my Shep and Vega being buddies was jarring. I shouldn't have to read any of the comics or books for the story to make sense, specially when Bioware claims that ME3 is a "good starting point" for new comers...

And since I'm at it, and this BSN after all...
Oh my God! femShep uniform in the intro makes her breasts look like torpedos!
Preorder cancelled!!
...
wait, I didn't preorder!

:P

single player is a lot of fun. I have already beaten it with every class. I have to say that i am a little disappointed in that most of the classes are more the same than different now though. I never realized how different each class really was from each other in ME and ME2. These ones seem all too similar. Sure they may have different abilities here and there but its not as drastic as it was in ME 1 especially. And I thought the Heavy Melees would be unique per class and they are not. You only get a biotic punch or an omni blade. Not impressed by that however the over all gameplay is very good and I like the control improvements. I am still not sure if I prefer 3 over 2 though.

I loved the demo, can’t wait for the actual game. The only serious issue I have is with mapping to many actions to the A button, I was trying to take cover, but constantly was rolling out of cover or into the wall. That is the only frustrating part. Otherwise, I am a bit confused by the new choices in setting. I don’t understand why there is an action choice, a story choice, and a RPG choice. Can’t we have all of them in one package, or is that the RPG choice? Finally, is there a veteran difficulty, because that is the level of the previous two games that I enjoy playing on? Looking for some feedback if anybody had such issues with the cover system or can answer my questions about the game initial settings.

Well, I played it tonight. I made a character, and generated the face. I'd like to say I thought the graphics were too dark, but I've also see a lot of changes between demos and the game. Combat did feel a lot like Gears as far as control went, which was fine by me, since I don't mind the way that plays, although I would love to have infinite ammo available for those evenings of less accurate shooting. The rolls are fun.

* I hope fem Shep's body movements change between the demo and the game. She still had the gorilla walk and held her arms like she had 25" biceps and a 50" chest. Please tell me it isn't like this in the game.

* I don't know about how the difficulty scales because, well I wasn't feeling that great and I played it on "tell me a story". I like the idea of being able to choose that in the beginning, because you know sometimes you just don't feel like playing something super difficult. I'll leave Insane up to you kiddies.

* The VA was fine. Storywise I knew what was coming so no surprises there.

* the graphics are looking dated, but if the story is good it'll make up for it.

* hair is still helmet hair.

* I doubt the convos are going to be this simplified in the full game.

Overall, it's a demo. I've played demos that have absolutely sucked and the games have been good.

I don't like the idea of having to create an origin account to gain access to coop multiplayer on the 360, but I didn't play this part, and I'm not sure I'm going to play the MP in the game. I don't have that many friends that get online the same time I do. That sucks. But that's EA. It's another frakkin account and another frakkin password to remember. I probably already have one for BF3, but I can't for the life of me remember what I did with it.

As far as repercussions for killing the 300,000 in the Batarian system, it looks like there were none simply because the evidence of the reaper invasion was shall we say concrete this time, and that the colonists would have been dead anyway. When galactic civilizations are about to go bye bye the last thing people worry about is a commander who committed genocide. That happens after the war is over. Years later maybe if any of the witnesses survived. So as far as there being no trial? Probably a good thing since many players would probably end up with Shepard in a dungeon.

I was, and have been, pretty pissed off at Bioware's direction with their franchises as of late. The sense of comfortably affecting quality is clearly shown and, replacing elegance with brevity, it's been ****.

The ME3 Demo shows potential, the amount of stuff I liked being about the same as what I hated.

I'd like to see the story pan out as well as the previous MEs with the expected improvements we'd all like. I'd like to see some reward for exploration and a hell of a lot less linearity (games in general need less of this nowadays). But so far ME3's demo seems about as rich as most demos can get, and I'd like to see what the full game has in store. That's not a day 1 purchase, but it's not something I'm going to ignore for awhile.

And please lose [all] of the staff you got Mythic. Pipe dream, but still. A good number of them need to hit the books.

Most of the demo was battles, and the cutscenes/dialogues where very few and short in it,I hope this isn't the deal for the actual full game. I played it on my PC.

Now let me give you some feedback on various aspects:

*Graphics*

+ The new face textures have amazing detail.
+ The art design is still fabulous.
+ The new lighting effects are good.
- Some textures like the one of Wrex's uniform look very pixelated and blurry,I think worse than how his armor looked in ME1.
- Why is everything so grey ? Colors are so much washed out... The color pallete used in ME3 isn't the ideal, please bring back the nice vibrant sci fi colors we liked and loved in ME2.

*Sound*

+ Nice soundtrack tunes,as always.
- The new gun sound sounds like someone is hitting a hammer on a piece of metal.Too metalic. Doesn't sound like a sound from a lazer gun or a conventional gun either.

*Controls*
- Why do you have to assign sprint, cover, activation, jump, all in the same button ? This is so frustrating. In the Salarian homeworld mission I had to ativate 2 computers which where up on desks. I had to move too close to the computers to be able to interact with them, but when I got close enough and I pressed the button, instead of having Shepard activating the computer on top of the desk,Shepard ducked and took cover behind the desk! I got in cover and uncovered 3 times until I eventually managed to interact with the computer which seems to be a matter of luck...
It's very frustrating.

