i have a question.... are we going to be able to keep our unlocks from the multiplayer (ie my asai adept or weapons) into the full game?

I also want to know this.

plus, character unlocking is tedious.
Maybe it would be better if the packs unlocked a character for your current class instead of a random one in a random class.

I'm almost positive they'll be resetting everything again when the game is released as that wouldn't really be fair to folks that didn't play the demo.  Priest can likely confirm.

In terms of enemies you fight, you'll notice in the custom match screen that there's a slot for "enemy type".  That's all I'll say on the matter.  :)

I like the way classes are unlocked in that the system might encourage you to try a class that you wouldn't normally play just because you can.  I ended up playing my Adept a lot because of this, and that's a class that I normally avoid because I like guns...and grenades.

Cheers!

I have to ask, I noticed when playing, on the Character Select screen that the "X" button was listed as "Promote." It's greyed out so I can't click it. What is that feature and/or what does it do? Is it like Prestige mode from CoD or something?

Edit: Those of you who are saying they are "unlocking the same gun over and over" through the Equipment Pack purchases are mistaken. If you see that you "unlocked" a gun you already have, its really an upgrade for that existing gun. I have an Avenger Assault Rifle Level III for instance. Same goes with mods.

I really hope that they discard the random unlocks system - that just seems silly. Although I can kinda understand how it might keep you coming back for more and more, it would get frustrating if you kept unlocking crap that you never used. They should definitely allow the player to buy items they actually want, and just make them more expensive!

I have to admit I had my doubts about a multiplayer for Mass Effect, but you proved me wrong! It's one of the best coop-experiences I have ever had!

It works great, for me even a 9/10, but there also some little flaws which could be improved.

- The random unlocks
Something that has been mentioned a few times. I want to unlock the stuff I want. That would make me work towards something, but a random unlock where you have no idea what's coming, is not really something to look forward to. If I play as a sniper, I want to unlock sniper-attachments, no new shotguns.
I would like to be rewarded for the way I play and improve it.

- The map-variety
I don't know how the other maps look like, but those 2 that are shown, are a little too similar. Both are narrow and of the same size. I would like to see something more open, some bigger maps perhaps.

- Matchmaking
I would like to be able to join a group of strangers with a friend. Simple as that. I doubt it will be possible to add for the final game, just wanted to mention it.

- Playing with less than 4
I know, the difficulty is originally made for 4 people, but I would also like to be able to play with just 2. The difficulty should simply be adjusted. At least make Bronze possible for 2 people.

Thanks BioWare for the hard work on the multiplayer! Just fix these little things and it's perfect.

It runs fine and all that, but due to experiences with other players, i will be skipping the multiplayer part, they take it way too seriously, its a game, but they treat it like if you die, real people die and i got bored of that attitude before i even hit puberty.

We have maps that are somewhat bigger but not significantly bigger. We found in playtesting that searching for enemies wasn't much fun so the larger levels got cut down a bit. And we also ran into performance issues.

Some of the levels are definitely more open and/or have larger battlefields though.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that the random unlocks are a really good idea. At the moment I've been constantly playing a soldier, and I really want the Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator. But I like the fact that I can play a kinda lottery when I've finally got 20,000 credits. Still no Quarian, though, but getting an ammo type and some mods is far more satisfying when you don't know if you're gonna get it.

Just got done with a great two man Infiltrator/Engi run on Silver. We made it to wave 7.

Some definite pulse-pounding moments as I tried to solo waves at the end with only my Mantis and Tactical Cloak. Definitely loads of fun.

I love it, but rather wish those objectives weren't mission mandatory as those elimination missions are aggravating when there's only 2 players in a match and you have so little time to kill the targets. I hate those Nemesis as they always run away.:pinched:

My only problem so far with the classes is the Sentinel's tech armor and no Barrier for the biotics. The Tech Armor isn't nearly as powerful as before in forms of defense (which I understand) but I also would prefer it to explode upon expiration rather than be a constant thing. Gave it more a shield feel and provides some breathing room without having to think about it if you get swarmed.

well I played it with 2 of my friends today on PC, the exp system and unlocking new weapons/mods make it pretty fun and overall we had very good laughs (specially me playing as ADHD Vanguard with shotgun) its pretty fun distraction from the single player but I strongly suggest you play it with friends if you are going to play it, disapointment was that there was no chat option in MP, so we couldnt communicate with the 1 random dude we had with us in the game, Im gona try it on xbox360 aswell on the 17th feb when it comes aviable (2 origin accounts) however I cant really see making MP "THE REASON" to buy this game for anyone, its there for a small distraction & satisfying random bloodlusts but it gets repetitive pretty fast and im pretty sure I am not going to buy xbox live gold time becose of it, I quess PC & PS3 players can be pretty happy about the small alternative option they have when they dont feel like playing the single player and just need to kill some time...

