I played a couple minutes of a match and i found the tight camera angle to be a real hinderance. With my character taking up most of the screen it was hard to see all the enemies. Also the standard movement speed was really annoying.

Aside from that i like the class customization and the skills carried over from the single player game.

The store packs are starting to really frustrate me. I see the idea there, and I don't think its a bad one. But something needs to be tweaked or added to offer a more cohesive system.

Tonight I probably bought about 5 veteran packs (100,000 credits) and none of them offered me anything I really needed. I have a level 20 adept and so I only use the heavy pistol, so its kind of annoying getting 3 shotgun upgrades in a row. I understand I'm limiting myself here, but its just aggravating after a while. I just wish there was a better way to get what you need, or deserve.

Also, I don't think capping the levels at 20 is enough...I feel awesome and powerful, but you can only max out one skill if you have the rest at 5. I was kind of hoping to max out at least three, without having to seriously downgrade on other powers. Level 20 wasn't even that hard to get to either...maybe thats just a limit for the demo?

I enjoyed the experience! Even my friends who never heard or played of ME are enjoying this aspect. I can't wait to play matches with them online!

Although, I want to point out a couple of bugs I experienced:

-Skills and weapons not working. Only workaround is to execute a Heavy Melee
-Skills slots going blank when changing classes/characters in between games. Known work around is to quit multiplayer and go back

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it to the max! Something to look forward to in the future!

alrighty then ive been playing for two days and the multiplayer is pretty damn cool infiltrators for life, however i have only had a few games where I had a full party. When I did though it only multiplied the fun I had in it Bioware pulled this off nearly perfectly but I would personally like to see a few things tweaked.

1) First of all I was saddened deeply when their was no gender variation of the alien species, I can understand their not being female krogan but i would like some diversity by the way is anyone else waiting for Lando *the only black guy in space* Calrissian to show up anyways I digress I want to be able to play as female Turian, Salarians Drell and i was very dissapointed that I couldn't play as a male Quarian. I don't quite understand why all the females of these races seem like the unicorns of the galaxy but sorry i'm a bit tired of smurf space (the joke was not originally intended) where there is but one female.

2) Simply I would like the purchasing process to be more specified.

Please be gentle its my first post

alright here is my input on the demo. the single player portion is great gives us a little taste of whats to come but i dont like how its the same thing i saw at E3 almost a year ago. everything else about the singleplayer was great except the fact i couldnt hop into an atlas but im sure theres a little story in the campaign about how that first comes to shepard that hijacking an atlas is possible so its understadable to me that you cant yet. as well as 4 atlas's in multiplayer would make gold a cake walk im sure. and the kinect functionality when they said it was seemless they meant it it doesnt take anything away allows me to make a sandwich mid conversation.

now on to multiplayer and im very mixed on this. the pros. the combat is fun shotguns are now effective unlike me2 playing as different races is absolutely amazing playing with my friends is great difficulties are great and challenging. and lastly its very playable minus its down sides i will still play it over alot of multiplayer games even new ones coming out this year like then ext cod halo 4 borderlands or ghost recon coming out the same dayas ME3.

