I'm not a fan of the randomness that's associated with unlocks. I play as an Engineer with only an AR and I've spent every single credit I've made on different packs and I've only gotten pistol and shotgun attachments. Kind of annoying.

I think instead of Recruit and Veteran packs it should be changed to Recruit equipment, Recruit Weapons, Veteran equipment, and Veteran weapons packs.

 PROS-
I've noticed many people stating that they greatly disliked the buying of random boxes and getting the same gun or previously unlocked characters, but I feel sorry for those people who don't seem to understand that they are actually unlocking upgraded levels of the guns similar to ME1 and free experience points for those characters to level them up faster. That said, I enjoy the system a lot. It makes me think about the character that I'm playing mostly and sometimes causes me to change my character or play style, at least for a bit. The challenge level can be quite high and that's really nice. I make it to level 11 even on bronze less than half of the time with characters in the teen levels. This keeps the game constantly challenging and always something to strive for. Then putting the challenge up to silver and gold creates exponentially more challenging situations.

CONS-
Zergling Cerberus. I don't mean the Phantoms, I undertand their role as melee characters (even though sometimes get killed by them from pretty far away without them even moving, so that's a problem), but sometimes I'll be in cover and suddenly two centuries and four assault soldiers will rush my position with zero regard for their personal safety which seems just strange and ridiculous and they win 99% of the time which takes away any challenge. It's also extremely difficult to play partially with your friends and partially with stangers. Either you create your own public lobby, invite your friend, and wait an hour for anyone else to show up, or you have to search endlessly for another public lobby with one or two spots open to invite your friends open. There should be some consistency outside of lobbys (think Battlefield 3), where you can have a group of just you and one or two other people can easily stick together and find a game with some other people.

The random card pack system is exactly like the one EA uses in Need For Speed World. Ideally it's geared to keep customers paying the chance of earning random parts and whatever else. Why it's used here is probably to keep people playing the MP co-op. Even from that aspect it seems kind of limited and someone made the connection to grinding for characters which it, very well, will be.

Well, the SP part is brilliant, abit too short for a 40+hr game, but the MP has alot of cons, i mean, it depends solely on the players' ability to work as a team and since majority of players that play these type of games, like call of duty, medal of honor, tend to just want to win as fast as possible, they couldn't care less about teamwork, which sadly, can screw over a co-op team.

I would have preferred a solo-option where you get reduced xp and credits and able to play on more easier settings, since i find mp abit dull and predictable when other players are involved, hence why i have been avoiding them lately.

That's because unless your packing the really heavy weapons, even the lowest grunt enemies can shrug off small arms fire. Now i know it shouldn't be fire a burst drop a guy... but there has to be compromise between Paper thin health and Bullet sponge. or maybe it because my luck in upgrading weapons sucks XD

I usualy use a sniper and an assault rifles, thought a would mix it up and use a shotgun but it was a pain as it was taken 2 or more shots to kill someone in point blank range. i wish i unlocked a krogan but nope still stuck with the default characters and i have bought so many of the packs but still havnt unlocked anyone else

Do you have any mods on the shotguns, once you get the accuracy upgrade and damage upgrade the shotguns become so beast that you will be replacing your assualt rifle for them...I have ;)

I was very skeptical about the multiplayer aspect of ME3, but having tried it I'm starting to come around. Here are my thoughts:

CONS

1. There should be more encouragement to communicate with team members, whether by voice or with hotkeyed commands/requests. I know there are voice capabilities, but I haven't seen them used once.
2. All genders for a particular class should be unlocked by default. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to play a female human soldier from the very beginning. I love playing soldiers, but I have no desire to play a male character.
3. I wish we could import our Shepards into the game to personalize our characters more, at least as far as appearance goes.

PROS

1. I love combat in ME3, so I love multiplayer combat by extension. Working together just enhances it even more.
2. I like how tactical the maps are designed to be. Having to utilize cover or having ways to sneak around and flank an enemy makes the game a lot more enjoyable than most shooters.

Simple the only thing that I would like to see is more random packs, ie, one more expensive than veteran

OK, too many times I went to revive and ended up hugging a wall instead.
Annoying.

Sentinels need some love too. Half their Biotics miss target and the extra shields don't do enough.

If that's what this is then I'm probably already done with it, the last five veteran packages I got were the same weapon mods that i've been seeing for the last couple of days, this seems like something that should belong in those facebook games where the motto is "try again, maybe you'll get something good next time, we're definitely not trying to put you in the mindset of a gambling addict"

To tell the truth I really wouldn't be surprised if on the day of launch there was some kind of notice saying "don't wanna grind for hours on end? unlock these individual weapons now for only 2.99 each!"

( Revised 02-20-2012 )

While I am enjoying the Multi-Player demo....unfortunately the  bugs and glitches which I and my team mates are running into do detract from that enjoyment.
Please visit the Multi-Player Game Bugs Thread.   http://social.biowar...3/index/9276332

High Praise to the map and level designers at Bioware !!!  The two maps I've seen ( Fire base White and Hidden Base ) are remarkably varied, and make the game play challenging...as players cannot see or cover the entire field at once.   ( What - no radar ? )  Ah well...guess I have to use my eyes then.....!