After I made this post I was having a smoke and I tought about it, it feels like one of those small indie games that people make so here's a tought: make the MP of ME3 a small seperate game with 5-10euro price tag on it and I will gladly buy it on PC, like that stupid warhammer game that was released a small time ago

Um...It shows my origin e-mail address as my username, I'm really not into the idea of broadcasting my e-mail address to the internet at large. How fix?

Plus I think it kinda sucks that you have to "re-buy" equpiment even after the match is over and how "narrow" the objectives are. I understand its multi, but they could've made it a little more interesting. Take GoW3's Horde mode for example, the objective is simple but building defences, grabbing enemy weapons, selecting a "base", etc makes that objective much more fun.

Then again this is just the demo and doesnt show everything the full game has to offer.

Other then that it was ok.

I love the co op, but my couple of criticisms are:
The random unlocks. I would like to either be a able to buy what i want or we should atleast be able to pick a class to unlock something for.
And this one is more of a sugestion more than a criticism: We should be able to use the omni gel (down on the d-pad or whatever it is on the other platforms) to revive fallen teamates from a distance, instead of just ourselfs(Just like SP really).

lol I totally feel you man, SP games ftw.

In ME3 I'll be playing multi but mostly solo. It'll be hard but whatever. :P

I assumed that races were unlocked in story mode (So when you got the aid of the Quarians, you unlocked playable Quarians in multiplayer, for example) and it made a lot more sense than randomised bags. Those annoy me because I never get what I want, and are more about luck than actual effort/progression.

I don't have a problem with the Equipment Packs. You guys realize MMO's use a similar system with PVP Gear Bags? And it works and is fine and no one complains about it? Because while you may not get what you want, you're getting something, and the good "loot" you have a chance at getting.

If you don't get good loot, then you have to go back, play some more to earn more credits, and buy another one. Whats so wrong with that? Are you guys really upset that you're getting more replay value out of the game? I like the system, it gives me something to work for if I don't get what I want right away. Besides I've been playing MP since yesterday and you do receive some great unlocks. I already have the Phalanx pistol, the Viper sniper rifle, the Katana shotgun, a level 3 Vindicator assault rifle, two mods for the Assault Rifle, two mods for the pistol, two mods for the Sniper, etc. And while I started yesterday, my total play hours are probably around...5 maybe. It doesn't take too long before you start raking in some good stuff from the Equipment Packs. Besides the Supplies you get are useful.

You will get good loot. Just be patient and work for it.

Well, I wouldn't mind it so much, if it didn't get into the way of customization. I don't honest care that much about the weapons and such (I just use the M8 anyhows), but I would like to choose the character model I want to play.

I am loving the multiplayer! Really pleasantly surprised, great job bioware!!

Adept is AWESOME, all the powers are great. I love the new shockwave and warp bombs.

Controls seemed a bit clunky at first until i put camera sensitivity on high...for those feeling like the gameplay is laggy, this made a big difference for me.

Great map design, and I actually like the random boxes, it reminds me of getting a booster pack for Magic and not knowing for sure whats inside. I hope in the full game there are some rare vanity type items in the boxes as well.

The missile launchers seem a bit OP, they make the Atlas kind of trivial.

Incredible improvement in enemy AI

And finally the sound effects, particularly biotics....wow. Guess that advice from DICE really paid off.

Kinda similar with what other people are saying, im not much for the random rewards, but at the same time i can see why. So personally i can deal with them. Difficulty is a little high, but that may be just bcause im rusty and haven't played a game on insanity in a while. It is quite fun overall, if you can find a team that's capable enough to handle themselves. Close quarters players have been messed up though in my opinion. Someone like a vanguard who relies on being close to enemies perhaps has the chance to take out one or two enemies before being downed, even on bronze.
