Awesome MP. Top marks pretty much all around, some bugs certainly need fixing. About the gameplay though:
- Bolt action sniper rifles seem WAY too punishing compared to the viper with their reload times. The extra damage just isn't worth the reload time. On gold the widow or mantis will more than likely not one-shot someone anyways and during the same time (more or less) I can fire three-four shots with the viper before i've finished putting the second round in my mantis. Either nerf the Viper or buff the others because I can see little to no reason to use the bolt action snipers over the viper.
- Shockwave is incredibly underwhelming and more often than not it doesn't have the reach to fulfill it's purpose. I think that it's base range should be increased by 5 meters while keeping the option to increase it's range by a further 5 meters.
- Incinerate seems very underwhelming damage-wise, at least compared to ME2. Atlas's armor bar barely moves when it's used. Enemies don't really seem to take all that much damage from it. Often not even Incinerate -> Overload -> Tech Burst isn't even enough to kill an assault trooper (Silver+) There isn't much reason to play a human engineer as a 'caster' because of how underwhelming incinerate is. Sure you have overload and drone as well, but overload is only useful for taking out shields and your drone has an extremely short cooldown. Incinerate is really the only thing a caster engineer would use. In my opinion it should be buffed, not massively or made overpowered but given a little bit of love.
- The matchmaking system really doesn't care how bad the hosts connection is really. More often than not i've got some serious lag when joining partys. It's not my internet connection, trust me on that one. If not the matchmaking system please give us a way to vote to change hosts mid-game.
- Random boxes that have everything you want in them are kind of lame when they are the ONLY way to unlock new characters, weapons or mods. I'm fine with the whole randomness aspect. But why just recruit and veteran? why not give us the option to open a weapons crate or a character crate instead (or as well as) so if I desperately want a new character and don't care much for new weapons I can spend (even more?) credits on a guarantee of getting a new character or extra apperance options with no chance for weapons or mods. I Would GLADLY play three times the amount of credits as the veteran pack just for a new character that I haven't unlocked yet.
- ALL of the sub-machine guns are just hopeless. I know even in the description of the Hornet it says that cerberus operatives are properly trained to handle the recoil you get from this gun but really, there is a lot of recoil and there is just plain ludicrous. Hornet can ONLY be used vs an atlas properly, and it's damage - even versus shields - is beaten by a phalanx, which also weighs FAR less (less than half the weight ?). The locust is the most viable but it's damage is just so low that it's not even close to being better to use than a pistol. The shuriken and tempest are just hopeless - No damage and spray everywhere. Buff all of the SMGs ! To use any SMG over a pistol just cripples yourself.
- Reduce the chance to get thermal clip packs from recruit/veteran boxes please. I have 117 Thermal Clip Packs, mostly because they are almost never used because you never need them since almost every gun has ammo upgrades and ammo stashes are littered everywhere. Give more medigel instead, actually need that stuff !