I think the one advantage the enemy has is that there seems to be no way to access those second story levels and balconies on the two maps.  Players don't have rocket boots or a long ladder to climb up there.  Fortunately the enemies don't seem to stay up there for very long - where they would have a dominating advantage.

The game really requires teams to support each other and one needs to adopt a certain play style to achieve victory... so you could say it really puts the "Cooperation into Co-Op" !

Because of the great need to have excellent communication with my team mates, I'm concerned that the volume from team microphones seems turned rather low.  I raised the volume on my microphone as high as it can go, but it still seems like they are speaking softly...and I can't hear them over the gunfire, enemies yelling and explosions.
Is there a way to adjust team volume ?

About the Multi-Player Opening Mission Selections
Currently players are presented with:

Public Match

Any Location

Enemy Cerberus

Any Challenge

Right now there's little ability to choose between the various locations, challenges, or enemies to fight.

When the full game is released I assume there be will be more variety in locations, enemies and the challenges ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm posting my comments about the game bugs as I experience them... on the Multi-Player Game Bugs Thread.
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/9276332
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree with other Players who have suggesting adding a feature to the lobby - which reports what the other team members are doing while you wait in lobby.

Player A:  is purchasing veteran box

Player B:  is upgrading / reviewing character Powers

Player C:  is reviewing weapons choices

Player D:  is ready.

