Thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer demo, much more than the singleplayer. I think the difficulty is pitched just right. As someone who is regularly killed within 5 seconds play multiplayer GoW, I was able to make it all the way to wave 10 on bronze after only an hour or so, providing I had a full team (or at least two other team members). It came as a welcome surprise to see team members helping each other out and working cooperatively, even without having voice communication.

One thing I did notice, shockwave power didn't seem to have any effect on enemies until it was fully levelled up, apart from the guys with the riot shields, who stumbled about a bit when hit. Anyone else have that problem?

I really like playing my Sentinel character.

However, I could do without the freezes, running-in place moments, lagging, and random server cut-outs.

And when I say 'freezes' -- I mean both match freezing and full-system freezing.

I'm avoiding the single player like everyone was avoiding that plague on Omega in ME2. Don't want any spoilers for the game.

So I started doing multiplayer, having pretty low expectations since ME has always been a fantastic solo experience... however, kudos to Bioware/DICE - the MP component is fantastic.

I ended up playing till 4:30 am and unfortunately had to sleep for a couple of hours to head to work. Each hour of the day now seems more like 5, as I patiently await home-time so I can get back into the sweet MP action!

the random unlock boxes are like the mystery boxes world at war zombies... sometimes you win sometimes you lose. still i'd much rather be able to pick what i'm buying--

Krogan Soldier.

So f--king amazing.

Tears right through enemy ranks like paper. Love how powerful their melee is.

Oh, regarding stability (in Australia) - most games have been fine. There was a fair bit of lag in some games and a whole bunch of games wouldn't load at all - for anyone in the game and I wasn't sure if it was me causing it due to being on another continent or if everyone was having issues.

I can't quite figure out if you're better off waiting for the 20,000 unlock or if it's best to get 4 x 5,000 - since you get more items (I think) but a lower chance of getting new weapons, etc.

Devs: What are the odds of getting something good for 5,000 compared to 20,000 - trying to see which is more viable.

Playing solo as a Level 1 Infiltrator...ouch. I haven't been able to defeat wave 1 yet, because they overwhelm me so quickly and I only have so much heat sink capacity. I ran out of ammo at one point and they just kept coming. They can also huck grenades at me at will, but I have like...one grenade. Ew.

I've tried getting matched up, but the server is like a ghost town...I'm sure I'll be okay once I have people to play with, but solo is not going well so far. It's fun, but frustrating when you run out of heat sink capacity and are running around, quite literally helpless.

So far the experience is just okay for me. Unfortunately, I've never been a fan of survival game modes at all, I always end up bored with it after two or three matches. I was hoping that the multiplayer was more like a co-op story mode, considering the single-player is a story driven third person shooter. The customization is good. I'd like a few more options like different helmets and options for individual armor peices, but I still like the current system.

The servers/matchmaking needs to be fine tuned though (which is part of the point for this demo, I'm assuming). So far I've spent about an hour trying to join matches and was only able to join one, which had major lag spikes every 15 seconds or so. Been playing it on the Xbox with my router's UPnP turned on, like the connection issues thread says is necessary, still having issues with it myself (of course, for some reason Xbox live likes to mark my connection as having a "moderate" to "strict" NAT, even though I've never had any issues playing games on my PS3 or any of my computers and I've taken every step to make sure it's as open as possible, so it might just be Xbox live). Maybe have the opiton for manually selecting a game to join instead of just quick match? Never understood why console games don't allow you to do that when most PC games always have and still do...

Pretty good multiplayer. Definitely needs work before I would continue to play it. Movement is really shoddy most of the time, gets pretty annoying. Also, competitive multiplayer would be nice. Co op is fun, but competitive is great.

I like...

- There is enough variety in classes that not everyone is picking the same thing. This leads to a mix of players with abilities that actually WORK WELL TOGETHER!

I don't like...

- Having to wait for all players to 'ready up' in the lobby. Just make it 3/4 to start the game.

- The random store. Its annoying to save money that is hard to come by only to use it to get something I don't want. Just let us buy individual items from a store.

