Where is the Weapon Upgrade table? I was sure they said there would be one but I can't seem to find it!

Ok the good things first:
Music was great. Didn't think ME1 style would have any future after the orchestras of ME2, but apparently it does. Also think the gameplay was better, tighter and more fluid and impactful feel.
Then the bad things:
Worst of all the linearity is back. It's just corridor after corridor, with added setpieces exploding. I really, really preferred ME1s levels that didn't seem like they were designed for a shooter from the start.
Secondly yes I can roll, which is good, but the gameplay itself still feels clunky as hell. No crouch? Bullets go through squadmates? Can't mantle without crouching behind platform first? And the camera seems glued over Sheps shoulder.
And third of all the choice. The thing that grabbed my attention about ME was the choice and promise that choices carry over to the next game. Well by looking at the demo I don't see any meaningful impacts to the story. Scarce dialogue choices in the first place.
All in all will buy the game, but certainly not because of the gameplay.
At first I would agree with you but then I relized ME2 had no crouch either. They got rid of it supposedly because it gave the player too much of advantadge firing back while the enemy couldn't touch you.

There is a hint in the demo about giant varren.
Yeah that VI was suggesting the Salarians should mutate the Varren for a attack beast. I guess that whole facility is to do all sorts of weird biological experiments and studies.
Crazy Salarians.

1) *squeeeee* Garrus!
2) Combat felt good
3) Garrus and Liara!
The bad:
Found a rather odd bug. At the bit where you're supposed to first learn to shoot at the three enemies on the wall I decided to use Singularity instead. Two of them went flying off somewhere and it bugged out. Anderson kept telling me to shoot and asking if I had forgotten how, even though there was nothing there.
Might want to break out the whips on those testers in your basement

And Cerebus having nothing it seems but Turians? Did I miss something? Like a thing in some book or comic or fanfic somewhere? If not then that better be explained in the full game.

Anderson looks like he's made out of plastic. It just struck me how stiff his animations were, how shiny and unrealistic his face looks when he was talking. Is it that hard to get animations and textures on black people right? :/

So far so good. I was pretty impressed. But I have to say I had some issues with some of the animations. The running animation was hilarious. In a bad way. The ME2 running animation felt more appropriate and the camera moved better with it, in the ME3 demo, the running just looked dumb. Anderson running in front of me was just laughable.
I also seemed uncomfortable with some of the "shot through cover" sequences. I don't know there was something off there. It felt better in ME2. I'm not sure if I have to get used to it but there was something awkward about Shep doing that.
Overall awesome job!

I can't recall this kind of problems in ME2. So it can't be UT engine limitation.
Im jealous of the Pc version for this reason alone, its health bar is a
much better size compared to the console version...i just hope it will
look like that on console to at release or atleast give us an option...

Ähem.
I found the demo pretty good, although I must say the graphics are a little awkward - but that´s probably just me, must get accustomed to them.
I could watch those Reaper destroying the city non-stop
The combat is more fluid, but I guess I have to get more accustomed to it as well. Wanted to go into cover and I just rolled away somewhere. Can´t wait to experiment more.
Damn, can´t wait for the full game!!!

