My biggest issue is with the buying of packages, out of 3 veteran packs ive bought so far ive gotten the same shotgun 3 times and the assault rifle which you get as default. Its a good idea with but theres gotta be some way to stop repetition because its really annoying getting the same thing over and over, if we could get extras and trade them with friends that would be a great idea and be a way to make friends in the game, but as of now whats the point of playing if you just keep getting the same thing. Also is there a limit on how many medi-gels and cobra missles you can have at one time? I keep getting them and it says cobra missle x2 or x3 and i was saving them but it seems like you can only have 2 at a time. I was thinking you could only have 2 per mission but when i used one of the missles the next mission i played i still only had 1 left and i should of had around 6. Another problem is the 1 time use equipment upgrades, this is good if you know who you are going into battle with but as of now the 2 times i used these equipment bonus' the people i was matched up with didnt know how to play and the match only went to round 3 the first time and round 1 the next because low level players playing there first or second time ever were trying to play gold level matches, it really sucks when you finally have a good upgrade that you needed to buy 3 veteran pack's to find and when you try to use it you get thrown into a game of run and gun idiots who try to melee a whole group of enemies.

Hugely enjoyable on Xbox, see me playing Asari Adept a lot in the full game, but too frequently bad things seem to be happening that look connection related. These are made of:

Issues readying up or forever waiting for the mission to start

When a mission is loaded I get a screen saying Please Wait and press B to cancel. Wait long enough and I lose connection to the game.

Actually joining a game but being unable to see and hear enemies. I can however see the smoke screen from Centaurians, take damage and need reviving.

Old demo or not, things like the above so close to release are bound to put people off. Only 1 hardware lockup so far however.

One thing I would like to see though is that items from packs you get should be tradeable before you use them. At the moment I have pistol scope level 4 and all visual upgrades for my human female sentinel. Would have gladly put them tradeable so people could bid one or more items to get a new item or upgrade what they have already.

I really like the multilayer aside from the random boxes

if they do not change it, i wish they would make it so you have one free pick per class instead of them choosing to unlock the humans for you.

Just a note, I've beat ME2 on Insanity twice, once as a Sentinel and once as an Adept.

I find the Bronze level pretty hard. I've played over ten games and have only gotten extracted once.

I've started as an Adept but have yet to get an upgrade that is useful (gotten shotguns + upgrades, sniper rifle + upgrades, but not a single assault rifle upgrade.) It would be good to have purchases targeted towards the player role/standard loadout.

The game should scale if there are only two/three people playing. Otherwise you end up with everyone quitting, because even if you can make it through a few levels, you won't make it to extraction and get the big XP bonus. I've wasted a lot of time joining, seeing a three-person game aborted because everyone quit, etc.

Not being able to really hear enemies especially as they are flanking you is annoying. I'll only know if someone is shooting me if, well, I see my health bar go to zero and by that time it is generally too late. Make a minimap or something.

Instead of upgrading your guns through packs your guns should level up through use. I feel that the pack system is fun, but too random. I've tried to unlock a new character and opened atleast 20 packs and still haven't got one.

Oh man, a group of us almost beat gold today. We beat silver several times, once you get use to it, it's fun. I think silver is the perfect difficulty. However, since we were winning we decided to try out gold. We got to wave 9! WAY too many phantoms. I think there were 10 or so that we killed, and there were more coming. Not to mention the constant atlas that were around. At one point there were 5 out on the field. Coupling that with the phantoms, guardians, nemesis, centurion, and troopers - yeah, it was pretty ridiculous.

So rewarding though! I think my issues with the game - the cover mechanics. The same button that you push to revive someone is the same one to get behind cover. So many times have I stood in front of someone trying to revive them, only to get behind cover, pop out, get behind, pop out over and over. It's incredibly frustrating.

I've gotten use to the cover for the most part. It's definitely the game itself. It seems the characters love to stick to the walls, especially when you're freaking out trying to dash away. Then you just alternate between the two walls rolling back and forth. I suppose there really isn't much to do about this...but it's probably the most frustrating thing about the game. Otherwise, it's great! I spent the past 5 hours..6hours (?) playing the game...I lost track of time. I just kept sniping with my salarian infil. SOO good.

Edit: I just want to say - thank you bioware for the curving of abilities. It is amazing. Now I don't really have to curve them. I was wondering how this was going to play considering we wouldn't get the power wheel. Great job guys!

Little complaint. Can't melee enemies on the ground. Quick or charge.

It's annoying to use throw or some other knockdown and then have to shoot the guys. I want to get in some melee kills while they're helpless.

I'd gotten use to it, but then tonight I got the Asari Adept. Her melee attack is a shockwave which does hit enemies on the ground. So she has a big advantage in racking up melee kills. Would be nice if everyone else could do it too.

