I'm sort of confused by the end-game leveling system for characters.

I haven't really been paying too much attention about how many points a character accumulates over the course of their career, but if you receive 3 Points every Level (and there are 20 Levels to each character), you are left with 60 Points.

On my Level 20 Asari Adept, I have Stasis, Warp, Justiciar, and Fitness Maxed (while completely forsaking Throw). But on my Human Infiltrator, I am level 19 and have Tactical Cloak, Alliance Training, and Fitness Maxed (completely ignoring Cryo Blast)... but have no leftover points, meaning that unless I gain 6 points at Level 20, I will not be able to max-out Sticky Grenade.

Do some races get more points than others? Or is it simply a matter of point distribution? Because by my logic, I leveled up these characters exactly the same way... so I should have similar end results.

I don't know the exact numbers, but you gain more than 3 after a certain level, and yes, you gain 6 points at level 20.

I like it ! I was expecting not to but it really is quite good. Reminded me quite a bit of Bulletstorm (chaining up combos and throwing people in the air) and Halo:ODST "horde" modes. I found most people worked really well in a team at objectives and reviving one another. They have poured an immense amount of customisation into the character classes, appearances and weapons. Like quite a few other people though I have been having connectivity problems on the XBOX 360. Dropped out of matches, other players seeing me as not ready when I am and also an annoying bug where you are about to spawn in the map and it just hangs prompting you to press B to cancel. I hope these issues are completely ironed out before you go live. All in all though it is a very polished MP and a nice addition to the SP which, let's face it, is the main reason we all want ME3.

Thank you, Bioware.You nailed it.

What I love about ME3 multiplayer:

- Teamwork, especially on silver and gold, is essential. I come from GOW3 horde mode, which I used to love, but in that game there wasn't an enemy that really frightened you, that you knew you would struggle taking out on your own. Everyone that plays ME3 multiplayer for a while will understand that working as a team is crucial. No other multiplayer game that I have played will punish you this hard for being a loner.
- The thrill of meeting a phantom.
- All the classes are great fun to play with, and more so when you learn to adapt your playstyle according to their strenghts and weaknesses.
- Weight/power-system is awesome! It allows you to really specialize.
- The unlock system. Yes, I said it. It reminds me of my past as a hockey card collector. It was frustrating getting the same card over and over, but damn, it made it all the more satisfying to get the one you wanted. People here complain about having to spend days before getting the character they want. Really? I hope it will take me weeks to get all I want in the full game. I hope there's an unlock I never seem to be getting, until one day it finally is in one of these precious boxes, which fills me with hope and expectations everytime I open one.
- All the finesse aside, it's also really fun popping heads in this game.
- Gameplay is smooth. Aiming, moving, everything.

I hope multiplayer mode in ME3 will get strong support from Bioware, that they will keep it alive with new maps and such. And I hope there will be leaderboards based on time to finish and/or points aquired.

The multiplayer has been amazing :D. Have logged so many hours of game play. The only problems I have faced are with Biotic Abilities.  I'm a PC gamer and I find if I select my Asari Adept there is a 50% chance that my Powers and equipment will not load on the assigned quick slots. Which makes play throughs difficult. Plus some times some biotic powers will not activate despite them being available.

I was a little concerned with the single player portion, but I absolutely can't get enough of the multiplayer. If the full version of single player plays as good or better as the multiplayer, then I think I will be very happy.

Focusing on multiplayer now, I can't think of much I dislike. It's rather difficult, but I like that. The challenge never goes away, so you don't get bored or complacent.
- Enforces teamwork.
- Allows for interesting character customization. (I like to use an infiltrator with a shotgun rather than the usual sniper rifle)
- A fun but simple store system. (really hope the full game has more than just recruit and vet packs)

My one concern with multiplayer is game types. The wave based survival game type with missions every 3 waves is fun, but eventually, even with different enemy types int he full game, I might get a little bored with it after a while. I'm not sure what else they could add, but it would be cool if they came up with something. If not I know I'll still be getting a lot of fun out of it before I get bored so it's not too big of a deal. It's an RPG, I know having multiplayer at all, that's actually fun, is a huge bonus.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but there's 55 pages in this thread thus far...