- Being rushed by the A.I

- Not being able to use the same character name for multiple classes. I hate having to think up cool names for all the characters, so why can't I just have my GamerTag be my sole identity whilst playing? I haven't even seen where the character name appears while playing the game yet anyway...

You pretty much can't. Even on Bronze it's really tough (heck even with 4 people it can be hard).

You only get credits after doing the mini missions (like disabling the indoctrination devices, hacking the data, etc). Which happens at around wave 4 or so and is practically impossible to do by yourself.

Inflitrator can as you can cloak when doing each one to avoid some fire. But it's really tough and pointless.

I think the multiplayer mod needs a Chat system. Sure it seems like have a Microphone system but not everyone wants to use theirs on public games :)

Um...It shows my origin e-mail address as my username, I'm really not into the idea of broadcasting my e-mail address to the internet at large. How fix?

Wait.  Isn't there a "Change Origin ID" function in "Settings" -> "Account"?

question...when i hold shift in multiplayer, i can't drag powers into the hotbar...on my first character they were automatically put there, but on the second one they weren't...otherwise i like the multiplayer, just the races should be unlocked in a different way

It shouldn't be this fun! I just spent 2 hours killing Cerberus punks, and realising that Gold challenge is no place for low level chars.

Some points on making it slightly more useful for the PC :

1) A lobby chat window, that would be really nice.
2) Probably separating the cover/use keys? It gets really annoying when I'm trying to revive someone near cover.
3) Instead of only 2 "booster"packs, why not 3 packs of 4 items at 5k,12.5k & 20k, with the 5k pack giving no weapons, and the final 2 giving weapons more relevant to the current class?
Currently I can get something like 25k+ from 2 bronze challenge missions, but I sure as heck don't appreciate being lumped with 2 shotguns and a sniper rifle that I'll hardly ever use.
edit:4) It may also be helpful for new players to have challenge levels set to Bronze at the most, and then the host just bumping it up if the first game felt too easy. I know we got slaughtered one round with everyone at lvl 1 and nobody realising we were at Gold challenge. It was a short round.
edit2:5) Map balance. Right now Firebase White seems to be the superior map, partly because of the better placement of ammo and choke points. Of course an objective may show up and force you out of your snug hole, but on the whole it's more survivable than the other map.

Overall though, a good time. I fear for my free time when the game launches (after a suitable period to complete the campaign, of course)

i dont have any problems with it so far. i was playing with a few friends for about two hours and we only ran into one bug where my friend was stuck in a wall and couldn't get out. as a fan of the quarian race, i find it annoying trying to unlock the race... or even unlock any of the other races. i literrally unlocked the human engineer, and we both know that it come unlocked to begin with. is there a leveling progression system where I can reach a certain level to get the quarian engi? or do i have to continue on with the boxes full of unneeded gear?

You sure it was the right sex? Only the male or the female are unlocked at the start (forget which). You may have unlocked the other sex?

Gotta say I wasn't expecting much from mp... how wrong I was. Easily the biggest highlight from the demo as far as I am concerned. It's good fun, challenging, seems to have a good netcode, team oriented; all things I like to see in an mp component.

My only complaint so far is the unlocking system, not much of a fan of grab bags when it comes to weapons and customization. IMO ToR got it right with how it handled the pvp bags. Give us tokens per each bag that can go towards anything as well as the occasional unassembled gear piece which can be turned into any piece within the class. The boosters are fine the way they are although being able to purchase them individually would be a nice touch.

I LOVE the multiplayer! The only problem I am having is lading the full melee on the solider, the other ones have a sweeping motion so if the enemy moves a little I still hit them, not with the solider's stab. Also it's hard to unlock new characters and new attachments. It would also be nice to have some of the XP from the demo transfer to the actually game when it releases!

So far I'm enjoying the little I've managed to play. Every game I've been in has been plagued with painfully bad teammates that managed to get themselves killed in the first or second waves - sometimes in the very first five to ten seconds of a wave, even.

So... no fault of the game, really. It's not too difficult; people just suck at it, apparently.

You can unlock the same version of one you already have, it just gives you the option to change the rest of the colors, and it gives experience towards leveling up.

Ah, righto. I was wondering how I could add some more pink to my already pinked up suit.
