It's good to see impressions so far are mostly positive, especially since the SP side of the demo has been getting much more mixed reviews.

However, we need to keep in mind that all of us here so far who have reviewed it got early access thanks to Battlefield 3. Since that game is multiplayer-focused, it's logical to conclude that pretty much everyone here is favorably disposed toward multiplayer. The real test will be when everyone gets access to the MP portion of the demo, especially because we all know that multiplayer in ME was never a popular subject on BSN until Bioware started releasing the details. Then again, I'm sure many of the hardliners against multiplayer won't even give it a chance...

This is true, but I wasn't expecting much out of MP to be honest.  It's hard to imagaine anyone who enjoy's ME style combat NOT liking the MP.  It is very fun, relatively balanced, polished, and suprisingly challenging.  I mean have you guys played on Gold?  It is TOUGH, basically requiring maxed characters and good weapons/mods.

In many ways, so far I feel the MP is actually better in almost every way than Gears' Horde (except for control smoothness).

I'm sure there will be the usual grognards who still somehow think if they complain and moan, BW will remake ME in the Infinity Engine, but for everyone who's on the fence, give it a shot tomorrow.  It really is fun and addictive, and very Mass Effect.

Okay, great game and I am going to buy it for the potentially epic multiplayer as I tend to do. BUT! do not lose me and the potential fortune me and my competitive demographic are willing to dish out for a good multiplayer game by half-assing this and like Assassin's Creed seems determined to do. This has the potential to be up there with CoD, BF3, and WoW. I beg of you to devote the majority of your resources to this effort. In the mean time heres my first couple of hours of play (the most critical for holding an audience)...
What NEEDS to be fixed:
1. Why can't I map my buttons in multiplayer like I can in single player? If I can, why can't I easily find out how? Taking my right thumb off of my look stick to hit biotic charge (Y), when I need to be looking around quickly the most, is ridiculous.
2. I hope your ability trees go further in depth than what I am looking at now in the full version or you plan on releasing expansion packs. I am not seeing much as far as extended multiplayer play is concerned.
3. Thats all I have for needs, good job
Smaller complaints:
1. If the packs in the store are random why can't I trade stuff in the pack with my friends while at this lower level so we can build our characters to compliment each other easily.
2. Descriptions, ALL of them!. I am an advanced RPG and FPS player and I have no idea what ANYTHING is in the multiplayer. Your telling me I have to player single player to even understand the basic concept of, well....ANYTHING in the multiplayer before playing? Big fail my friend. Anyone who starts out without friends to introduce them will feel like a fool when first starting out. Not a good way to introduce someone to your game. Here, Ill break it down for you. I choose a class: I mean I choose a name of a class. There are no descriptions! I get past that and start picking powders to upgrade. Now I could go through each ability and describe why its description is lacking. Seriously, almost everyone. Honestly, you should have been paying someone to tell you for this. If you were, fire them:
Singularity: You couldn't just say it gets enemies out from behind cover.
Warp: Good enough
Shockwave: range and direction please. "a row of enemies?" That was the best you could come up with?
My own small tangent: Had a friend describe to me the difference between shield and barrier, Still don't know what the difference is or why barrier doesn't have its own bar on your screen.
Adrenline Rush: I am sorry, what? Haven't played soldier yet, have no idea what your talking about.
Concussive Shot: Flatten is flowery language for knock-back right? Thats fine but knock back, knock down, or stun should be there.
Frag: duh
Combat drone: haven't seen or played engineer. I think I get this but there could have been a longer description. How fast does it deploy, Move. I think you can get away with what you have though
Engineer in general: These descriptions would have all been fine if there was a unit description that said how often an engineer would have been useful.
Nova: Again, what is a barrier?
3. Why is confirm in the powers menu the back button. B is the back/cancel button. You make video games and you didn't know this? Thanks, now I have no enthusiasm to play the human female vanguard who just got her abilities accidentally auto-selected and confirmed.

Well my buddies are getting back online to test your game further. The game does have awesome potential. But so did AC, Lost Planet, and many others. I sure hope you have the resources to fix the problems complained about most to keep a large audience and fix them often. I shouldn't need to tell you that balance in the game will make the most people happy and spending resources to monitor these forums sufficiently is one of the better metrics for judging balance. But hey, you didn't know B was the back button.

I played the SP portion yesterday.  I absolutely enjoyed, even though I kept dying on Insanity to the turret part.  Personally, I think the MP got the heavy attention for the lack of weapon specification and customization in SP.

So, yeah, I do like Multiplayer more for the moment, but even without the BF3 access I would have said this.

I'm not concerned about the surge of opinions, I'm worried that the EA server is going to fall over more with the new players tomorrow.

In my mind this multiplayer system HUGELY needs to be changed and luckily i came out with an idea of how they could do that

How to Improve ME 3 Multiplayer
1. They can actually use the store/ ranking unlock system everyone else uses and just buy what you want. Somethings could be a lot more expensive than others. Its really not that hard to do, just look at Halo Reach or Combat Evolved Anniversary. It is possible and it does work well.
OR
2. They can have unique customized random box rewards and not everything all grouped together. For instance there could be a weapon box that would give you many of the same weapons you already have just upgraded and a 50/50 chance of a brand new gun. Plus a weapon mod box that would have a bunch of improved mods from what you already have and a 50/50 chance of a brand new really good mod. Then lastly a character box that would have many individual color schemes for characters u already have and a 50/50 chance of unlocking a brand new character

I freakin' love it.

My only two gripes are this at the moment.