18. Feb.: 4 times multiplayer game freeze. 1 time in game. 3 times in lobby after countdown started. Display changes in my slot in N7 - 0. After that game freeze. Only restart was helpful (XBox 360)

Well, let's see...

Challenge is good.
The fact their neither AI teammates nor local co-op supported is abysmal and whoever made that decision should be slapped.
Pretty much everything else is great.

Honestly, aside form the shameful lack of local co-op and AI teammates, the lack of adjustable difficulty if going in with less than four players, and the Phantom shenanigans, i actually like it a lot.

I absolutely love it, I've been playing almost non-stop since the 17th, I think it's really great. Some issues with connectivity; the common glitch seems to be if I leave the lobby or get disconnected from a game, sometimes I'll have to exit multiplayer to the main menu then click multiplayer again before I can connect to any games. This happens a fair bit and is a bit annoying. Guess that's more of a technical issue though.

I really like the gameplay though. I'm glad there are no AI teammates, that would feel strange. Also forcing you to play with four players is actually helps more people get into games, so I'm happy with that.

I don't have much to say at the moment other than I'm loving it, can't wait to play more maps and against different enemies.

Well I'll give it to ya straight. I absolutely love the gameplay and the whole setup. You guys really blew me away it's an absolute joy to play.

Unfortunately the menus and netcode absolutely horrendous. I've given up trying to play the demo after getting disconnected from 95% of the games I play and getting disconnected on the menus randomly as well.

Fix the connection issues, add the ability to form a party to take into matchmaking and I'll play the ME3 multiplayer over any other co-op game types out there.

You've got a wonderful game here, please don't **** it up by making it as unplayable as the demo is right now.

another problem with the random class picks, is that i am leveling a character i do not want to play. I want a turian. and with every box that i buy that has another human female whatever i want to play less and less. there is nothing wrong with human females it's just that i am playing to get something instead of playing for enjoyment

not that i dont like it, i just want to be able to pick my race

Or, play a class you enjoy, keep winning the veteran packs and you're bound to get the class/race you want. THEN play the class/race. Otherwise, I suppose you could look at it as you're leveling the class you want to play. At least when you get your race you're not going to have to level up the character again. Instead it just starts at the level your human was.

Finally got to try MP this morning and I had lots of fun. Got a turian sentinel right off the bat, which was cool.

I ran into some bugs where one or more of my weapons might stop working, stop causing damage or stop being able to take ammo. I found switching them a few times would seem to help but I'm not sure. I also got a bug where the AI would stop interacting with me and I would stop being able to interact with them or with the game environment at large (ie: couldn't deal or recieve damage, couldn't climb ladders, use consoles).

when am i bound....because the way random works is that i am not actually bound to win anything.  i have a high chance that the class i want will be unlocked eventually.  But i also have a chance to play 100 hours and not have my class of choice unlock. which is a problem

One suggstion: The action button has too many uses. (A on xbox) I have found myself hopping from wall to wall to wall while I am trying to roll/run away, but the most frusterating thing is if you have a downed teammate and they are by an objective. It is almost impossible to press A to revive them when there is an objective close by that is near a wall, in the time that you need before you are gunned down. Many deaths due to that.

So the computer is like press A to: revive, roll, run, cover, start objective download????!!!??? LOL
If I remember the select button isnt being used... well, on the Demo

Love the Mass Effect series and tottally digging the Demo, thanks guys great work!!!

I believe in game there is actually something higher than a veteran pack. I'm pretty sure you'll get what you want at a quick rate anyway.

I also have to say...multiplayer has some superb potential. Honestly, bioware, you created an awesome game. I have faith you'll create some amazing DLC for it.

So here's it all, the Good, the Bad, and the Petty:

1) The Good:

Despite what you may read in the post, I'm a huge fan of the multiplayer system in general. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be writing this post; I don't take the time to criticize anything I truly don't enjoy, I just stop doing it. So if this post seems overly negative, that means that I probably left out some of the good stuff. But I'll highlight a few of the cool points.

The quick levelling up system and class unlocks have made me try classes I've never really given an honest chance to. In ME1 and ME2, I never played Sentinel or Engineer. I guess I just don't like tech! But they're rather fun on multiplayer; I got really lucky with some vet packs, unlocked turian sentinel and quarian engineer and thought, "Ah, what the hell?" And because they can level up quickly, I honestly don't mind giving something new a go. I still don't really like playing an Engineer personally, but that's just personal beef; I know others enjoy them, and I like playing with a teammate as one, but it just doesn't fit my playstyle.

