just to reiterate for controllers, the button layout could definitely do with some improvement:
the a button is used for too much (you try and revive someone but end up taking cover etc)
the b button for melee means its hard to turn and melee at the same time (as a krogan this is really frustrating)
suggestion:
use the left and right analog stick clicks for something (left for use/revive and right for melee maybe) and use something else for 90 degree cover switch (holding a button or the b button) OR
allow for button mapping (so if i like using melee often i can map it to the right bumper and use b for a power i dont really use)
also sometimes as krogan, i cant move forward from certain pieces of cover which is annoying

edit: also using the back button so i can check score and other stats without pausing the game, and the ability to check post game stats after leaving to the lobby

Fantastic demo. Couldn't be more excited about the game. Despite Mass Effect being probably my favorite game series of all time, I was caught in the hub-bub of other games and didn't feel my normal excitement for the next entry. After playing the demo I'm back on board with my excitement levels over 9000.

So I've been playing the demo for a while now and my question is, as far as the Veteran packs go, It says it gives at least one uncommon or better, but more than once now I've gotten no Uncommon things, just exp for Characters I already have maxed and full appearance too. Is this something that will be fixed in the full game? Or am I wasting my time buying Veteran packs now?

My biggest gripe is the movement. Getting to point A to B should be a straight line, but in most cases if I am too close to a wall or object I will attempt to duck or hide. Annoying...

The MP could use a statistics window, showing how many games I won in each map and difficulty, how many medals I won, this kind of stuffs. The total level is the only sense of progress that we have =/

..amazing job though. I spend almost the entire week playing, and it's only two maps! I can't wait fot the complete thing..

I hate the recent changes they made to the demo. The new enemy AI is not challenging, it's just plain cheap. Every enemy seems like they have a wallhack/aimbot now and drain your shield with two bullets as soon as they have a clear line of sight. I don't mind the extra damage they take, but I do have a problem with every grunt trooper being able to down me in a split second if I don't react instantly. I seem to be getting shot by guys from across the map now through doorways and crazy angles that is completely unrealistic, and it's sucking the fun out of this game.

Also, you made it to where classes who can throw grenades can only reload one grenade at a time, which completely defeats the purpose of choosing the 3rd grenade updgrade. You're telling me there's only one grenade in each ammo box? This was a very stupid change. I understand the reload cooldown time for grenades to prevent spamming, but for god's sake let them refill all the way.

Lastly, the turrets...oh those effing turrets. Change the AI of the combat engineer PLEASE! It is so dumb the way it works now. They will stand there getting blasted and drop turrets instead of moving to cover and using their weapon, like they have no regard for their own life they just have to get that turret down. All they have to do is get the turret on the ground and it sets itself up and starts shooting. Why? When you don't shoot the engineer he crouches down and sets up the turret. You need to make it to where if you kill him before he sets up the turret it doesn't deploy. The turret is so cheap the way it is now it isn't fun. It continues to hit you after you've run around cover, and literally the first bullet drains your shield. The waves where you have objectives are made artificially harder by the cheapness of the combat engineer. The game just keeps spawning them the whole wave and they just spam turrets the whole time. As soon as you blow up one turret the combat engineer plops down another, which is just lame. If it were up to me they could only drop one turret and that's it. It's a giant heavy turret and it disappears off his back after he plants the first one, so where do all the other one's come from? I'm just sick of having to destroy a turret to get to the combat engineer, and then as soon as it's gone he starts to plant another one, which I will have to destroy even if I kill him before he gets it set up.

Bioware, this game is awesome and WAS super super fun, but you need to make some serious changes to the game mechanics and roll back the AI. Start by changing the difficulty back to the way it was. Nerf weapons, make guys stronger, and add more enemies if you want to make it harder. That keeps it fun. Enemies with wallhacks/aimbot accuracy is not fun, and it isn't challenging. It's just cheap. No one likes getting hipshotted by a nemesis as she's turning to run away from you. Rant over.

Just kill th engineer, then kill the turret. It's not that hard.

I have no problem at all with the enemies. If you don't run like crazy in a unknow area, use the cover properly, learn to use the roll or whatever your species do, if you don't let they flank you, it will be just fine. 90% of the times I die, is clear that I did some stupid decision that lead me to death. Enemies miss the shot if I keep the pressure and move through the place in a proper way, and there's bad covers that you should avoid, or get out of it the fast you can. There's nothing wrong with the enemies.

I loved how they work in ME3, they are so much smarter, organized and using more tatics than ME2. If you distract yourself, rush where you can't or stay in a bad spot, they will get you. Keep sharp, you won't die (unless it's gold, then you probably gonna die =P)

Apart from a few class balance issues (some very minor, 1-2 major ones) , its pretty damn good.

Don't nerf turrets or phantoms for the CoD kids and don't nerf the random unlocks for them either. Maybe add another pack that lets you pick exactly what unlock you want for $200,000 credits AND 3 gold completions.