sadly thats my only possitives the store system is god awful. i got a krogan soldier a turian sentinel a quarian engineer a drell vanguard and an asari adept. now thats all cool i got one of every race except the salarians but i wanted the krogan sentinal the turian soldier and the male  infiltrator. thats not to much to ask. the weapons i get are a joke i know they want ot keep a lot of them a secret untill the main game comes out but i have the avenger x the mattock x the tempest x the shuriken x the katana x the scimitar x the mantis x the widow and the predator x. i like the new guns but i would like to try the hornet or the revanent the widow is fun but its not even a 1 shot kill on silver and for its wieght and practicly only viable with the infiltrator. the store system is downright terrible. who thought it was fun to begin with when all you get is usless junk from the recruit packs and all i get is the same character i already have from the veteran packs. but at the same time on how many more guns will be added it might balance what you recieve but guns weights do not balance with how they perform. the phantoms are extremely over powered they can remove my shields with one blast of there hand cannon the sit above me when im down so when i get back up they execute me so im dead for the whole round they can go invisible they can stun you the barriers are super strong they have a lot of health invincible during an evasion and the instant kill without revival is annoying and a bad feature. the combat engineers turrets do way to much damage per second making a mad dash across a field for cover impossible on gold. as well the turrets should be more like the modern warfare 2 turrets only covering one 90 degree direction so its more balanced. the powers are a little dissapointing in some parts like nova is usless on silver and up because you will be killed the small turret you get as the quarian i believe is very useless i thought it would be more like that combat engineers had then it would be balanced. overall i like the multiplayer but it needs work on balancing. change the turrets change the phantoms change the store COMPLETLY. and the fact that my soldier has bad powers and cant carry more than one gun is offensive to me. grenades arent that great considering it takes forever to restoke them and there easily miss thrown especially the sticky ones. so they should be restored fully after going near the ammo boxes as well as enemies throw grenades prefectly and is annoying at times. but my biggest pet peves are taking cover is a priority of reviving a fallen teamate and soloing the multiplayer when you have to capture 4 points while your defenseless is crap and should be changed for solo play. its very easily fixed so just fix it. any other problems people notice please share i like reading them. and the glitches in the game are minimal which i like great job on that. still siked for single player 2012 GOTY.

I too am not the biggest fan of the upgrade "grab bag" unlock system. While its has that gambling sense of fun, It gets annoying after getting the same crap over and over. This is especially frustrating when wanting to try a different race or a class and not being able to unlock it. Even more so when you're trying to focus on building one character and continually get upgrades that arent useful to that class.

I dont see the downside to just letting players choose where to specifically spend their credits.

Other than that, It's hard to judge only being able to play 2 maps and 1 mode/enemy, but based on what's available, its really fun.
The combat is smooth, intense, and never lacking in action. There's something really satisfying about Biotic rushing into an enemy and promptly removing their head with a shotgun.

The final wave extraction on Silver level (I havent tried Gold yet) is crazy fun with 4 atlas's and a huge wave of every enemy type bearing down on you, as you try frantically to hold them off long enough for the shuttle to get there - Reminds me a lot of the finales in Left 4 dead.

Overall, I like it, I dont see my self playing it extensively, but I'll go a few rounds here and there when im bored. I was skeptical of a multiplayer intruding on one of my beloved single player games, but as it turns out, it's pretty fun. I just hope the development resources BioWare put into mulitplayer wont end up detracting from the quality of the single player game.

Holy crap I love it. It's just AMAZING. I hardly play multiplayer anything but I love ME so much I had to try it and it's amazing.

I get people's frustration about the random item unlocking and the lack of a store, but I think it gives excitement to the game. You never really know what you're going to get and it keeps you playing so that you can finally unlock what you want. I adore it and it works for me, but for some types I can understand this might get a wee bit annoying.

A solution to this? I don't know, if you don't want to get rid of the grab bag system completely, maybe have a sort of rare pass in the Recruit and Veteran cases that let you go into some kind of store and buy 1 item with each pass. Sort of like a "you found this item in the case, go pick something out yourself" kind of thing. That might help.

All in all I really have absolutely no complaints. It's just a demo, but it's eating up ALL my time. And it's thrillingly fun. Oh kittens, I'm going to go play it now.

Personally, I think it's good. I'm not that big on online play, but this is varied enough and creative enough for me to come back. It's great with friends. Customization is ****ing awesome. This is probably the best demo I've played on the 360.

Something that should REALLY be fixed? Shockwave radius. I posted something similar in another thread and it actually got me thinking I should bring it to this thread.

Shockwave is fantastic except for one thing - the radius. Even with the pathetic upgrade option to increase it, the radius is just too small. I was in dire need of some help when 2 cerberus troopers were right in front of me. I used shockwave and it completely missed them. Not only were they a few feet from me, but they were a few feet in between each other. Apparently I shot it right down the middle to not even affect either of them. It seems shockwave is only useful to detonate at a range. Forget the CC effect, if you can even get it on them that is.