My major issue is with the matchmaking and the fact that you can't join games as a party (on 360, anyway). If you only have one friend playing with you, you only have two options:

1) Start up a public game with just the two of you and wait for other people to join - which sounds great in principle, except at no time when I was playing this past weekend did that ever happen. Adding singles to two-player lobbies is apparently pretty far down the totem pole of the matchmaking algorithm.

2) Have the two of you repeatedly quick match over and over until one of you ends up in a game with an open slot, and then invite the other one. This generally took 5-6 tries per person, which involves a lot of staring at loading screens.

My experience with MP so far is that you need at least a 3-person team to make any meaningful progression, so it would be really nice if people who could only scare up one friend to join them on any particular night would be able to get into games with a full team.

In all fairness, I must add now my experiences after this weekend and finally getting on for a few games.

Multiplayer is enjoyable. Much more so at silver and above with a good team. The only problems being all technical. Random disconnects which seem to happen more often the longer the game is running. Low level players in silver and higher. No team communication ability if you don't have a mic.

I can only imagine that once we can do more than the two firebase maps it will only be better.

This is probably due to the default quick match option being "any challenge" and the matchmaking algorithm not taking character level into account when placing players. I certainly didn't know to change that and ended up in a Gold challenge in my first match, which ended quite badly for me.

Perhaps the default should be Bronze - knowledgeable players can certainly change that to something else once they get their character stable straightened out.

Like most have said already the multiplayer is stellar! But a couple flaws that I have:

1. No one can join games, if just me and 1/2 buddies are sitting there waiting for someone to join.

2. Names. If we can create names for our characters, let people online see them.

3. Like lots have said, don't let the A button (xbox) be three different functions, very annoying at times.

4. I'm not sure if max level is going to be 20 per character, but considering lots of people have over 100 N7 in just one week, i think there needs to be more levels.

5. I have run into invincible turrets a couple of times and have ultimately lust because we didn't know where they were at first.

6. I hope in the full game that there are more than 2 packs you can buy, like many have said.

Those are the only problems I have so far, so bravo.

Multiplayer has been a blast so far (on Xbox 360). The gameplay is smooth with virtually no lag. The shooter mechanics work really well (when I played through the single player demo I initially struggled with the controls but after a day or so in multiplayer the controls become quite comfortable). The biotic/tech powers are well implemented work really well and grenades are the best design I've seen in a game (I suck with grenades in cod and halo but they are easy to use and effective in me3). I really enjoy the amount of progression in the multiplayer. Levelling up characters, guns, adding weapon mods, etc. makes me feel like I am building up my character in a natural way. However, I am not a fan of all the characters in a class levelling up at the same time. I think it would add longevity to the multiplayer if the character you used in the map levelled up as opposed to all the class members. (Example is when I use a krogan soldier and earn enough xp to level up, my human male soldier also levels up). The recruit and veterans packs are great ideas and I'm always excited to see what I will unlock in the next pack I buy (which provides incentive to keep playing). Also, the difficulty levels are challenging...even bronze is not always a walk in the park (especially when playing with just two people).   However, I would appreciate the ability to search for a game with 2 or 3 people already in your party. This needs to be fixed in the official release. It is great to play ME3 multiplayer with friends but if only one friend is online, the hassle to get into the same lobby is almost not worth it.

Thanks Bioware for the amazing demo....March 6th cannot arrive soon enough!

The multiplayer is awesome. Way better than I thought it would be. But there are some problems.

Good:
classes are balanced out and have their pros and cons. Vanguards are great for killing 1 strong guy and adepts are good for killing many weak guys for example.
--- The weapons are really well balanced. And heavier guns lowering recharge speed was a genius move.
--- The main pistol is very fun to use.
--- The shields recharge really fast which lessens the amount of time you spend hiding behind a wall waiting for your health to recharge.
--- the 4 items on the d-pad is a great idea. I assume in the real game we will have more pieces of gear to choose from and can hold more of it.
--- reviving is really fast and easy to do.
--- Cerberous enemies have different units and need different tactics to win.
--- Smoke grenades are a cool trick and only work at long range. Once you are inside the smoke you can see fine and don't have to worry about having a blind fight inside it.
--- Heads exploding is awesome.
--- Overload stuns enemies.
--- Riot shield guys have eye slots, exposed hands/feet and very little physical health.
--- I like how projectile powers (incinerate, cryo blast) arc at the last second which allows them to hit around corners.