1. Connection is sometimes a problem. Not often, but occasionally.

2. I think the races/classes should be level unlocks rather than random package drops. I've gotten more than anyone I know, but I've been playing for days, have a combined level of 59, and only have three other races unlocked.

Yeah, like I've been saying too I think it'd be nice to unlock customization for your specific character as you level your specific character that you're using currently.

So you'd hit level 5 as Krogan Soldier or something and unlock a new appearance option for Krogan Soldier.

I see what you mean.

But, what I'm referring to is the actual characters themselves. Like, you play with an Adept. When you reach level 5, you unlock an Asari character. At level 10, a Drell.

That kinda thing...

Multiplayer is fun, but I have to point one enormous problem:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lobby system is awful. I will join a random match, and 9/10 times it will pair me up with one or two others instead of three. You can wait for an hour, but your lobby still only has 1 or 2 others in it... somehow people aren't filtered into your games. Since there is no reduced difficulty, and no extra rewards for running a game with less than four people, I end up spending five minutes between each game just joining randoms, seeing the lobby only has 2 or 3 of us in it, then exiting to attempt to join another lobby seconds later.

I assume that when I find myself in a lobby missing 1 or 2 players, someone received the invite, but cancelled the loading screen. Or a connection problem. I don't know. This is not the problem. The problem is nobody is filtered into your lobby after the initial join. I am sure this is frustrating for many players.

Also, rarely I am put into a match already in progress. I don't know how this works because I have ran entire games with just three people and nobody joins up.

i also agree with Grahf's points, whenever i try to search for matches i almost always end up with only 1 or 2 people so i often just group up with friends

The one thing I would LOVE to see in MP is the ability to Melee an enemy while he/she is down, i.e. from a power hit.

I said this earlier, but since nobody seemed to acknowledge it, I'll say it again:

The revive button (on 360) needs to be moved from 'A'. I suggest 'X'. The A-button is too context sensetive, and considering you'll often need to revive a teammate while under fire, messing up and doing something else (taking cover, vaulting, rolling, going down a ladder, take your pick) could be the difference between winning and losing, or at the very least the difference between wasting a medkit and keeping it.

The X-button only reloads and swaps weapons when held. So if I'm not targeted on my downed teammate perfectly, I'll just reload instead. Big deal. Those animations are incredibly fast anyway. Please swap reviving to 'X'.

Agreed, why can't we finish off downed opponents like the AI can?

Completely agreed. This could very well be fixed by simply giving us the option of seeing a full list of current lobbies and their numbers, a la Resident Evil 5. I go on for a Versus match there, and it shows me all the current lobbies open, how many people they have/how many they're looking for, what gametype they're playing, and on what map. If this option isn't in the main game, just finding a suitable match is going to be impossible.

It's like Gears 3's Horde Mode. Once you start the match, other players aren't put in there unless they're on your friends list and/or you invite them. Randoms will not join.

Being a person who plans to play Mass Effect 3 for the single player mode, it just makes me wish that for BioWare's sake, I REALLY hope that their promise of delivering a good single player game is fulfilled given the lack of story in the demo (I'm hoping this is just for minimizing the spoilers). That being said, I'll provide my feedback on the demo.

The multiplayer really caught me off guard, being more fun than I thought it was! I wasn't even considering it until I gave it a spin. Sure, there were your typical ping issues, but that didn't really detract from the experience as I thought it would. Fighting wave after wave really felt epic and fast-paced, and the best part is feeling part of an I-hate-Cerberus hit squad: teamwork really is important.

But just like the single-player experience, there are some flaws such as the combat roll mechanic (which will take a lot of getting used to, or one that will need some control adjustment), and the fact that I can't start as a male Sentinel (not that the Adept that I made is bad).

Well, that's about it. I just hope BioWare's ME3 delivers in the single-player department as much as the multiplayer one; otherwise, it will be shooting itself in the foot.

the demo/ multiplayer is only for giving u rewards for single player and its suppose to be as well for just having fun and hanging out with friends but yes they are fully working on single player. Even multiplayer is reflected upon Single player, is based towards helping single player in your fight against the Reapers

I think that you should have included Geths on the multiplayer!!!

And, there's a little glitch with two stairs in the Firebase White... While using them, you can get stuck for several seconds.

I registered just to give me feedback about the reward system - is horrible!! Seriously wtf guys!? Is it so hard to make it like simple shop menu with all items listed so anyone can buy whatever he wants? This is just fake gameplay time extension so the devs can say "hey we have so long multiplayer experience in our game" yeah sure because the players will play 10 hours before they can get the stuff they want and actually start to play for fun. I was lucky to get Drell Vanguard with my starter pack, but one friend of mine got some cheap ass pistol... I don't even. Otherwise the multiplayer is good I guess, but as I said - the reward system is terrible.

uhhh the ones they say during each mission 0_o lol like: "They have intel on our fleet, stop them" ect and if u do that then u get the applied bonus in single player. It could be: "They have intel on Reaper indoctrination, find it" and you'll get some bonus with that in single player

In the full game stuff you do in multiplayer will affect the outcome of SP, however you achieve the same outcomes without playing multiplayer.

After playing a few times, I'm very much impressed. I wasn't excited about the MP, but didn't hate it. And it's quite brillian in fact. The action, the classes, the challenge. I'ts very fun indeed.
Also, having played GOW and Halo online, it's quite staggering the lack of lag in my games, since in GOW it was full of it. Awesome.

The only cons I found on the MP Demo are silly: Only 2 maps and just Cerberus as enemies. Obviously, the finished game will have more than that, and I can't wait for it :D
