I have been someone who has supported Bioware repeatedly throughout the entire promotional campaign for this game. However, this demo, for the first time, has me genuinely worried.

What Did Work (Some of it was nice):
-I liked the combat. Fast, kinetic, and fun to play and to watch its a rather enjoyable experience. And yes, rather difficult at times.

-RPG aspects were rather nice and an improvement upon ME2.

-Audio across the bored was fantastic.

What I Didn't Like:
-Facial Animations. What the hell happened here? These are atrociously bad. I venture say even worse than the original Mass Effect. People look so lifeless and emotionless throughout. Seriously, how'd this happened? I would have preferred the old build to what we got.

-Dialogue. The writing aside, I was annoyed by the large presence of autodialogue and the near total lack of choice. I'm aware this will be rectified in the actual game, but seeing the way this played out was worrisome and disappointing.

-Invasion of Earth. After two games of set up, the appearance of the Reapers is actually one of the most rushed and disappointing things I've come across in this series. It feels so hollow and emotionless. The player is barely into the game world before they appear. It feels odd and lacks the punch this important moment in the mythology should have. However, was I the only one that felt that the invasion of Earth felt bizarrely hollow and empty? This is the big invasion. The big climactic battle that the series has been hinting at. Giant space Cthulu's just hit Earth and the whole place feels empty. Deserted. We see one kid repeatedly, but honestly little else. No soldiers actually fighting for their lives. We get the occasional ship explosion and occulus flying by, but that's honestly it. It just feels off, and I was nearly heartbroken.

I'm hoping things will improve outside of the demo and further into the story, but I'm really disappointed at the moment.

I find the cover system a tad sticky. Trying to move out from cover, I naturally push left to strafe, and space to exit cover, and instead find my avatar hopping to find cover on the wall perpendicular to him. I may just have to get used to it, but it feels a hell of a lot more fidgity than ME2. I died multiple times in the demo from having Shepard dive out from cover to take cover in a completely exposed wall.

I can't judge the storyline at all, but with the epic and provocative filled opening sequence from ME2, this opening sequence felt quite bleak and void of feeling in comparison.

Godrays!!! I love godrays! :)

The low res textures are disturbingly noticeable in this game, more so than ME2, which also had low res uniforms. I'm also annoyed at the strange smudging effect on all the faces. It looks like half the characters have dirt and oil paint smeared all over their faces.

Looking forward to unravelling the main storyline! :)

Overall, I thought the demo was great! It ran smooth (played on PC), looked good, and sounded amazing.

I'm not a fan of use, cover, roll, and sprint being on the same key though. That just messed with my head. If anything I'd prefer roll to be a separate action with it's own key. Otherwise, I find the rest of the controls and everything else to be very good. Definitely glad I preordered :)

Also, insanity is definitely hard. I love it!

pros: enemy AI is way much better, medi-gel is more useful, Wrex's armour
cons: non-combat anims seem lame and slow, few dialogue options, to many functions associated to the spacebar

I'd give 8 out of 10

Quick question regarding the multiplayer:

Why can't Turians roll? I can kind of understand Krogans not being able to, at a stretch. But Turians?

They lack... flexibility

Mass Effect 3 Single Player demo feedback. What did you think?

its 80% finished game/demo period. bioware has a lot to answer for if the final version is nearly as demo is...
btw i play ME trilogy for the story and rpg gameply so that should be a priority for ME3 otherwise we'll have ourselves another DA2 which wasn't bad, it just did not reach gamers expectations...

Played again, and all classes feel the same. Infiltrator didn´t have the Sniper Riffle, and could use the other guns. If not for the powers, I would say I played again as a Soldier.

You are not the only one concerned. I honestly don't know how I feel any more. I played the demo again today and found that if I completely dropped my expectations and pretended this was my first experience into the Mass Effect universe then I didn't mind it so much. When I allow my mind to react to what I am seeing and hearing, things start to go down hill. It was like watching a dubbed foreign movie with marionette animations. It was like "Aliens Vs Predator 2: Requiem" when I felt it should have been "Aliens".

I don't know what else to say. Priestly says to play the game first with the default settings cause then it will make your import playthroughs so much cooler. Take that for what you will.

Let's... let's not open that kettle of fish. DA2 has been out of sight, out of mind for about four months for me now and I'm doing quite well.

Bioware are you going to fix ps3 version or not? I am just asking because latest performance comparisons show that the ps3 averages 20 frames per second and yeah, you knkw, you said there would be no difference between consoles and well... there is a huge one...

I was doing quite well until I played this demo, and it was like DA2 all over again. I'm still in shellshock.

I had mixed feelings during the singleplayer part of the demo.
The beginning of the game seems like there is missing somewhat. Even after ending another ME1 and 2 playthrough with all DLC available last week I felt like I have missed something when James Vegas talked to Shepard like he knew him for a long time while I don't know who he is. It just felt not like a direct sequel, which was perfectly managed with ME1 and 2.