Cons:
---Engineer drones are too stupid. They will just kinda sit there and not do anything. They don't follow you and they don't seek out enemies. And even maxed out they do very little damage. I would also prefer that they attack the second they are summoned rather than waiting a few seconds.
---Engineer's incinerate doesn't do that much damage to red health or armor.
--- I don't get how the infiltrator's invisibility works. Sometimes snipers shoot me and phantoms can stab me when invis. And riot shield guys can sense me too even when I cloak from behind a wall.
--- Heavy melee should lock an enemy in place. When a Vanguard does a biotic charge the enemy is locked in place. The same should happen for heavy melee as enemies will just casually step to the left and be fine.
--- Heavy melee needs a bigger hit box. Often times I knock/freeze a guy on the ground and then heavy melee and it misses the guy on the floor.
--- Grenades are an absolute piece of crap. This one is easily the biggest problem in the multi. You need to max out grenades before they even start to be useful and you only get to hold a small number of 3 max. On bronze grenades might kill an assault Centurian, but on silver they don't even kill an assault trooper if it hits them in the face. And the re-supply system is very confusing too. Sometimes when I go back to a supply box I get them back but other times nothing happens. Or I only get 1 grenade back. And the grenades are really slow moving.
----------Grenades need to have their own separate cool down, or at least have the ability to hold far more (like 10) and have a supply box refill system that makes sense. They also need to move faster. Grenades also need to be shot out in a straight line (like the Salarian's proximity mine)
--- Sentry turrets are too strong. Even on bronze a turret will shred you if you wait for half a second. And I don't know why, but they always seem to sneak up on me. I turn around and there one is.
--- The prize box system is interesting and a novel idea. I assume that in the real game there will be more than 2 options and hopefully the option to straight up buy certain guns/parts/characters after a while.
--- This one is kinda stupid: when I have a sniper rifle and use a spell the closing half circles make it harder for me to aim since confuses me as to where the center of the reticule is.
--- I have no clue how to slide over obstacles. I did it once by accident and can never ever do it intentionally.
--- Enemy heads have a small hitbox problem. When sniping I can sometimes see the smallest part of the enemy's head when they are in cover. But then I shoot that part and nothing happens.
--- Any number changes need to be explicitly stated. I think soldiers have more health and Salarians recharge slower but I don't know for sure or by how much.
--- Sometimes when I try to heal my allies I take cover against a wall. And sometimes when I try to take cover I hack a computer or something. Actions should be done by pressing X, not by pressing A. Nobody will care if they mess up a reload, but they do care if they mess up a heal.
--- if I start to heal an ally they should be immune to curb stomps. A few times I have been half way healing someone when they get stomped and die.
--- there is no way to recover physical health within a match.
--- Shotguns are weak. And have WAY too little ammo.
--- Nemesis and Phantoms move to fast and are really hard to shoot. Sometimes they can outrun an ice bolt.

I love the Mass Effect series, but what I don't like is the team work. No one wants to communicate with people they don't know. It may have something to do with ethics. I am not against anyone. But other people just don't seem to get along with people from anywhere.

Not going to read through 55 pages, but just my impressions of the ME3 multiplayer:

1) Tone down the turrets. They're far too effective at shutting down everything within range.

2) The unlockable system really needs to be overhauled. I know another thread said 'the random unlockables are going to stay', but it did nothing to explain WHY. Having to hope the RNG turns up in your favor to have the things that you need to survive (Cobra missiles at the top of my list) is asinine. And I know I was very much looking forward to playing a Turian Soldier, but I'd rather not have to slog through for hours hoping the dice roll in my favor. For most people their time is valuable and they're not going to waste it hoping to get that one unlock they really, really want.

3) Difficulty scaling. Bronze is manageable, a cake-walk if you have a competent team even with low level characters. Silver however becomes the wrath of an unforgiving God that will destroy an uncoordinated team. This would be fine... if 90% of players were capable of coordinating.

4) The 'A' button is used for too many things as was mentioned before. I've frequently rolled over a fallen player when I wanted to revive them. I don't have any specific suggestions on how, but functions need to be divided up a bit in this regard.

5) Phantoms, f*** them. I would complain that they're overpowered, but they're rare enough that it makes things more thrilling when they pop up. But even so, seriously, f*** them.