-Animations are clunky and awkward , same as lip-synch , a problem that a AAA game with a giant budget shouldn't have.
-Graphics and textures are just embarrassing to look at , its the year 2012 and graphics are straight from a 2008 game , guess we can thanks consoles for this as it would be so hard to dedicate some development resources for the PC.
-Emotional levels are at zero: REAPERS ATTACK EARTH OH MY GOD THEY AIM AT SHEPHURD BUT HE DODGES THE LASER ATTACK SO ORIGINAL. I was just meh when the reapers landed. Also that kid thing about helping him and then getting blow up on the little ship was lame , didn't trigger anything deeper inside me. Voice-acting is mediocre at best, having some celebrities doing the job doesn't mean they are good at it, except Sheen.
-Weapon sounds does their jobs, as there are no laser guns in real life to record .
-Camera is far too close to Shepard , also works in a clunky way.
-Linear corridor maps , low-tier level design.
-No longer manual bypassing , thanks for the casualization and wanting the Call of Duty - audience, overall the game feels a clone of Gears of War,CoD and some badly written "RPG".
-Stereotypical bad or good choices , no "grey" choices.
- 2 min cutscenes , linear corridor walking and shooting , 2 min cutscene, linear corridor shooting , repeat.
-DAY 1 DLC bullcrap , please studios stop being such money hungry vacuums and deliver free updates to the gamers , as an appreciation for us.
-Screwed up lore and story, i read the leaked script, "You are the chosen one" - plot.
-Origin
Well , last good game Bioware made was Mass Effect.
Im sorry but this game is not worth my 50 euros, maybe i will pick it up when its 10-20e, after pirating it and going through the whole game.
I would rate it a 6/10 seeing a HUGE developer with a HUGE budget delivers this kind of low-quality game.
But hey , it doesn't stop the reviewers to give it a 10/10 thanks for the "extra-money" sent with the review-copy.
Go ahead Bioware fanboys , deny my fact based opinions and call me a cryboy, troll or crappy player. Also i bet that the mods bans me because of my "non-constructive" feedback , or because i cant express my opinions freely in this forum.

The other scene that bugged me is when Garrus does a pointing the finger animation at Wrex in the drop ship, I know that is an old animation from ME2 but it just felt wrong the camera should just be on his face not his body, that point of the finger animation just looks stupid. But I CAN NOT wait till March 6th!!!

Also, the little kid. I know they're trying to build sympathy for the people of Earth, but that was poor execution there.
Apart from that, it was good, looking forward to the full game.

Kinda short, sucks that multiplayer isn't available immediately, earth buildings looked low quality, no gun holstering, the cover system had me rolling into enemies/into walls without taking cover and getting me killed, and sucks PC users are forced to use keyboard/mouse. Was looking forward to playing ME3 on my new awsome rig after playing ME2 on xbox, but no 360 controller option.
Only good things were the graphics, the UI, and voices.
Had high hopes for the demo today, just to get one letdown after another.

The thing I liked the most was the improved melee
PS: I forgot to mention: Why can't I put my weapon away?! I think that would fix the issue with the funny running

Generally enjoying the combat, though I wish my adept Shepard could've dropped one or two of those guns in the second part - would've liked to have been able to use warp and such more often! Enemy AI seems pretty good - I was actually *forced* to keep moving around!
The opening was one looooong cutscene, and frighteningly few dialogue choices - I do hope that's not how it is in the whole game.
#174
Posté 14 février 2012 - 09:03
And the larger complaint: we don't ever have dialogue choices anymore! In cutscenes Shepard makes some serious claims about being skeptical about the Council. Claims that would get you renegade points in past games. And he/she just says these things without my input! Plus I want to tell Kaiden to watch his freakin' tone. These couple things are little gripes but if the entire game is like this, then it isn't my adventure across the galaxy to save Earth, its the adventure of just another space marine named Shepard.

The shooting combat, it feels I have more direct control then I did in privies mass effect games.
Suppose voice acting is up to snuff, but cant really say cause nothing that needs a lot of good voice acting is said.
Dislike:
I don’t buy this game for a great FPS experience!!!
Very little interactive dialogue.
Missing story/connection to my play trough? Demo issue I hope?
The pace was horrible hope it is because it’s a demo.
The demo has very linear level design.
The jump points this also adds to the linear feel.
No hacking just waiting for closed doors?
Don’t like the one button for everything. It’s just not handy to cover /roll/jump over and die.
You can’t take cover behind diagonal walls?
Not happy with the separate button for melee. Maybe a ME1 control for that would be more natural.
At higher resolutions the text becomes very small.
World looks plastic.
Animations seem stiff and walk strange.
Eye pixels are fighting for screen time.
Gonna leave it at that, probably forgetting some but this is what stuck after the first play trough.
I am still in shock.