*Gameplay*
*I don't know if  MasterChief-ing Shepard by making his melee attacks quite more powerfull than his guns is a good idea, but this melee attack would be usefull if it wasn't only to be used when there is only 1 enemy around...
Shepard dies so quickly in medium difficulty you will just die if you get out of your cover and go to do this attack to an enemy if there is another or 2 around too.
*New moves like climbing and jumping have much potential but I think it would be better if they wasn't automated scripted events and the player had more control on their performance.Like for example if there was a jump button or if we had to press [up] to make Shepard climb stairs up,and [down] to make Shepard climb down the stairs.
*The new attack of the enemies who spam grenades when you are in cover gets annoying/frustrating quickly.
*Guns felt somewhat unbalanced. The pistol is just so much more powerfull than the assault rifle, that if you use the pistol you kill enemies with less bullets in shorter time.Add to that that the assault rifle seems to be more inaccurate than the pistol, and you get the feeling that the assault rifle is unworthy in comparison with the pistol.
* Why isn't there a 'interact' circle showing up on my squad mates like there was in past 2 games,so I can talk to them while we are walking around ?

This was just my personal opinion, others can just not adopt it.

crap graphics inferior to ME2 in TEXTURES
LOW-res textures spEcially in enemies... watch them before their bodies disappear in front of you in secodns
Absence of ragdoll physics in corpses in a 2012 game and they disappear in secons . . . MAGIC !

-There *really, really* needs to be an option to change the FoV, even if it requires a day 1 patch. I don't get motion sickness, but a lot of people do, and besides, the FoV is just too narrow.
-PC, at the very least, needs to have a separate key option for dodging, or even dodging/sprinting. It's just too clunky as it is now. I consider this just as much of a priority as the FoV.
-Hopefully the demo textures are just a space-saving measure, because if there's no option for higher-res textures in the full game, any time I see an Alliance uniform I'm going to be preoccupied with how ugly it looks instead of what's going on.
-(Minor gripe): Why does my heavy 5 o'clock shadow Shep have no hair where his sideburns should be? I mean, come on! :D

Other than that...
-When it comes to the complaints about the dialogue, I'm reserving judgment, given that it's quite possible the intro scenes were chopped in order to get into the action. While I have no doubt they're either pressured or required to showcase the action to draw in the CoD crowd, I haven't yet had cause to lose my faith in their devotion to the RPG aspects of the game.
-Music and sound were outstanding. Give your audio guys a raise and your composers a bonus.
-Male hair styles seem...odd. As if tufts of hair were salvaged from a barber shop floor and shaped into hairstyles.
-No problems with the graphics. Not impressed, not disappointed, aside from the texture/hair issue. They work for me.

Other than that, I have no real 'woot' or 'bah' remarks. Looking forward to the game, just hope they fix the FoV, rolling, and texture issues.

First of all, thanks for releasing the demo. I almost couldn't believe it's here after these two long years.

My observations:
1. Putting aside my slight disappointment to know the main focus will be on Earth, landscapes in the demo were very nicely done.
2. It's kind of hard to run in different angles. Shepard heavily tends to run in one direction and changing that makes the character move only a bit into a specific direction. Maybe it'd be adjusted by increasing a mouse sensitivity but I didn't have that issue in previous installments.
3. Team mates feels more like autonomous persons in a combat situation. They actively use their powers and moves more flexibIy without special need to . I like that a lot. On the other side, it's sort of hard to tell how much health they still have.
4. An absence of the film grain (probably demo-specific) was missed.
5. A default face of female Shepard looks like a character from a cartoon series, even Jade from Beyond Good and Devil would be more suitable for the role ;). A lack of real model for the character is considerably felt. Nonetheless, I look forward to play for "my" customer Shepard.
6. An interaction between characters seemed to be more rushed and Shepard felt "****ier" than usual.
7. A lack of bypass action was surprising. I'd welcome to see an actual hack action directed by a player (so the sense of playing is bigger than watching the action around) but I don't mind if it is missing.
8. Is it only me or Ashley looks really different now? I remember her as a soldier type who can act a bit harsh sometimes but she made a fashion model sense about her here.
9. Combat was nicely done, too. It felt dynamic.

I played PC demo with ATI HD 6870 on the screen resolution 1920×1080, normal difficulty and an usual ME experience (full dialog choice, etc.).

It was a pleasure to see a majority of former team mates. Geez, just March, 9th seems to be so far, far away, it's hard to concentrate on anything :).

I HATE the ME1 elements in this game. It's old, clunky, dull, cheesy, crappy, lo-fi in a very bad way.

P.S.  Film Grain sux.

I guess I liked the demo. The intro was not what I was expecting though. I thought it was going to have a slow build up where you get to see the alliance prepare for the invasion, and you get the chance to defend yourself for the actions you have taken in the past, or maybe even get a medal for it. But there seems to be a huge void from ME2 to ME3.

I was kinda suprised how it all started, you in a room, 2 minutes from the attack. I mean, what happend all those months? Shame really, but it might be diffrent in the complete game, but the intro didn't grab me like the first two games.

The dialogue seems a bit weak as well, and that disappointed me. Now you can only choose from angry Sheppard or nice Sheppard, with basically the same outcome. I guess this could have been stripped out of the demo, but it felt lackluster. A bit strange though. A demo is supposed to grab you, and you are supposed to get a glimpse of the full game, but if stuff is missing it kinda miss the whole point of it.

The action felt good, the new AI seems to be challenge, the sounds and the graphics was great. But for me, if the story isn't there, it just feel empty.

So all and all it was fun to try it out, but I'm really hoping you get more dialouge choices in the full game, and that it dosen't end up like a sci-fi cheesy mess like it felt it did at some points.

Anyway, no pre-order canceled or anything. Really want to play the game, and finish the story. My Sheppard has been through much and it would be a shame if he does not get to experince the ending because of a few negative points in the demo :)