*** There needs to be an option to text into the lobby "I need X amount of minutes to use the restroom...and I'll be right back ( ! )  for those who are not on mic... so the team members won't get too impatient and just quit to find a new group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is it true that if we're waiting in the Public Lobby...that if we  start with just two players....the Lobby will fill up our squad with other Players dropping in so we can start play with a full four person team ?
Is that how the Lobby is supposed to work, or may be working in the near future ?
Just finished a run with my engineer. I thought I loved infiltrator, engineer is such a beast. Not even level 15 yet and there's so much power and versatility in that class. And I have to say, FINALLY, to allowing the use of any weapon by any class. Engineer armed with Mantis and Avenger are giving me so much versatility. Unfortunately I can't become invisible for stealthy revives, but I can control a battlefield somewhat.
Yes, I play on bronze. I'll try silver when I get my courage up. =)
Wanted to reply to the last section.  By the way, I very much agree with the top section.
From what I've seen and what I've experienced, you are dropped into an open slot for a team that's getting ready for a match.  You are also dropped into an active match for any group that's short.
I was one of the people on these forums declaring that I didn't want multiplayer in ME3.
But now that I've played it, I'm totally sold on the idea.   I'm having a lot of fun and I can tell I'm going to play the hell out of it.
I Still Have A Few Critiques Though.....
1:  The random unlocks are very irritating.  I've got an N7 rating of 40 and I've played many hours of multiplayer and I still haven't unlocked any new character classes.
2:  I hope some of the levels make better use of the cover system:  I've learned to run and gun pretty well at this point; but I don't think the level design properly rewards you for making use of the cover system.
3:  Phantoms need to have more vulnerabilities:
  Stasis owns them and warp or charge works pretty well; but if you're not a biotic class (or a Krogan) you're completely at their mercy.   My level 20 Soldier with a shotgun shouldn't be getting slaughtered by them so easily.   At the very least hitting them with a shotgun blast should stagger them a little.
 Had fun playing the multiplayer.  Something that could be pretty sweet is if in some lvls of the full game have some boss battles from older games.
Yeah i tried playing it ME2 style and the enemies just either rush you or just angle themselves so they can still hit you
The multiplayer is enjoyable but I'm not sure if it has longevitiy.
A few quibbles:
I really dislike the menu system for guns. Its design is very counter-intuitive. I spent the past few minutes trying to switch out a sniper rifle for a shotgun for my soldier character. The top two slots look like primary weapon slots and you're given the impression that one of the bottom three slots has to be moved to the top in order to be equipped. Instead, you have to choose a weapon by swapping/unswapping and finalizing the decision by hitting "B". Usually the "B" button is for cancellations so it didn't register in my mind that this was how I actually selected a weapon instead.
I also think the controls are jerky. Play any Gears of War game and you'll be struck by how seamless that game's cover system plays in comparison. My character often feels brick-like when maneuvering.
I like the multiplayer in general. Here are my initial thoughts after a weekend.
IMPROVEMENTS
-Buggy at times, though notably less than many demos. There was even one match in which I--in wave 9, mind you--was suddenly unable to deal damage to enemies or revive my teammates!
-Random unlocks are fun, but should be limited to game elements which are not constantly teasing the players in my opinion. The key "fun element" of random rewards is the element of surprise. So surprise me with things I didn't know I could obtain! The most fun things I've gotten in a random pack are a shotgun-mounted knife mod and an SMG scope (kicks ass with the Kassa Locust).
-"Revive" competing with "take cover".
-Matchmaking system leaves you in a group of 2 or paired with highly disparately leveled characters.
-I don't know if this is my playstyle or what, but Vanguards still seem overpowered. Might just be me.
THINGS THAT WORK
-Enemies, at least Cerberus. They're balanced in a way that every class can tear apart certain enemies while having difficulty against others. Soldiers have trouble against phantoms, but my Engineer rips them apart with overload. My Vanguard (who has no points in shockwave) needs time or an ally to take down a guardian, but classes who favor sniper rifles can make it look easy. My Sentinel one-shots turrets with heavy melee, but my other characters die quickly if they aren't careful.
-Weight/cooldown balancing. (Such a good concept!)
-Rebalancing of biotics from ME 1 and 2. In ME1, they were overpowered, so the result in ME2 was a rebalancing for Normal Mode. However, higher difficulties gave all enemies protection, and made biotics effectively useless. The gold challenge in ME3 just ups the health totals rather than adding protection, so biotics remain powerful.
after playing the multiplayer almost nonstop with some friends I have found a few gripes with the game.
I've noticed that the Kroken and Turian have no 'evasive' moves.... ok I can understand why a Krogan wouldnt but Turian? they should be able to at least do those silly side hops that the Quarian does...
the other gripe I have are the the store packs: I like the idea behind it and for the most part I would even support it... but when I purchase 5 vet packs and get nothing BUT shotguns (which I never use) and a recruit pack gives me a character I already own but hey free xp. it kinda makes one pull their hair
I can't stop playing the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo... Pretty sure I'll never leave home again once the real game comes out. Also, I'm trying to unlock the Asari character but I get like 3 human male soldiers with each pack I get. -.- I want to be a sexy, blue, smurf-alien, damn it.
 The gameplay is as solid as i could ever hope but the leveling system leaves something to be desired. Mainly the supply box's... now if that is just a demo only thing then i have no complaints but if that IS how you obtain new weapons characters and items then that is HIGHLY annoying, luck based, and disorganized.
 Alright, here's my take on the MP demo!
Positive:
  • Well-designed maps that make for dynamic combat. Teams can create choke points nearly anywhere, but no spot is permanently safe. Graphical design is also praseworthy, especially Firebase White with its "classic" ME look.
  •  Gameplay favours teamplay, both by having notorious "lone wolves" succumb to superior firepower of swarming enemies as well as by allowing the different classes' special abilities to complement each other (example: Biotic Throw knocking Guardians' shields aside allowing for easier kills by allied snipers).
  • Characters "commenting" on the tactical situation by short reports and commands. Really doing a lot for the atmosphere, even though they are not moving their mouths (maybe this could be added in later?).
  • Missions are just insanely fun to play and a good way to burn some time. Not too long, not too short.
Negative:
  • Characters show account names, not actual character names. This is confusing as it makes character names completely unnecessary, given that you can only have one avatar of each class/species each anyways. It also unnecessarily takes away from the small RPG factor.
  • Customization is lacking when it comes to heads, or more specifically faces. Why now allow people to create their characters "old school" like in the single player game? Or is this something that is only absent from the demo but will be available later?
  • Storm/Cover/Use is linked to a single button. I realize this is likely a holdover from a more console-focused design, but at least give PC players the ability to split it up into several keys! Forcing people to endure this is extremely irritating, and so far I died at least three times simply because my character was not sprinting as I intended, but instead rolled back and forth between 3-4 crates, two times I wanted to interact with a mission objective and took cover, and once I tried reviving another player and took cover instead as well. I realize this probably isn't exactly a multiplayer issue, but as I'm staying away from single player until the full game is out I'll just throw it in here and hope that the final version will have this fixed.
  • No proper chat. I don't get why the lobby is missing this. Another console "feature"? Chatting in the lobby is a good way to deal with the downtime when one amongst the team is spending points from a level-up, or to discuss the last round's tactics, what went wrong and what worked well etc.
  • Unlocks of class/species combos are too random. I get that it's supposed to be part of the "play and collect" design philosophy, but after some time it just stops being fun not playing the character you had in mind from the start. Worst case you lose interest in multiplayer games before or even due to having unlocked it at all.
  • Unlocks of weapon mods are too random as well, although this is less irritating than the class/species issue detailed above. Still bad when almost everything the game gives you is meant for guns you will likely never use.
  • Connecting to and setting up games can be very unreliable at times, with frequent disconnects or "broken" lobbies that have you re-search until you find a proper team. I even lost 20k credits from a Veteran Pack purchase that just "got lost". I'm more or less expecting this to work better in retail, though.
May look as if I have more negative than positive points in here, but at the end of the day, all negatives are still outweighed by the sheer amount of fun I have kicking Cerberus' butt with a bunch of friends or, if need be, random people. This is just meant to show where I think improvements could be made to make it even better!
Alright I personally like almost every part of the multiplayer in this game. There are only a few things I hope can improve before release.
1: I sometimes need to stop playing to do things around the house so I hope u fix the game so u can quit without losing all xp or credits.
2: please change the store system so u can get more specific items for different play types like long range packs, up close and personal packs, or balanced packs.