Other than those complaints it's pretty well done I'll admit. Weapons are somewhat balanced, and one has incredible flexibility with how you upgrade your various characters. The system of 'sure, your adept can carry a Mattock and a Widow at the same time, but good luck ever using your powers' adds another layer to the customization that is fun. I just wish I didn't have to play for hours before I'm allowed to configure my character to my optimal playstyle because the RNG isn't turning up in my favor.

Having played the xbox 360 multiplayer demo more, I can say that I love it. I was on the fence about pre-ordering but after 3 days of fun playing wave after wave, I placed my order.

That being said, I still have some issues with matchmaking. All of these only speak to my experience playing over Live.

1) If the host quits the game, everyone is kicked out and no one receives any credits or experience points. Lame.
2) You can't enter general "Quick Match" matchmaking while you're in a party. That is, if you have a two player party and want to fill out the other two slots, there doesn't appear to be any easy way to do this. Sometimes I go in a lobby just to see if people will quit out so I can invite my xbox Live Party.
3) Related to above, people quit out of the Quick Match lobby ALL THE TIME. Keeping all four players in the lobby until the game starts is very rare for me. I wouldn't be surprised if it is because people are doing what I described in 2).

A Possible solution for this issue: In the game lobby, where there a notice "Press X to invite Xbox Live Party", there could be an additional option that reads "Press (whatever) to fill the game party" and it auto-finds the needed # of players to fill out the match.

Thanks for the demo--it is incredible. One of the best Demo experiences I have ever had. Love Mass Effect. Thanks,
Marmot 1333

I was uncertain of the multiplayer aspect....I normally don't play multiplayer games, I play games for the story/fun and alone time from talking with people/friends...but I've played it for probably 12 hours over the weekend...it really grew on me and is alot of fun.....you have to use strategy with your teammates, and pick your weapons wisely so they don't weigh you down if you are going to be using powers, etc.

I like how you earn credits to buy the weapon upgrades and items....it makes you want to finish out a full game to get the credits.

Bronze difficulty is tough enough for me playing with every class in the 4 to 9 level range....I have only completed the bronze challenge one time.....have made it to the last wave a few times, but you really need fast reflexes and good teammwork.

Suggesstions:

"Mission Computer" overhaul, including a mini map or overview map
-   Right now I push start to access the "Mission Computer" it doesn't do anything....I highlight my teammates name and push X and it doesn't show any additional stats like Enemies killed, HP points or anything....this needs to be improved to actually be useful. When you access the "Mission Computer" you should be shown a overview map with the locations of your teammates in real time, and enemies shown in real time too, but only if you have the "radar upgrade" or similar.
Player names and stats can be shown in the corner of the screen somewhere.....

Is there a scale of less enemies if you only have 2 members, versus a full 4 member group? I think that would be good too.

That's all I can think of now.....keep up the good work!!!

Yea, I agree with everything here..well said!! :) **** those turrets!! Either make them easier to destroy with less armor or less accurate/less machine gun....Those turrents I can hardly see where it is before we are all dead, and then it's too late...I've been playing more than once on the last wave, there's no more enemies left.....yet we still manage to get taken out by a damn turret!!!!!!!!! :o

Damn phantoms too.....but yea it does make it more exciting/fun at times....you really have to have capable teammates to succeed.

MP is awsome. About the random crates, tottaly gives a different challenge as you try to unlock specific stuff. For example, I only unlocked the krogan, revenant, salarian infiltrator, on level 80 plus. Only thing that i don't tottaly agree, is the importance off the weight. For example, I only could successefully use some weapons with the krogan, because on other species, the delay off power was way too long. they should remove some importance to that, inclusively on the single player.
For example, I always play on insanity mode, and with the slow powers, it just becames very slow, cause I have to wait lost of time for powers to recharge.

Basically, much better than I espected, played for lost of hours, and still didn't successefully finished a gold chalenge. The importance of the team in also a great issue, cause it makes things more challenging as you try to be the top of your team. To finish, just a minor critic do to some bugs:
- enemies blocked outside the map area
- flying atlas
- lack of special ammo in the crates
- some issues around the finding servers tool

The cover function needs reworking (I assume same as in Single Player). Maneuvering around objects is cumbersome as they seem to have a magnetic pull to your character. Other times no matter how many time you mash "x" your character will not take cover against an object if you are standing right up against it, usually that means death.

