There were some things I didn't like much thought, the textures, animations (specially the sprint animation) and the rushed feel of the introductory sequence bugged me a little but i understand all these might be better in the final game so it's ok.

Loved it. I have been waiting a long time to reunite with Ashley and it felt very good (almost real life emotion) to see and talk to her (albeit, briefly and no choices). I look forward to picking up where we left off in ME1.
The cover system is a challenge, but it will just take time getting used to it again. Similar issues existed in the previous versions for me. I liked the fact that there weren't a lot of spoilers.
I like the roll action, just have to use it enough to make it effective and efficient. Wish it was a little longer in length, but it certainly got me familiar with the action and story again!
Thanks!

Well, all I can say is this is the scariest demo I have ever played. Mass Effect is my most favourite series of all time (and that time is 12 years by the way). I realise that the final game can be a lot better than the demo and that's why I haven't cancelled my pre-order, but oh my god was I scared by the demo...

I picked what in the CC looked like a normal/slightly tanned caucasian color skin but in-game my Shep looked like a ghost.
I also want to add that I really liked the female Krogan design...well her clothes XD

This is a pretty accurate representation of my thoughts on the demo. Other than that, it was great. I enjoyed it. :happy:burr beer wrote...
Enforcing the 4 gun loadout in the second mission really crippled every class except the soldier in terms of gameplay. It will definitely discourage players who haven't played mass effect before and are trying the demo from using powers as they take too long to recharge with that many weapons equipped.
Other than that, the length was pretty good for a demo.

- Good intro section, reasonably well written (though I know the full game will have more depth).
- Not too intrusive a tutorial with Anderson
- Decent CC (not that it matters to me, all my Sheps will be imported)
- Combat will need getting used to, but generally enjoyed it (Soldier with Cryo Ammo/Hardcore. Loooooong CD for AR, but decent otherwise. Finally using medigel and grenades regularly).
- Story is a little lacking, but to be expected.
- Pretty much the only con was the weird running anim but eh can live with it.

Gameplay was very enjoyable(surprisingly, more than i thought it would be), insanity gave me a nice challenge especially during the atlas mech fight. I won't judge the narrative because it's completely out of context and dumbed down on dialog choices. console GFX were quite frankly, mind blowing while PCs were the ported version i expected them to be (which is to say, mediocre, and if you were expecting anything else you were kidding yourself).
However, on the technical side of things on consoles (PS3) there are some terribad framerate and screen tearing issues. Literally the entire earth intro was crawling and during that last part where you wait for the normandy to pop the background turned black. on the second mission it was less noticeable but still quite present (especially during cutscenes). now i'm gonna assume the demo is basically what was shown on E3 put together and so is not the gold version, but part of me is still afraid these issues will persist in the full game.
on a side note, the intro screen was exactly how i envisioned it in my mind, music and all. literally one for one. the exposition on earth before the attack is also identical to how i imagined it except that shepard is advising them how to stop the reapers instead of standing trial. kinda feel like i could've been a dev on this one
seriously though bioware, i hope to god you've ironed out those unbearable technical issues and you're just pulling a BF3 beta on us. otherwise, goddamn...

I didn't like the small choice of dialogue options like many others, I just hope this isn't the case in the full game.
I tried playing the game on insanity and it was quite difficult, which I actually liked. During the first mission when I got the assault rifle, I noticed I could simply keep using the throw ability on enemies without giving them the chance to get up, that seemd to a bit out of place in my opinion.
The lack of weapon loadout was dissapointing in the second mission since the cooldowns were just way too long on powers, yet at the same time, Liara could spam singularity non-stop on enemies. Even on insanity, my team members didn't seem to die at all, it seems that squad placement has taken a back seat really, although I can't complain since it was simply horrible in Mass Effect 1.
Now, the technical aspect of the game seemed to have actually taken a hit in performance. My system is an Intel i3 2100 3.1Ghz, 4gb of ram and MSI HD6850 1GB and it ran both Mass Effect 1 and 2 quite well, constant 60 fps, a few stutters here and there when loading a new area, pretty natural for Unreal Engine games. I noticed a lot more stuttering in the demo compared to the previous installments. It might be the game but it might also be that ATI drivers need to be updated for the game.
The graphics look nice, I'm not really the one to complain about muddy textures but some un-polished places seem to be the fault of lazyness by the devs, like the scene where you talk to the kid who is in the air ducts, if you look to the left, you can see that someone bursted open an ink bottle against the wall.
I was pretty sure I was going to pre-order the game but the demo kinda scared me. Usually, demos show a glimpse of the final product, meaning the demo is supposed to be great and without flawes because a demo is simply a commercial for gamers.
When I see developers saying that they left some dialogues out and didn't give a final touch here and there in the demo then it either means: the devs are lying or they were just lazy.

Only thing which isn't really smooth is the cover system. Some tweaks there would definitely help the game to getting better.
Edit: Not to forget the sprinting animation and the walk speed. horrible.

Are we sure that this is how the full games starts and that there is not a bit before hand that we havent seen when Shep is relieved from duty? I would think there would as least be a large FMV scene to fill in all the back story for newcomers and perhaps some playable content too?
From my play through of the demo I would be anticpating that the first part is NOT the start of the game proper!