I'm not even asking for much of an upgrade. Even just 1 meter would suffice. Something to at least let it land on people who are right in front of you.

I'll add my voice to the reviews here, though it has all been said a number of times:

The gameplay was good. Using the A button for everything is a bit of a nuisance, but the animations themselves are a ton of fun. The pace of battle is quick and thrilling, and the powers and weapons feel weighty and visceral. Lovely experience.

The unlock system is frustrating. I will earn three veteran packs in a gameplay session, and receive three tempests. I've only unlocked one alien race (drell vanguard). Playing as the alien races was a huge draw for me, and I've actually put the demo away a number of times out of sheer frustration. If this is what I can expect from the retail version, I imagine the MP won't have that much longevity for me.

The matchmaking is terrible. I'm sorry, but I waste so much time putting together a team, I may as well play ME2 - I'll have collected the dirty dozen before I have enough 10+ toons to storm silver. As a result, I've just given up playing silver games when I don't have a good half hour to spend looking for people and watching loading screens.

Verdict: Fantastic gameplay suffers from bad matchmaking and loot system. I don't understand how they could succeed at the tough bit (ME gameplay in MP setting) and fail so utterly at something Halo Reach has managed for years now.

If the loot system and matchmaking are like this in retail, I won't play it long after release, I'll get frustrated and move on to the story (the whole reason I am buying a bioware game anyway).

My N7 level is nearly 80, I've gotten almost every class to at least level 10, most over level 15 and I've bought dozens of veteran and recruit packs.

I haven't received a single alien race, only humans.
I haven't received the rarer weapons such as Claymore, Revenant and Widow.

What the hell...

lucky you, my Soldier as been permanently fuxored.. I cannot use anything else but adrenaline..
funnily.. the rest of the options are available in the SHIFT menu.

I wonder if there is a report bug option in that demo aspect..

Hi.

I think the multiplayer is great. Pure and simple. I play Crysis and Crysis 2 multiplayer which I think are pretty good and I was very pleasantly surprised by the Mass Effect multiplayer. Great ideas, well implemented.

Lots of bugs though: e.g. I died in a game but didn't. This means I had a red tinted screen and could run all over the place but was stuck in the netherworld, not being able to fight or help, just saw some of the action (teammates seemingly stuck in one place while the enemy looked active). Could not get out until the others cleared the wave. However, it was fun if understood as a post-mortem experience...

I don't quite understand how the medigel works. I have it in stock, but the ability to use it is not consistent: sometimes I can sometimes I can't. Why is that?

Charge bug galore. I charge and stay where I am. Next moment (without charging again) I teleport and then back again. Strange, surreal feeling...

Indescribable bug following random events, could possible be called the "Dune effect". You flash jump between locations without actually changing place, "travelling without moving". This occurs more frequently on the mars colony.

The store system can get a bit frustrating, but at least it introduces an element of luck into the equation. Cold possibly get very tiresome in the long run. An element perhaps could be introduced with every 5. veteran pack or something that gives you one chosen item for extra cash.

But of course, there is still room on the store screen under veteran pack in the demo, which may already have something in it in the final version.

What I miss, however, is an in game communication possibility, at least a chat possibility between missions to say a few words to an impromptu group of players, who would definitely need to exchange a few thoughts on basic tactics.

Nevertheless, well done Bioware.

Hi,

I am enjoying MP so far.

Biggest problem I have with MP is unable to arrange my powers in my hot bar. Maybe this seems like unneccessary rant, however my infiltrator's cloak somehow removed from hotbar and can't get it back up, neither any new power automatically placed in hot bar.

If this will be fixed on live everything is golden.

Yes there is lag sometimes and connection issues. I can live with them on demo version.

I was pleasantly surprised by the demo, and have enjoyed it immensely, except for one thing: the unlock system. Quite aside from the random rewards system (which is, allegedly, going to be improved somehow in the final game), I repeatedly encounter the bug where Veteran packs give 5 common items, which renders obtaining some items impossible.

Aside from that frustrating issue, however, the game is excellent.