Engineers setting up turrets as well as the turrets themselves have insane shields. That needs to be brought down a bit. Phantoms have completely shut down all my squad and I's attempts to get to level 10 on Silver, we're all high level too. One phantom is ridiculously overpowered, three of them running around...You might as well shoot yourself.

Love the demo especially the multiplayer. I'm playing the demo like it's the full game. Thanks BioWare.

I do however have a few a criticism.

The cover system works well but it feel like a magnet at times and other times no matter how hard you try you cannot get into cover.

When ever I try to revive a friend I sometimes find that I am not given the option to do so and in a heated firefight spending 5 second looking for the option to revive is effectively a death sentence.

I think unlocking classes and rare weapons via packs is interesting but it is far too random.

The combat engineers are impossible to stop once they enter the animation of dropping a turrent. something should be done to make it so that you can either interupt it or not at all.

Positive: Weapon/power damage is well balanced, good challenge with silver or gold, great map designs of the two we have so far, great mix of enemies, fun recuit/veteran pack system, and  cool character unlocks, the amount of ingame powere ups you can use is set to a good number also.

Negative: There are only two types of packs (veteran/recruit), sprinting is annoying b/c you can barely look around when doing so, sometimes you get sucked into cover when instead you want to sprint, more than four characters per class should be able to be unlocked to create even more variety, the leveling should either take longer or go further (the first day I got my salarian all the way maxed at lvl 20 but I wanted him to continue, this really kinda destroyed the gameplay after that :/), the engineer class's turrets are way too weak (especially the quarian's), there are some times when your character will get stuck in and or under the map and cannot move (very frustrating as it has happened around 6 times to me), some enemies on firebase white won't jet boost up to the landing pad, they will just stay down at the base and waste time, the heavy melee could possibly be a little more powerful?, and the heavy melee could still possibly lock on to the enemies a little more efficiently, higher controller sensitivity for players who would prefer it?, more weapons to use in the multiplayer?? there are a good number now, but in the long run the more variety=more fun..., its barely been a week and I have almost every character/class maxed out-something should be done be done to ensure that players do not become disinterested just because their favorite character stops leveling up.

P.S.- I am a hardcore Mass Effect fan and I love the series!! I only sound a little critical b/c I want to enjoy this game just as much as everyone else. With the introduction of Multiplayer there comes a whole new side to Mass Effect, but I feel that the thing that I would stress to fix the most is the leveling system!! I want so badly to continue leveling up my Salarian Infiltrator, with only a week of playing I became bored with the leveling b/c it grinded to a halt at lvl 20 then there is nothing more, in my opinion you could make it take much longer to level up and ad possible a reseting system or an uber high level cap??? (i.e 100... :P).

Keep up the Great Work Bioware!,

Copypasted my own comment on Engineer Turrets from another thread:
I have to agree that turrets need to be nerfed. A reduction in rate of fire, limited lifespan, and no activation if the spawning Engineer is stasised or dead will make them far more tolerable. On any difficulty above Bronze, it's far too easy to get bracketed by turrets and killed since the game pumps out tons of Engineers. It's especially bad on Silver Wave 6, where the game forces you to throw caution to wind in order to kill the enemy VIPs, who are all Engineers, thanks to the retarded time limit.

Also, make the visual customization stuff unlocked by your character's stat levels instead of the cards. I have an Asari Adept, but I can't change anything about her since the cards for Asari Adepts are rare.

I personally don't think the turrets are too difficult to take but the engineers are the far too annoying.

On several occasions me or a team mate will stagger the engineer but you'll see the pack for the turret fly off his hand and land then it will set it's self up if left alone.

Also remembered when reviving myself with medigel I have found that a phantom is able to preform their stab move on me when I am still trying to get up and get killed instantly.

I would love to see an option to reset a class or character. I'm happy with my Quarian Engineer set up but at the moment I am stuck with it.

Being unable to play a 4 player match with a friend makes this MP essentially useless for me and I won't touch it unless it gets fixed.

I love how the multiplayer actually works though, no complaints, I just do not want to play with only randoms when I could also play with friends.

Hello, what problem were you having with the invite friend feature? On what platform?
Thanks
