So I go to gamestop where I have prepaid for my collectors edition 3 months ago to confirm that it will be there for me on the 3rd.  I figured since it is the weekend prior to release they can tell me. 

I had waited on picking up a different pre order only to be told that it was not in stock (3 days after release and I had prepaid) but due to a mix up my copy was not there anymore.  Luck was with me as another store did have a copy so I did get mine, but just kept nagging at me for this game.  I had prepaid for both at the same time. 

Yes I am in the system.  Yes there is a collectors edition paid for in my name according to the computer.

But . . . I was told  . . .

"Your collectors edition is not in stock."

What?

"We have copies of the game, but not your collectors edition."

But you will be getting in in before release right?

"Well maybe, you can check in tomorrow to see if it arrived."

*cries*

SO I called Gamestop and they told me the same thing, to check tomorrow and if it was not in stock then to contact them and they would see what they can do to help me.  HOWEVER, there are no more listings in thier system for Collectors editions.

So now i am on pins and needles hoping to actually get the collectors edition that I preordered and prepaid for.

I stopped purchasing games from EB/Gamestop years ago. There's simply tons of better options. They screwed me over one too many times on stuff like this.

Gamestop does this every time. I have no idea why people keep using them.

I have it pre-ordered at Gamestop but NOT pre-paid. I checked today and they said it should ship Monday and they'll get it in Tuesday. If they don't I will buy it somewhere else and get a refund on the pre-order.

they sold my -reserved- nwn 2 collectors edition (release day, mind you). And were afterwards, sold out completely.



Last time I bought anything at gamestop.

I didn't pre-order in time to reserve a CE. I will be the guy that tries to snatch one up at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday if the store has one they'll sell to me...

Wow.... this is why I'm leary of preordering stuff.... 8/10 I usually can just run into gamestop and pick up a copy off the shelves....

I've never had a problem with them, except they told me today that there would be no midnight release. Sad face.

The "dudes" at the store totally snag the copies, reserved or not, for themselves and friends. You know that's exactly what happens.

RazorrX, I know folks like to rag on them, but Best Buy should have some extra copies to sell. They usually overstock on PC games just in case. If you're looking for the 360 version, you're out of luck, but they should (I must stress, should) have some extra copies of the PC CE on hand. You'll just need to be sure to get there in a fairly timely manner, else the copies they have might vanish from the shelves as if they were never there to begin.

I'm in the same boat as Treylinn. I didn't consider how fast they'd run out at my local EB, and I guess putting the pre-order off until yesterday had a cost. Here's hoping they have some left; nice and early I shall be rocking up at their doors with Arcane Bolt as a backup.

I'm also worried. Sometimes they don't receive the game until the same day as the release date. Why the F don't they get it the day before so they can sell it as soon as they open. That's why they need to do midnight releases for ALL games.

Gamestop is not a quality store and doesn't care much about its customers (at least that is what has happened to me and my friends). I have pre-ordered and pre-paid for two collector's edition games there and then, surprise surprise, they sold them both... Better options out there and I wouldn't shop at Gamestop in general.

I am having similar issues, RazorrX. The past several days I have been on the phone with my local Gamestop, twice daily sometimes. This came about because they told me that they didn't have enough Collector's Editions in their order on Friday. They were short almost a dozen. And that I might not be getting mine. So they told me to call back tomorrow (Saturday) after they called around to see if they could get extras from their other local stores. Saturday rolls around... nope. Still an issue. I call around myself to the other Gamestop stores in my area -- nope, no extras and it ain't gonna happen. They told me today that 'we will have to wait and see if anyone cancels or does not pick up their order on the 3rd, then you can have theirs.'

How I was one of the 'lucky' chosen to not receive their preordered and prepaid CE, I do not know. Nor understand. But whatev. I'm pretty annoyed by all this.

I hope that Chris is watching this and sending this along to the EA sales staff. Stuff like this, if it happens consistently, is something that EA can bring up with vendors.

Been using EB/Gamestop for years and never had an issue. Think its just a matter of the store in question.

I agree with this. I've done pre-orders with many EB/GS many times and never had a problem. However, I do feel like there are many that have corupt employees resulting in us getting screwed.

Even if it means having to drive 50 miles to get it from Best Buy. I live in Podunk, USA... lol

A pre-order from a retail store. Heh, you best be on the ball... I used to walk into Best Buy and they had no problem selling me what was on the truck on release day 9am. I'm 99% convinced I was buying someone's preorder copy... If anything, its just another day or two before the huge slow shipment comes in... So when the customer calls they simply get the it will be in tommorow, if sold out... That's just the way it goes... Full cash in hand right face to face now now beats your $5 down payment. But I do appreciate when you do that, so my sympathies to you...

The Gamestop/EB Games I usually went to I never had a problem with until another store charged me the difference for a game I ordered two months prior to release.

I just order from Amazon now. They always give me a lower price if they can.
On the other hand, I have to wait forever for everything because I always go with free shipping.

Gosh, I must have the ONLY gamestop in the world where I can preorder a game with no probem at all...