Another thing that looks like it was reduced somehow are the dialogues. I only had two options in every dialogue until now. No Charm/Intimidating and no Renegade/Paragon Interrupts during the dialogue. If this is not even in the full version, it would be huge letdown. The story, dialogues and choices are the most important part of ME in my opinion.

The cutscenes during dialogue were kinda weird. It was always zooming right into the face of the speaking character, like it wants to look into their noses. The "action" cutscenes, on the other hand, looked atmospheric.

The sound of the game was quite impressing but it somehow lacked the background music sometimes.

The combat felt good but please let us map seperate keys for Use, Cover and Sprint. The Space Key was the hardest enemy I encountered in the demo.

I am still excited for ME3 and think that a 60 minutes Demo can't represent an enormous game like ME, but I don't think that the full version will dissappoint me.

It may be only me but I found the animations and camera work to be really choppy and jerky. Rolling and diving just looks awkward imo and the reloading animations are also jerky. I also thought it looked like everyone was running in mid air rather than on any actualy surface outside of the cut scenes and the sprinting is awkward..especially for the female character as is the transition between jogging and running and back to jogging. Maybe its just me though...

Demo was kind of sketchy for sure. Cinematics and character models were improved as was my companion AI, which was appreciated. Combat however was a real mixed bag: encounters felt more dynamic and environments and enemies more interesting but the new combat mechanics, specifically the combat roll, felt imprecise and unintuitive and will no doubt take some getting used to.

As for the beginning of the demo, well it failed to engage me in any way. Watching Shepard literally scamper through those opening cinematics, I was struck with just how unconvinced and uninvested it left me. Maybe it was because I was watching and not directing the action, perhaps it was because things felt hurried and a little shallow, but what should have been an unforgettably terrifying and hugely significant moment for the franchise totally washed over me. Pity.

Still down for my CE, but the demo has dampened my enthusiasm somewhat.

Well, unsuprisingly, the story line in the demo had me hooked. Combat seems to be what I've come to expect, (good thing) but that's less of a focus for me.

There were a few places in the first portion of the demo where Shepard's mouth (particularly femshep) seems a bit.... off. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, it just seems odd.

I really liked it it, the squad AI and the Enemy AI are great. I kinda wish there were a few more branches in the skill evolution section, like 3 pathes instead of just 2.

But March 6 can't get here fast enough. : D

Bad:
its got the cover issues ME2 has, along with Gears of war cover problems.
why hasnt crouched been brought back it would be totally helpfull
the camera is too far close to shepard, needs more space
the movement is a bit loose while being clunkly

Good:
the combat felt decent over all
the powers seemed streamline like ME1
the "rpg" was sincer in leveling
i got to see wrex which made me go :DDDDD

over all its what i was expecting, pretty decent with some flaws.im waiting for friday so i can finally play the MP part of it

I've played through all classes so far my Fav's are Vanguard and Tech through normal and Hard not even touching insanity.
Though I noticed something when I played tech I popped in my drone on the cerbrerus ship which he booted 1 out of the ship then followed the guy falling, leaving the 1 which I shot with the rifle and hit him in the head and his head exploded. I was like oh so cool and I shot another in his arm and it blew off, not sure if thats supposed to happen but it was way cool never the less.
Also Andeson when he's walking his left ankle appears to be broken or he has Jokers Brittle bone syndrome as it look way bad and painful, but he's fine when he runs.
Another issue I have as I'm just choosing default shepard on both male and female, my last was a female shepard, soldier, spacer, ruthless and I chose numerous on deaths as it seemed fitting with the ruthless and after Earth the action part Wrex is there I was expecting the other Krogan from Mass Effect 2 not Grunt but the other one on Chuchunka. (Cause i assumed Ashley and Wrex are both killed on Vermire with Numerous kinda a inconsitancy)
Also I came across that really annoying bug in ME2 where you backup on something and suddenly your on top of the object unable to jump down just running around up top and getting shot and since there's no saving in the demo have to wait till i get killed. This bug needs to be fixxed!
Coarse I can see Kaiden with his rank but Ashley is a Lt.Cmdr. that just seems wierd as in ME 1 she was a Gunnery Chief and a promotion to Operations Chief how did she get to Lt.Cmdr. As she's a Marine not in the Navy when did she make the transfer because Lt.Cmdr is Major and she is now same rank as Kaiden I think she got some major promotions somewhere.
Also Tech is the best so far as I never fired a single shot from my pistol all i used was combat drone and flamed the enemy, which is wierd on Earth as your going up against husks and I only flamed em and not fired a single shot but after the reaper blows up the wall to the building I'm next to my pistol is empty, like Huh!
Also where's the ability to holster Weapons I don't like to point a gun in someones face as I'm trying to talk to them hopefully this is just a Demo left out option.
Also why couldn't you make a  demo that led up to shepards grounding a whole seperate couple missions to lead into ME3 instead of actual missions from ME3 with a more distinct fillin.
Ah well all in still having fun with it can't wait to try out the multiplayer part on the 17th as a change of pace.