Overall it's really great. As with all multiplayer team games, who you play with has a huge impact on the experience. I've had an awesome time hooking up with some of the people on this forum who are dedicated to see the game through and focus on teamwork.

I've been having a few issues and encountered a few bugs.

Gameplay issues:
  • I think there's too many actions tied to the action button (spacebar) - I often wind up taking cover when I meant to heal an ally or start a terminal upload thing. Adding an option for a seperate "special action" button would be great, really it's only these two things that I can think of where it's even needed (squad healing & terminal activation)
  • I've played a game where we had to defend an area during a hack, but the enemy spawn point was literally right on top of this area, which made it nearly impossible to defend from the inside. This was on the firebase white map, at the shuttle landing zone.
  • What happens if I want to roll a new character of a certain class and species? Right now it looks like I can't, and there is no way I can see to re-spec or rename my existing character.
  • It might be nice to have more of an indication of where enemies are coming from, although not having a radar makes the game more difficult and forces you to pay better attention to your surroundings and to audio cues

Bugs:
  • I encountered a network bug today, where I tried to purchase an item pack but got a message about the purchase not being able to be completed, and to contact support if it continued. I tried a few times, when I realized that my credits were being deducted even though I wasn't getting any items! I wasted three veteran packs' worth of credits and got nothing. Please make this transaction more robust so that my credits don't get deducted without getting anything!
  • Once, all but one of my powers/items were not in the quick bar when the game started, and I was unable to drag them in, rendering most of my powers unusable. (Slot 3 was the only one that had a power in it as I recall.) Quitting the game client and restarting it fixed the issue. I had two teammates tonight who also experienced the same issue. We committed suicide and started a new game, but they were still having the issue until they restarted their game clients.
  • Been having trouble with host migration. I think it pretty much always puts me in a new game, usually with a totally different group of players. I think a few times I may have been put into a new game with players from the previous one, but I don't think it resumed the previous game from the round we were at. If it did, I didn't notice. Please either try to figure out why host migration is failing for so many of us, or reward players XP for games that terminate due to the host dropping out. It's frustrating to get to wave 10 and lose all your work due to the host disconnecting.
  • On one occasion, I tried to use Origin to join a game with a friend who said there were open slots, but the game told me that his room was full. Several attempts produced the same "game is full" message. I was IMing with him at the time and he said that this was not the case.

These are occasional annoyances in what is otherwise an awesome, visceral experience. Mass Effect has been a solitary pursuit up until now. There's a lot of joy in being able to play it with friends, and finally have a way to enjoy it along with other fans I'm meeting here in this community. Keep up the awesome!

Loving the MP except for a few things that have already been said but i'll tell em anyways....
* I would like to see the spawn points for enemies to be fixed, they sometimes spawn on top of you and you get totally flooded.
* Split screen on console pls. It would be awesome, playing with ones friends at home is the best there is!
* Boss waves! At lvl 10 give us a boss fight to spice things up.
* More objectives wich make you progress through a map. Like you hack a door to get to a new area where the objective might be to plant a bomb or something like that.
* Pay to unlock characters. I've yet to unlock the salarian Infiltrator..... enough said...
* Difficlty restrictions. Hate playing with lvl 1's at silver

I'm sort of confused by the end-game leveling system for characters.

I haven't really been paying too much attention about how many points a character accumulates over the course of their career, but if you receive 3 Points every Level (and there are 20 Levels to each character), you are left with 60 Points.

On my Level 20 Asari Adept, I have Stasis, Warp, Justiciar, and Fitness Maxed (while completely forsaking Throw). But on my Human Infiltrator, I am level 19 and have Tactical Cloak, Alliance Training, and Fitness Maxed (completely ignoring Cryo Blast)... but have no leftover points, meaning that unless I gain 6 points at Level 20, I will not be able to max-out Sticky Grenade.

Do some races get more points than others? Or is it simply a matter of point distribution? Because by my logic, I leveled up these characters exactly the same way... so I should have similar end results.