I now finally understand interesting parts of the characters' psyche that I never fully grasped before. The first time I rolled into a battle as a Krogan and went into rage mode and slaughtered a small squad of cerberus guys, I was hooked. Later that round when an Atlas walked around the corner, I thought to myself, "I'm going toe to toe with this guy," and it was an adrenaline rush I hadn't felt since I played ME2 on Insanity as a Vanguard. I totally forgive the Krogan race for being a bunch of testosterone-raging warheads; despite beliefs to the contrary, in this virtual environment, it's really freakin' fun. Now I look at big enemies and understand why Wrex and Grunt are addicted to trying to see if they can melee them to death.

I disagree with the complaints about, "Where's my Quarian soldier? Multiplayer shouldn't affect canon if it's what the fans want." Let them drown in their own tears, so far as I'm concerned. Everything I've seen so far makes sense: Krogans in tech armor are going to be huge freaking tanks. Garrus was not an infiltrator, and there's nothing that suggests that that's a Turian thing. I do have some minor quips about character selection, but we'll get to those, and they're only slightly related to lore. As a whole, I generally approve of the current class/race selections.

2) The Bad:

Mostly this has to do with lobby interaction.

I was really hoping EA/Dice would bring in to this game the lobby search engine from BF3. Ever since I got introduced into it, I've never wanted to go back to matchmaking. Especially in co-op, where it's not like you're going to ever find yourself staring down a team of 12 veterans; issues like server lag, server location, proposed difficulty, etc, etc...it's much easier to search than it is to throw a bunch of virtual dice and see where they land.

I'm kind of impartial on the card system. As much as I say I want this class or that gun, sometimes getting it makes me not care about it anymore. Like, "Oh great, Quarian Engineer...and now I'm going to play Vanguard." That said, having more distinct packs (people have suggested "Character Packs" or "Firepower Packs"...I could get behind that) might be a worthwhile suggestion to look in to.

I'm not sure if you've intended it this way, but some classes handle everything easily, and some...don't. Asari adepts, for instance, can really stare any challenge in the face and come out the other end. Quarian engineer, however, I have to get really crafty to beat Guardians, Atlases, and don't even get me started on Phantoms with her. I'm a little leery about suggesting, "fix it!" because I'm already teetering on the edge of thinking that things like Incinerate and Carnage are already too alike, as are Throw and Concussive Shot...and what we really don't need is a bunch of different classes who all color the same picture with different crayons. That's what World of Warcraft is for.

The engine is, at times, astoundingly unintuitive. When I want to revive a squadmate, instead the game thinks I want to take cover, which is really misleading as it's the same button, and the "Revive" option at the top of my screen is lit up. Or I want to storm and instead I take cover. Or I want to start deactivating that node thing and I do a leaping dodge. I think you get the drift. Maybe you have too many things keyed to one button? I don't know, I shouldn't make suggestions, I'm just here to give feedback.

The "here's a grenade!" marker is clunky and misinformative at times, or I'm just not getting it. I get that there's a grenade near me, but finding out the best way away from it is surprisingly difficult, and there have been a few times I've wandered in to one as opposed to away from one. I'll have to look again, but the presence or absence of an arrow might have to do with it.

Quitters have become a huge issue after the demo opened to everyone. I don't think it can be stopped, and maybe servers are just getting hit hard and people are dropping...no, no. I've seen people drop after getting taken down twice in a round. And I know that that's not server lag. Is there any way to punish this behavior?

3) The Petty:

I reserved this space for my really minor gripes, mostly personal peeves. Ignore them at your leisure.

No N7 logo on the human armor? Petty, yes...but I kinda really have gotten attached to the logo. Especially when my Infiltrator is rocking the black with red stripe. It holds a special place in my heart.

It's a little comedic, but I'll put it in the petty section that only Assault Troopers and Atlas mechs can execute; meaning, so when a squadmate goes down, you'll see four guys crowd around the body like, "Look, ma, at wut I done!" waiting for the guy who's "aggro'd" to execute, who (no matter the enemy strength) will run through hell and high water to get to that body if it means he gets to curbstomp some tool. This turns an otherwise fairly logical AI into something like a deranged, rabid lemming, or like a Gears of War fanboy on a Redbull rush trying to get his curbstomp on. You may want to look in to this coding again, but as I said, at this point it's kind of comedic.

In terms of lol-lore, I was always under the assumption that the Drell were few and far between in the universe, considering they were rescued by the Hanar due to overpopulating their homeworld. I find it just a little difficult to fathom that they'd go about galactic war just because you'd already introduced the sprite in ME2 (and let's face it, they're there because you have the sprite already). And in that regard, I would be most absolutely amused if, somewhere in ME3, there was a Drell clothing store. Because it would have exactly one line of clothing.

Speaking of sprites in-game, if there was one thing I do wish, it was that there was the option for male quarians in multiplayer.