Oh and the controls do suck though.  Fix that, make shift sprint and alt/cntrl/tab the command menu.  Why combine everything like we are some dudebro morons?

I find it frustrating to no end how difficult it is to play with friends. It seems like you can only do that by creating your own game and invite them. The problem with that is that you'd need three online friends to invite because for some reason random people very rarely gets put in our game even though we make it public. We can literary play for hours and hours without any guys coming in to fill our public slots. However, if I join a random quickgame the slots fill up instantly most of the time.

Beating bronze with two people gets tiresome. I wanna play with my frends at silver difficulty or higher but for that you really need four people teams. Therefore the public slots needs to work as intended so that random people looking for a quick game can join us.

And to make matters more frustrating, if either one of us joins a quick match the other one can never join because it says "the game is full" even though it's not.

Please Bioware, make it easier to play with friends and fill up vacant slots with people who press the quick game button.

Overall the co-op is a lot of fun but it has more than a few issues I'd like to see fixed.

1. It's possible to play almost an entire match, have the hosting player leave, and be left with no exp and no credits for your trouble when the game kicks you back to the multiplayer screen (the step before the lobby).

2. Special races open up far too rarely. I'd prefer a higher chance of getting one with a veteran pack OR a third pack option that costs 50k-100k credits that auto gives you a gold class/race or gold weapon that you don't currently have. Make it cost 100k and give you nothing but the gold item if you wish. At least it would be a way to make sure you got something worthwhile when you've capped out a character or two and are tired of getting the Nth version of some weapon you never use.

3. I fell through the world on my Vanguard a couple of days ago. This is the only time it's ever happened but I hope little bugs like this have been done away with by the time the game is released.

4. Making a lobby seems to have a lot of issues. First, I'd like to see a higher chance of hitting Quick Game and getting into a game in progress. It's easy to spend far too long sitting in the lobby hoping for a 3rd or 4th person to join in so you can start. Maybe you could make a cutoff point where people would no longer randomly come in. Say wave 5 or so. That way the newcomers wouldn't feel like they missed out on most of the game.

It also gets very tiresome just trying to find a lobby sometimes. You hit quick start, it searches for a bit, then you get the "disconnected from the server" message or at times I even get stuck on the blue loading screen. This results in my having to alt-tab, kill the game, and relaunch. The lag during some of my games in the last two days has been pretty horrific as well.

Edit - Oh one more fairly major nit to pick. I hate having run and cover being the same key. Can you at least provide the option of separating those two commands into two keys? I get killed by unintentionally bouncing from cover point to cover point instead of running around a corner probably more often than any other way save perhaps Phantoms ninjaing me from behind.

Anyway, despite the above issues, I'm looking forward to the game. Co-op has been a blast and I'm sure having all the options opened up (more maps/enemies) will help keep it fun and interesting.

Thought the exact same thing.  I'm hoping it will be in the shipped game.  The developers have said that alot of what's in the gold game is not in the demo, like more item variation in the recruit and veteran packs, etc.

Career stats roll-up seems like a no brainer.

I really like the multiplayer and was surprised that it was as good as it was. Most fun i've had in a multiplayer game since COD4 (yes really). There are some issues but everyone seems to have covered them.

The only thing that annoys me is that out of my friends playing it, i still don't have any new race apart from human. Even after buying loads of veteran packs i don't have any new races whilst one of me mates has a drell and the other a krogan -_-. I really want a quarian! I've already picked a name! Mayass'Iz vas Tronomical !

i know the stuff doesn't roll over but i hope i have a better chance of getting one in the main game.

It plays wonderfully, but the random loot boxes have GOT to go.
Let us narrow it down a little, at least!
One for guns, equipment, battle usables, characters, weapon mods.

The random nature of it is obscenely frustrating.

A vital change needs to be made in the controls. Rolling should be a double button press like in the Batman Arkham games. This seams like it should've been obvious.

More thoughts after playing ME3 MP demo on xbox 360:

- There is a bug where sometimes you can turn & shoot but not move when you start a game. It happened to my friend once and me twice. Once I get knocked down and revived I can move again.

- Offer a per-instance reward for reviving your allies in addition to the 5 Revives bonus.
- I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I really like the booster pack system for unlocks. It's addictive. My only complaint is that I often get a "Character + XP" card for a class & race I already have & maxed out. I've gotten 7 gold cards in the past three days, and 3 of them have been for an Asari Adept. There are lots of other races I don't have--maybe priority could be given to filling out the roster before getting repeats?
- As of 2/23 I see a lot more players hot-dropping into matches, which is a Good Thing.

This is my feedback regarding the demo...

-Short Version-

Link below at end of "Krogan God Mode" that ruins game play experience.

Long version-

I prefer the occasional glitch to make the game experience fun (random motions of enemies, funny rag doll physics) but I prefer that this one would be taken out of the game. It is a glitch that my friends, and I found the other day that gives you a type of "god mode" glitch in multi-player. I like my games to be challenging and I don;y like glitches that make the time cheap.

