As it stands right now you could be playing the same class for two days and unlock nothing for said class.
The compromise is keep the random factor contained to the class your using. Meaning if I use a vanguard the unlocks will still be random but the only things I can unlock would be specific to that class.
Oh and I'm mainly talking about the armor and gender/species unlocks. I don't mind that the weapon and mods are random since all classes can use any weapon now.
Oh and if we've already unlocked a weapon then that weapon shouldn't come up again. It should be a new weapon every single time..... lol I can't tell you guys how many times I've unlocked the Mattock before I finally got something new.

Even better, but I don't know if they can change so much before the game comes out.Arppis wrote...
How about they create a shop and then give price tags for every item and players work towards them?

Got some pistol though but still. Playing with the pistol because the Avenger is terrible isn't my idea of fun. (I HATE full auto Assault Riffle in Mass Effect)

I agree that they should just put every item into a store so people can save up and buy what they want. I was pretty disappointed the first time I bought a veteran pack and it didn't give me anything I wanted.

So you can get multiple unlocks of unique items (like a new character)? That can't be good but does explain why I thought I had already unlocked the Mantis.

From what I've seen though you get upgrade Mantis version at least. Mantis I ---> Mantis II ---> (...)
But the system is BROKEN

Never played FIFA then?lurker541 wrote...
I like it. Something different than everyone else in the gaming world. Just my opinion.
FIFA has a hugely popular game mode called Ultimate Team which works essentially in the same way as this, you purchase packs and then get a random selection of items from said packs, with rarer items more likely to come up in more expensive packs.
It's really a very good system, something that they adapted to allow you to purchase packs with real money (sounds silly right?), people actually do that and you can even find squads being sold on eBay for up to a few hundred. Of course i'm not advocating they should ever go as far as that, because Ultimate Team is far, far bigger but the actual idea of random items themselves aren't a bad thing. If anything it encourages you to keep playing until you get what you want.