Also; why can we name our characters if no one (besides us) will ever see them? I would much rather prefer my unique character name was displayed over my head during Multiplayer than my Gamertag... if only for immersion's sake.

Firstly I agree with above post about the names, it also makes naming the characters pointless, but also I have a couple suggestions, don't know if they're already planned or if anyone would like them but first is I hope the game has Geth as DLC characters, perhaps a Geth infiltrator or Engineer, secondly I'd love an option to play as some of the Cerberus characters such as the soldiers, centurions, guardians, engineers, phantoms, nemesis, basically try out the bad guys trying to take out the good guys and gals.

-Camera is too close, especially when you play krogan, there is a good quarter of the screen that you can't see, very annoying.
-Space for everything is anoying, especially on the pc where there are tons of keys to bind. What happenedto the good old e for use, maj for sprint and space for cover?

Outside of that, it's pretty damn good.

From what I've played on the multiplayer its great, I'm only a lv8 Soldier and use the same weapons so the mystery pack thing hasn't effected me yet but its fun. Sniping the Guardians is entertaining as hell, the final wave is always a nice survival mission that gets intense when your team gets overwhelmed and starts dying. I also like the objectives that get added in certain waves. By the way my brother is in love with the multiplayer so now he has something to do when ME3 comes out because he doesn't care for the single player so.. *Thumbs Up*

This is for the XBOX 360 version, just incase...

What I liked:
- Character customization, even when it just limits to colors, although it could be slightly more in-depth; new armour pieces and such (the adept is my favourite character, but looks horrible with that helmet)
- Gameplay is good and it has variation in it (objectives every few levels)
- Game doesn't lag AT ALL Image IPBImage IPB
- The ganeplay is awesome!
- Enemies are pretty interesting, enough variation. Phantoms are scaryy! (The Vanguard is a good match, though Image IPB)
- Game that requires JUST enough teamwork is always good, It is balanced well in terms of points.
- I'm not too sure about the boxes. I like the idea of it, the randomization keeps it interesting. However you could be waiting ages for 'that' gun you want. Maybe being able to buy the weapon mods and things should be added, but cost more?

-----------------

What I disliked:

I'd rather have control over the unlocking process, oooor that things would unlock as you level, but some kind of shop would be good.
- Some issues with controls, like piling up everything to button A (running, rolling, wallhuging, activating things, vaulting...) Reviving in particular, especially when you're rushing because you're getting shot at.
- Only 4 races per class? Choosing your race would be nice, maybe. Also...
- Certain powers for certain races. I'd love to play the Asari with Singularity!
- When I was with my friend in a lobby, we never connected to other players except one time. It was on public.
- A little thing here... The colour white looks light purple? Light yellow looks whiter.
- I know this probably can't be implemented so late in development, but another variation on the game mode would be nice, such as attacking some sort of building/getting to the top of a structure, fighting a boss, grabbing 'intel' and getting the heck outa there. Would be faster paced(?) and would require more teamwork than you already have now!

- The lobby. Honestly, the worst part of the multiplayer without a doubt are the lobbies. Their slow to find games, players and connection (could be due to beta?) and then when you do find a lobby, the team will either quit out or won't be paying attention to 'ready up'. It's frustrating. A timer to the next game would be good, so games start within a minute or something, to stop idling.

-----------------

Also, this isn't exactly a 'dislike', but what's with the infiltrator's hunched back on the character screen? I get she's meant to look sneaky, but it looks like shes got a bad back and needs a massage or something Image IPB

Another little point is something I'd like to see added - On the character screen, the biotics hold their hand up, but it would be cool to see a blue biotic 'ball' in their hand or something Image IPB

-----------------

All in all, this is a great multiplayer game, especially when played with friends. I've hardly seen any bugs either, even for a beta, which is great. There's a few funny ones such as enemies flying off, though Image IPB. Especially after using singularity.

I do hate waiting sometime in the lobby for other players but it's understandable, there should at least be a message option so you can type something for example if you need the toilet, write the message so that everyone can see or if you're going to take the rubbish out or upgrading characters at least that way people will know that you're still there and not wasting their time.