There are a lot of comments about how the intro started too quick/no explanation about how Shep got there/no back story etc.

I would not hope for some explanation. Maybe some Genesis type comic for new players where you get a small explanation of the events between ME2 an ME3.
Also, the story between 2 and 3 is covered by the Dark Horse Comics. Just spend some more money.

My only combat gripe was that I was kind of crippled in the second mission as an Adept because of the forced weapons loadout and didn't realize that's why my Shepard wasn't blasting enemies to pieces with a barrage of Warps like he was in the intro until I read some of the posts on here.
Would have liked a little more time with squadmates but I understand why it would have been left out for the demo.
Overall I regret playing the demo only because it makes me want Mass Effect 3 all the more, and thus makes the days till its release all the more excruciating (to say nothing of how I'll be spending them learning Hebrew xD )

- While we couldn't import our Sheps, I liked that we were able to input our face codes. Pretty awesome being able to see our Sheps back in action and how they'll look for ME3. Quite a bonus, imo.
- I'm in love with how seamless the camera swiches between action and cutscenes. Really well done. Nothing felt jarring, the camera would pull back smoothly and transitions felt very natural.
- I think it's fantastic that all player classes were included as well as being able to drop some points on a simple build during the Sur'Kesh portion of the demo. As an engineer I got to try out the turret, see how durable drone is now (drone is literally a digital wrecking ball - love it), got to peruse talent tree upgrades and was quite satisfied with the progression of abilities.
- I liked that three levels of difficulty are included. I gnashed my teeth a few times running through insanity Sur'Kesh, but I'm impressed with how difficult it is. Along with that, it was absolutely awesome to see the AI in action : Cerberus troops rolling away from or out of singularity, engineers repairing turrets, some enemies being unshielded, flanking!
- The roll system bothers me a little bit, but I expect with more practice I'll get used to it. I felt at times that Shepard would roll when I tried to drop into cover which left me exposed and well, dead.
- I would have liked to see the interupt system back in action, but I'm looking forward to it in ME3.
- I would have liked to see how the equipment / weapon upgrade station works and play around with it a bit, again I'm looking forward to it in ME3.

The framerate is choppy, the sound sounds really weird(like it's muted) and dialogue sometimes cuts off..
What are you doing Bioware??

Pros: Combat controls are a lot more responsive; don't feel the need to use Roll all the time because the mouse response lets me move and aim just fine, UI is nicely scaled to high resolutions (no more massive pop-ups like in ME2).
Cons: While face detailing is good the problem with a massive drop in texture resolution below the neck persists, and because of the upgraded face-textures is now even more noticeable to the point of breaking immersion. Please follow the DA2 team and release a high-resolution texture pack for PC - the upscaled 720p from the consoles look really bad running at 1920x1080 or above, given how close to the screen you normally sit when playing on a PC
Character Creator Issues:
The re-proportioned eyes and subsequent lack of eyeliner equivalent to their ME2 versions often results in femSheps looking slightly off. I noticed that the eyeliner texture is still present for New Default Jane, so please put that into the CC for custom femSheps again.
The flipped "sexy hairstyle" really throws off the look for imported femSheps. I find it very unfortunate that BioWare took the time to make new meshes and no one noticed that one of them was flipped from the original. Click for pics

- Anderson running like Forrest Gump - this animation probably needs tweaking
- Power melee attacks take a while to activate and I seem to be missing my target quite often because they've moved by the time the attack happens. I even had trouble making contact with the husk stuck in the door
- Buttons and items are less obvious for picking up but this may be by design since they stood out like sore thumbs in ME2
- I definitely notice the different / lack of ambient music during combat, not sure if this is final?
- A lot of people are complaining about the lack of story development in the beginning but I understand it is a demo and you don't want to give the whole thing away. (I'm assuming there will be more cutscenes to explain the beginning of the game for newbies).

I *hope* that's the case, because with the exception of the intro feeling rushed, the demo was great.

However, let's get into some of the details shall we?
Pros
- Reasonably good textures for a demo
- Good attempt at guiding new users
- Love the multi-player feature
- Love the power trees
- SP or MP experience was smooth
- And just about every other improvement mentioned in previous posts.
Cons:
- BUG - Adepts playing in Insanity can still plow through enemies without firing a shot... so in the intro portion Anderson does not stop repeating "shoot at the husks" unless you fire the gun at the husks at least once. Worse yet, neither you nor Anderson can get down the step ladder to the lower level at all.
- BUG - The last Cannibal fight was interesting and it seemed like it never ended as wave after wave kept coming until it stopped completely. This was in Insanity mode and I never fired a shot during the fight. So as I finally fired a shot at the end after they were all dead and approached the trigger area, the Normandy appears and fires on the long dead enemies !!!. The logic triggering the appearance of the Normandy must be looked at as it appears it was designed for the soldier class that often runs out of ammo.
- Binding the same key to cover/sprint is definitely a bad and frustrating idea. Please fix this.
- Water textures around Vancouver do not look that well. While still not perfect, Skyrim and others model the water and skin it more realistically.
- Limited configurability of graphic quality
- Facial codes do not model as ME2 did
Cheers
