If you are experimenting difficulty connecting to other players online and your Internet connection is behind a router using NAT (Network Address Translation), you may need to take one of the following steps to attempt fixing your issues:

Xbox 360:
  • Enable UPNP on your router.
Playstation 3:
  • Enable UPNP on your router.
  • Manually open UDP port 3659 and 6000  on your router to allow inbound and outbound traffic.
PC:
  • Make sure your personal firewall is configured to allow Mass Effect 3 (Demo or Full game) to communicate to the internet.
  • Enable UPNP on your router.
  • Manually open UDP port 3659 and 6000  on your router to allow inbound and outbound traffic.
Please consult your router or personal firewall documentation for information on how to allow game related traffic on these ports. If you are attempting to play on a corporate internet connection, contact your network administrator.

It is possible that the game is trying to connect to a game where the host is not viable (i.e. the host is behind a strict firewall). Your client might try to reconnect to that bad game couple of times. Please keep trying; the issue should fix itself when more games become available.

We are looking into it and would like to reduce the likelihood of this happening in the future.

Regards,
Nick

Yes, putting your console or pc in the DMZ is also an option.

On Xbox 360 if your NAT type is Open or Moderate you are good to go.

Colata: Open NAT is not necessary. Also you just need to forward the port 3659 and 6000 for incoming UDP traffic. If you forward the ports on your router manually, security concerns are pretty low, since only EA game should use those ports.

i need help for acces in the options of online or multiplayer online!! i receive a message error of "need conect whit internet".

i not understood the router conection, what is the mode for change the ports?

Please make sure you check your router documentation if you want to open the required ports.  Also for the connection to the internet problem, could it be your personal firewall that block the ME3 demo application?

is it possible to connect to multiplayer if i dont have a "Battlefield 3" passcode cuz my demo cant connect...?? and where am i suppose to enter it if i had...???

Connection to the server should still occurs even if you do not have battlefield, however if you do not have early access enabled, you won't be able to play multi-player until Friday Feb. 17.

You might want to check out this post regarding getting early access:

I have the same issue. It's on Xbox Live. My apartment complex has a very poorly set up network, resulting in a Moderate NAT, but I am able to play every other multiplayer game. ME3 is the first that I have not been able to play any on.
I get the "Your connection to the game has been lost" when quick matching rather than getting matched up, and I cannot add a friend in a private game because they cannot join. I can create a private game and play by myself, but where's the fun in that?
Hope someone figures this out!

That is quite strange, you should be able to invite friends directly to your game without problem, if you have the time, is it possible to retest this scenario? We would like more info on this to investigate further.

Thank you

on my PC I was able to play perfectly 4+ matches yesterday, now today I can barely stay on for 4 min before I lose the connection... its happened almost 10 times now and is getting pretty annoying, I just was able to complete a match, all 11 rounds, and then when I got to the lvl up screen I had no points to spend and then crashed when I came back in I was back down my 2 levels.

I have allowed ME3 and Origin through my firewall, restarted my computer and my router... there is no reason this should be happening on my end

Hi there,
Where you able to go back to the lobby after the match you survived all waves; also did you notice if your XP changed at all?

Thank you
Nick