Did you really use Jennifer Hale's and Liz Sroka's voices in multiplayer for the female human and quarian, respectively? If so, bad form! With such a ginormous budget, you couldn't have hired some voice actors, even non-union ones, to come out for a day and record a handful of lines for a few hours? ...And if you did do that, that's fine. They just currently sound like Jennifer Hale and Liz Sroka. And if that's why you didn't have male Quarians in multiplayer (as in, you couldn't get Adam Baldwin back, or couldn't decide which male quarian's voice to use) ...then that's petty, and I'll call you out on that.

While I'm on a spritely rant (ahaha, my puns are endless!), I'd figure that the Frostbyte engine would have more easily-integrated movement sequences. Right now, it's just a little unnerving that the characters...glide. Like they're on strings. It just looks funky. As in, really funky. Especially since we just saw how awesome Frostbyte 2 can look even on console with BF3.

Speaking of BF3 and the Frostbyte 2 engine, I know that's been like a big selling point to us people with an inkling of design knowledge (or at least you've been selling it like it is), and yet the big selling point for it in BF3 was, hey look, destructible environments! Now how cool would it be if by Wave 10, the battlefield was a smoky mess, your shelter's been bombed out by the 3 Atlas missiles that have been shelling you, and all you have left for cover is this overturned sky taxi (hey...it has a fare meter!). Now, I'm sort of used to fixed environments because I've played since ME1, but really, those little barrels right by the landing zone in Firebase Ghost are stuck by omniglue and impervious to missiles? They should be making armor out of them! Clearly, they're of the same stuff as airplane blackboxes. The Reapers should be scared...or jealous. Or maybe it's secretly reaper tech, meaning those little barrels are made out of processed organic matter. Beware, citizens! You may be storing oil in what's left of your loved ones!

Alas, I troll.

4) Conclusion:

So there you have it, somewhat brief and somewhat witty feedback. All in all, the demo is sound, for what it is (a demo, an open beta if you will), and I'm sure most of the issues I've described have already been plastered all over the forums. I just try to collect those ideas and take an objective view on them. I think, ultimately, you could do more with the capabilities of the Frostbyte 2 engine, at least what we've seen of it so far in execution and design, but in terms of concept and foundation, the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer glimpses we have seen so far have made it far less evil than the scourge many of us thought it to be when it was originally announced.

I hope this feedback helps.

I'm with jwillis7 on this. It really does get frustrating when you're forced to play as a race you don't want to. Yes, you could just play the class you enjoy, but that still won't do you any good if you're still forced to play as a race you don't like, especially when the chance to get the race you want is so terribly low you can expect to see the same human female vanguard or infiltrator ten to fifteen times (in a row in my case).

It isn't fun when you have to constantly hope to get what you want, only to have those hopes crushed by getting something the player doesn't like. Some people enjoy this and even say it helps keep the multiplayer alive when you have to buy multiple packs before getting what you truly want, which I don't really understand. If  anything, it gets frustrating and eventually makes the person feel like their wasting their time.

As a way to fix this, I agree with everyone who has given ideas on how to make unlocking the aliens easier with the best two ideas I've seen so far (in my opinion) are 1.) You'd get a "free pick" to choose the race/class you want most from the beginning, and 2.) A pack that guarantees you'll unock a different character. These ideas make it easier for those who want to play as a certain alien and will most likely make the multiplayer experience more enjoyable for them.

The multiplayer portion is great. i really enjoyed it before you released it to all the other people who didnt play Battlefield 3.

The only reason i kinda stopped haveing fun is because...

- Too many quitters
     - i join too many games where party members leave because there is a "low level player" or something.
     - and also too many quit because they decided to run right into the spawning enemies and get downed but didnt get revived

i think there should be some kind of punishment for quitting games because not only does it ruin the fun for all the other players, but sometimes you will play to the end of a game just for someone to quit and you lose all those credits for the game ( but thankfully you keep the XP). a few personal suggestions of mine: lose XP and constantly lose more if you quit more often, or being temporarily banned from entering another game. Those are just my suggestions but do whatever you thinks best Bioware, after all you guys are the games developers
../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png

-another problem i ran into here and there was during the "Wave Events" or whatever you call them where you have to sometimes kill certain enemies before time runs out or you fail the mission.
        - Sometimes the target enemines never came down from up top of the buildings, which made it difficult for the team to kill and meet the quota time limit.

- one more thing i would like to add is the grenade indicator. im not sure if anyone else has trouble but sometimes its a little hard to read where the grenade is actually at. just a healthy suggestion.

Thanks for the great demo by the way. ive never played a mass effect game but im hooked on it already. good job Bioware../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png

does anyone know exactly what "hot key 7" means? I have a health pack that says it'll heal me when I'm incapacitated but I hit the "7" key on my keyboard and nothing happens. Am I supposed to hold this?

be great if I this could be answered save me a lot of hassle
