-Every single class feels good to play. In ME2, I had some contensions with Vanguard (as well as Engineer and Sentinel to a lesser degree). Now, thanks to the modular weapon and power system, every class feels good. Speaking of that power system...
-Oh my god, the powers. Capitalizing on power evolution in this way was a stroke of brilliance, and is a beautiful addition to Mass Effect.
-COMBAT MOVEMENT IS
-Unique cover actions between most races? Very cool.
-Melee. 'nuff said.
Here's some stuff I'd like to see improved on (in order of magnitude).
-Character customization is moderately disappointing. I'll break it down into particular aspects.
*The only alien I've unlocked so far is Krogan, so I'm not sure if the skin tone option is universal between the 4 "exposed" races. Regardless, it feels like skin tone should be one of the starting options, since it's so integral to the uniqueness of each character. All of the armor options are just additional details (more on that in a moment), but skin tone is much more significant to having a one-of-a-kind character.
*All humans are wearing helmets? Really? Unless I'm playing as my one alien (the Krogan), I feel like a robot. There's nothing unique about having helmets on all your characters (I realize how many Talimancers are going to call me racist for this, I don't care, it's canon). Having custom faces like on Shepard not only adds a whole level of depth between the player and the character, but also keeps the alien characters from looking like clones of Liara and Thane, etc.
*Limiting customization options to color and pattern reminds me too much of Halo 2. The problem with Halo 2 was that everyone looked the same, just colored differently, and with only a limited color palette, even that was moot. If you could add armor pieces just for aesthetic variance, then customization would be nearly perfect.
tl;dr Customization feels limited and half-assed.
-The shop is crap. I'm sorry, but having two packs to get every concievable item is just lazy. I like the idea of packs, and I very much like the economic way each pack is priced, but I'd much rather stock up on one particular power up than hope to get it by blowing a bunch of credits. Here is my proposed ME3 Multiplayer Store.
*The store will be organized into 3 main categories: Consumables, Armament, and Custom. Each category will have subcategories.
*Consumables will be divided into Equipable (weapon bonuses, ammo types, etc.) and Combat Items (Cobras, Medi-Gel, etc.). In order to prevent players from fighting using only the Cobra, each player will only be able to hold 5 of each Combat Item at any given time.
*Armament will be dived into Weaponry and Upgrades. In the Weaponry category, you would purchase weapons by type in a lotto-type system, where each purchase of a "Weapon Card" would net the player a random weapon of the chosen variety. Upgrades would be purchased using Recruit and Veteran packs, with each pack containing 3 weapon bonuses (M-IV Shuriken upgrade, etc.), and 2 completely random attachments.
*Custom will be divided into Character and Armor. Custom options like pattern wil be unlocked through packs, as will each individual character. If armor pieces are included, they will be purchased through packs under the Armor subcategory.
The following is the single biggest problem I have with ME3's multiplayer: Krogans
Two limitations were imposed on the Krogan which ultimately caused the race to become (from a pure gamplay-oriented perspective) inferior to every single other race. The first of these limitations is melee. While I have no gameplay related issues with heavy melee (it IS somewhat bland, however), and while I do like the headbutt, headbutting is the only melee attack a Krogan has. While this does given Krogan players the comical ability to headbang, it is also a carbon-copy of ME2's melee, which was slow and unreliable. For me, however, the headbutt is the lesser of two evils. The second limitation is a travesty: Krogan characters cannot perform any evasive rolls. I absolutely don't understand this. There is no possible justifiable reason for this. I'll give a little leeway: Krogan physiology would make it dificult to roll backwards. The problem with this is that by implementing tumbling with the Drell and sliding with the Asari, Bioware has already proven that they are able and willing to invent and implement alternatives to rolling. Why not here? It doesn't have to be anything elaborate. Krogan have legs, make them leap from cover to cover, or lunge, OR EVEN ROLL IF YOU ABO****ELY HAVE TO. Don't exclude a revolutionary feature arbitrarily!