You literally cannot die with this glitch active.

Link below to the video of our playtime. I have more if you need more footage.

Email me BioWare, and I can tell you exactly how we replicated it a couple of times over. I will not share details of the glitch with anyone else to keep the game fun.

BIGGEST ISSUE:
I can't play a 4-person game with a 2-person party. Please, for the love of god, make it simple and easy in order to join a four-person game with one or two friends! Nobody ever joins my custom created room and it's difficult to Quick Match and find an open slot that my buddy can join. Lack of easy party multiplayer on the Xbox is something that Battlefield has also done wrong, please don't be another EA game to screw this up.  I made an account here just to say the above.

But, while I'm here, I also want to say that I love the multiplayer, very fun on the Xbox 360.

A couple other flaws that probably need reiterating:

The cover system is clunky. I wind up in cover when I don't want to be -- for instance, when I'm trying to run past it or when I'm trying to revive my teammate. I also can't revive my teammate from cover. I don't wind up in cover when I want to be; sometimes I will wind up rolling away instead of getting into cover.

The revive system is clunky. It needs to be a separate button than the "do everything" button, because too often, I will wind up doing something other than reviving my teammate. Alternatively, make reviving it the absolute highest priority. That would be acceptable, but not good (because then I would not be able to enter cover instead of reviving my teammate).

I cannot reload while doing something else, like getting into cover. It's too easy to accidentally interrupt my own sniper rifle reload.

The mission types need briefings. The class types need descriptions. Remember, not everyone who is playing has played single player, or ever played Mass Effect.

This. Primarily the match-making system needs work. In this day and age it's inexcusable for two friends to be unable to join the same match in a co-op MP match. I don't have 3 other people who will play this on Xbox consistently, I have 2, and not at the same time. Please allow a "join as party" option. Revelations screwed this up as well, and it pretty much ruined MP beyond unlocking achievements for me. Let us play with 1-3 friends, not just 3 or pug only and hope someone drops.

Other than that, MP was a blast, super fun.

Join as party...  the lack of this feature means you'll only get one sale instead of two out of my household.  It's just good economics to let us join a quick match as a party.

(No, starting a match with each other and making it public doesn't work.)

Yes, thank you for posting this. I've been looking for someone to have the same problem as me. I'm a huge Bioware fan and love the Mass Effect series. The multiplayer is awesome but man it's so aggravating that I can't join a quick match with my brother. We'll spend ten minutes searching and as soon as I find two more people, he goes to join and by the time he's joined the hosting player left because they're trying to do the same thing we are. I will play multiplayer non-stop if I can easily play with a friend or two AND a random person.

@pamkhat - thanks for posting this and others' opinions on it. This needs to be fixed above all else. I also agree with the reviving issue.

By far the biggest issue. Not beeing able to play with 1-2 friend in 2012 is bad, really bad.

Bioware: I would like to make a sugestion reguarding the actual look of the multiplayer interface. Areas where you set up your character or pick matches ect look very rushed and seem to be lacking any real production. It's the small touches that matter. Perhaps the screen where you pick your match options or character could have Shepard looking out over the Earth from abord the Normandy instead of just floating blue hexagons. This is the big finish here, the epic finale. Make it FEEL epic! All of the Halo multiplayers employ this 'feel' and it adds a lot to the experience. Update the look in a update if you can!

Hi folks

I'm creating this thread to gather your feedback on the Mass Effect 3 Multiplay demo. What did you like? What did you not like? Please give us your feedback here and let us know what you thought about Multiplay in <ass Effect 3.

I'm creating a similar thread in the General Discussion forum to discuss the Single Player demo. Please use that one to contribute your feedback on the Single Player demo as well.

We want to hear form you. Thanks. :)

I have a question. Will our XP and weapons from the multiplayer demo roll over to the main game?

Found the game to be fun so far. A few issues like vanguards jumping outside of the map, and the annoyance of the character sometimes jumping into different cover rather than running away have been the only negative experiences

Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the Mass Effect 3 combat translated to multiplayer. I've played hours and hours of multiplayer alone and with friends. There are some things I think that need to be fixed for launch though.

List of things to add/fix:

Group game search option - If I'm playing with friends, quite often no one joins our public matches, and we have to use various tactics to fill our matches. The most common being, one person joins, and then gives the ok for the rest to join if the lobby has open slots still. This is a very unreliable way to find matches, and being able to join a group of some sort, and then search for a game together would be ideal.

Space bar - It does too many things. On one hand it's cool to have a button that can handle everything so I don't have to learn so many binds, but... Too often when I'm trying to do one thing, I do something else instead, and that gets me killed in some difficult situations.

Stasis - It's too powerful. The reason why it's too powerful, it effects shielded and barrier targets. To my knowledge, nothing else is so effective versus so many different enemy types.

First time playing after the server change and I like the changes made. Silver Wave 6 is no longer the wave of forced death, Engineers are a sane proportion of the enemies, and things seem a lot fairer.
