This is getting old after unlocking sniper rifle upgrades(Mantsi IV and i don't use snipers) and smg magazine level V (don't use these either). Why couldn't they have made it a lesser pain by making it where you can buy specific things for your classes.

I love the random unlock system. Granted, I'm hoping for Human Male Vanguard and all I've gotten is Human Female Vanguard (who looks downright evil in the black and red color scheme I gave her) It's still addicting. Especially randomly getting a Phalanx in the starter pack and Mattock in the first beginner pack I bought.

I think packs are okay, generally. I am a bit fed up with not getting anything useful though. There should still be a way to get things you want, which could be according to your N7 rating or just for more expensive credit prices in comparison to the packs. Only getting stuff I don't like or use is rather annoying after a while though.

This new random thing has its ups and downs.
For one I love the excitement you get from getting something totaly awesome, and the other feeling when you get something you might never use.
It would be cool if you could choose a random set for ONE class with the 5k and 20k price tag,so you have a reassurance that you might get what you want. (or close to it)

I dislike it...

I'm going to play the Multiplayer to play as a Krogan, not MAYBE play as a Krogan.

I'm starting to think that the male vanguard is locked for the demo.

On one hand it's annoying. I played Infiltrator for hours and only got a sniper weapon mod near level 13.

On the other hand, thanks to random unlocks, my adept was level 7 before I even took him into battle.

This random stuff is pretty nice. I don't see what the problem is with some of you guys.
Every class can use every single weapon. "Oh, I have a high level sniper rifle and a bunch of upgrades for it yet I don't use it." Then why don't you use it? Stop sticking to this and that and try changing it up a bit. Do something different.
As for class unlocks, I can see how that would be annoying after you have unlocked it enough times to get the final appearance option unlocked, otherwise there's no sense in you complaining about that either.
Multiplayer is fun as hell as it is right now. Are you playing to get powerful unlockables or playing for fun? If the former, you're everything wrong with gamers nowadays.

Everybody vote nao!

There are those who care about choosing the way to play, and there are those who don't care about it. Scrapping the current system won't incite a negative reaction by the latter group!

The random weapon and upgrades is fine but its the fact that characters are tied to it . That is what many of us have a issue with . why can't I unlock the characters I want through leveling up like in gears 3 MP

I play for fun and the random character unlocks detracts from mine.

If they wont take out the possibility of getting the same item over and over at least let us trade our extras with other players. Ive gotten 3 scimitar shotguns 2 tempest SMG, and the assault rifle that you start the game with 2 more times in the 3 veteran and 5 recruit packages ive bought. Ive gotten some SMG upgrades and each time it just levels up the upgrade so im at level 3 extended clip for SMG so thats not to bad but im sick of getting the same things all i want is a better assault rifle, none of the stuff ive gotten i will ever use as a soldier, perhaps the shotgun but its unlikely.

I think they could have a dual system. Allow the player to buy precisely what they need, but at a premium credit price. Random packs are a lot cheaper, but of course, there's no guarantee you'll get what you want. Still, if you like trying out everything, the Random packs are the way to go because eventually you'll get whatever you need anyway.

In all honesty, I despise this random unlock system. Sure, it's different from CoD or BF3 in which you rank up to unlock new things, but at least that system is still better than buying a pack that MIGHT include what you want. It doesn't help that most of the unlocks from the packs are often duplicates of weapons that make absolutely no sense for a specific class like a M8 for an Infiltrator (just my opinion, by the way. I'm sure some people enjoy the rapid fire with invisibility.) or getting EXP/customization options for human variants of specific classes time and time again. Where's the fun in an unlock system where the main focus is the hope of getting what you want and feeling relieved when you finally do? Shouldn't a game want to avoid that?

Like it. Think it's good, should stay, don't need upgrades to get by anyway it's just all the more fun when you do get it. Big deal if you get you're rank 6 smg before you're sniper or whatever, it may encourage you to try something new or at least help you later. It works well, you'll eventually get what you want even if it's after you've got everything else, don't think the chance of new gear is that low.
155 is hardly alot of the community, and even of the people that have voted thats only 60%.

60% is however, what is known as a 'majority'. You know what isn't a majority? 17%. That's the percentage who like the current system as is. The United States Congress has a higher approval rating than this system for crying out loud.

Personally I was amused to begin with. Five hours of playing later and I'm starting to get annoyed by the number of SMG upgrades I'm getting. I don't like SMGs. No amount of upgrades to the SMGs will make me like them. I LIKE sniper rifles. I currently have two sniper rifle upgrades. Yay.

I'd love to see the 155 get a majority yes on how they think it should be implimented.
Besides the majority is really Abstain from voting.
I like AR's but had mostly shotgun, SR or SMG upgrades, only got rank II on the AR but I'm still gathering and powering up everything, in doing so I'm increasing the chance the next one will be for AR.
I'd probably be bored with it if I just went into a shop screen and purchased my AR right away. I like the surpise you get, even more so when it is something you want. Besides having only the Rank II of my AR is hardly effecting me negatively.

As much as I would prefer a "buy/work toward what you want" system, i'm resigned that the random unlocks will be likely here to stay. however I think there are some ways to make the current system better. for instance a sell back feature so people can recoup some of the cost for another pack. specific item oriented packs such as equipment pack, weapon packs or character packs where its much more likely to get those items. finally a "Gold pack" for a ton of credits which is guaranteed to get you something you have never gotten before.

ideally i'd agree with a number of others that a combination system would be the best. random is cheaper but random, if you really want that asari vanguard you gotta work for it.

I'm level 80.

I get 75+ kills a game.

I have only unlocked 1 extra character (Drell vangaurd...Which I feel is infinitely inferior to the standard human vangaurd) and I ALWAYS buy the "veteran pack" (which i am able to buy 3 every 4 games since I average 15,000 credits a match)

I want to say this system has driven me up a wall to the point if its THIS hard to unlock characters in the final game - I am going to cancel my preorder. This is silly.

After I max out my character let me at least get ONE other race for free in that slot.

I understand I am probably an exception... I have watched my friends get Krogans with their "starter" packs that you get for free and then asari on their very first pack after that.

But if you INSIST on keeping this system - at least put fail proofing for people who are infinitely unlucky such as myself. After x amount of packs - you are guaranteed a character you dont have.

I have maxed out characters FFS and I'm beyond upset with this game at this point. I feel like I'm grinding pointlessly. I'm not playing to have fun. I'm playing with the hope I can HAVE fun with different characters. I am not even looking for any SPECIFIC ones. I just want SOMETHING ELSE!

There's going to be a 'gold' pack in the form of a Spectre pack which is 50,000 credits.

@Trauma You are going to cancel your preorder over multiplayer when the game is focused on SP?

Ok..

And you should be playing Silver at least at your level, bronze at 15.5k isn't worth it.

Whenever I do silver - everyone but me is slaughtered.  I got sick of it after the first 8 games it happened.

EDIT: And Yeah - cancel the pre order and rent from someplace - beat the game.  After I beat single player on xbox I have no real reason to keep playing the game.

I have more "shepards"/ playthroughs on my PC version.  I planned on waiting till the PC version was dirt cheap (its inevitable.  All pc games become 10$ at some point - and well before console games do)

I have the exact same problem. I keep getting character packs I have already maxed and I am greatly annoyed.

It's to the point I'm POSITIVE that some accounts just arent' allowed to unlock characters.  There has to be a bug somewhere that doesn't let me get other characters (ignoring that drell... that was a fluke)

I haven't had a problem with it yet but then again its one of those things that after awhile the developers will make it even worse and/or it will get very tiresome...like with TF2 (which was both of those things.)
