I played the multiplayer demo with my friends and it was fine, no problems whatsoever. My set up has not changed at all between switching from demo to the collector’s edition. I'm using Windows 7.

Origin and the game seem to communicate with my friends and EA servers just fine. I don't think it's a firewall or data port issue (because the demo worked). What should I do? I liked the multiplayer demo and would like to play it very much now when I have the full game.

Edit: Oh, and Ihave tried several times, during the past few days. So it is unlikely to be a temporary server issue.

I am having the exact same issues. I even had a chat with EA people but and i have tried doing what they asked me to do but nothing has worked so far. This Mass Effect 3 has been nothing but problems for me.
First , My Mass effect 3 was sent to me with corrupted data and i was not able to play the game on the launch date , even though i pre ordered it 1 months back.
Second , I could not import any of my mass effect 2 character into my ME3 .
Third , I am not able to play multiplayer.

This is sooo irritating :(

May I ask what EA asked you to do to solve the issue? In an odd chance that it'll help me or someone else. I've contacted them too asking an email response, but haven't received a reply yet. Lucky (so far) my troubles have not been as many as yours; this being the only major problem so far. Installing and activating codes was smooth sailing for me.

Well  they asked me to check my internet connect at first , and then they asked me to turn off my firewall settings. Which i did . After that they asked me to Manually open UDP port 3659 and 6000  on your router to allow inbound and outbound traffic. That was part was tricky , but i was able to find the setting from a tutorial i found on Google. I guess this link will help you with that.

I really hope that you get your problem solved. And if you do , do add me on Origin ? If my Multiplayer works i can maybe have a co-op match with you ?  I have no one in my friend list there >.<.

Join game... wave 1, connection to server lost.

reconnect... join game... wave 3, connection to server lost.

reconnect... joint game... wave 6, connection to server lost.

reconnect... host game... wave 8, connection to server lost.

reconnect... update my weapons on my new adept character, switch to my level 20 vangard... promote vangard to frontline (apparently it bolsters the galaxy at war rating... but actually i want to redistribute power points)... spend 60,000 credits on a spectre pack... connection to server lost. Game freezes mid buying spectre pack!

Restart ME3, Galaxy at war rating dropped from 100% to 99%??? not that I care but wtf!

Credits gone but no new items or characters!

and my internet connection has been fine throughout...!!?

Still disconnecting approx 20 minutes into every game, my internet connection has been stable and online for 9 days, UPNP is on, ports are open etc etc

Same as above. I never loose connection to psn. Only to ea games (me3, fifa12, bf3)

I will getting a new Disc from EA (I had data corruption problem in Disc 2). The EA distributes in India called me up today and told me that they are sending it to me and i might receive it tomorrow morning . At least one of my problem is solved.

Been getting a whole lot of random disconnects on the 4th wave. It'll just randomly pop up and tell me "You have lost your connection to the server" or some such before spitting me back out to the title where it tells me the connection has been lost to the ME3 servers. This has only happened the last 3 games, before that it was extremely stable (if laggy at times, but playing from Australia I kinda expect it.)

Sort the problem out with multiplayer already..... everytime i get a good team we get to extraction point just to get DCed its retarded, some time i feel like killing myself (ingame) just to get credits and my exp, its painful to never level not had an issue with gaming intill ME3.... Sort it out for the love of plasma guns

 Has anyone tried multiplayer over LAN on the PC?  If so, does this solve the connection issues, or do all machines on the LAN still need to connect back to the internet?

Since yesterday I have been getting the "Lost Connection to Servers" problem. The funny, and incredibly irritating thing is, this happens at the end of a round when I am waiting for extraction and have survived all rounds or have accumulated lots of medals and credits. All of that is lost. I have decided not to do anymore Multiplayer as it is just becoming an exercise in futility. This adds to another problem in that I am not going to start ME3 SP until I have my ME1 and 2 saves correct. So it's back to ME1 I guess...

I don't normally complain on forums - But the problems specific to Mass Effect 3's Multi Player are beyond a joke.
I've managed to only finish two games, today alone I had 3 failed connects, then when it did connect on wave 9 it dropped.
This afternoon again, a couple of failed attempts to simply join a lobby, then on wave 9 dropped out.

I've followed all the steps suggested and the internet connection I use is in great shape, the PS3 is connected to the router by network cable - Tools like speedtest.net and pingtest.net come back with fantastic results and my router reports no errors, and when the game is running it seems smooth and lag free (Except when it accesses the blu-ray, then it stutters a bit - But installing to disk is another issue!)

And of course as has been repeatedly said, it's worse that you make no progress at all on a failed connection and can't rejoin the game you lost connection too.

I'm just about ready to give up on this game, 9 days out of 10 the multiplayer is just not playable.

My connection is fine, ports are open, all that other crap that doesn't help, every other game I own works fine. Stop gimping your servers ea, this is a problem for every damn game you have a hand in and it's especially bad for this one.

Well i can't join or host games and my net conection is fine when I do get into a game i'm in god mode and can't die then again I can't kill things or pick up ammo so yeah this sucks.

It's not my net or machine its the game servers from what i can see please fix it, yesterday it was semi like this for about 20 mins today its not even letting me join a game without the above problems also every time i get to the evac stage i loose conection and get 0 creds about 4/5 times >.<

Almost the same. EA support can't provide a solution to fix it.
All ports are open (even firewall disabled), direct cable connection, no router or modem. Even unable to join friend. Can only host a game with myself.

UPDATE: It was Internet Connection Sharing, Seems like it has wrong settings.
EA Tunnel:192.168.137.192 UDP port 3659
UPDATE: Changed IP to the IP of my local machine and everything starts to work.

Got disconnected on Wave 11. Really hope they add an update so that you earn credits in the middle of missions.

Today I had the worst lag so far. The kind where shots,powers and hits only register half a second later. Like when you melee combo someone and your first hit only registers when you're at the Heavy Melee finisher. Which might be due to the Server Maintenance announced for today, but still, I though I would mention it.

Also, for the OP, don't you think it would help if you could list the Ports people WITHOUT UPnP (like me) would have to open? I'm pretty much self-taught by now, but I remember how terrible it was when I first tried to get my NAT from "Moderate" to "Open".

Well, for all that want to know, here are the ports for the Xbox 360:

These are the ports EA once told me need to be open (this was for the BF3 Beta) ... If you know how to port forward here you go...

TCP: 53, 80, 88, 443, 3074, 13505, 31400-31499
UDP: 53, 80, 88, 3074, 3658, 6000, 9555

Regular Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open (from xbox.com):

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)

Note If you cannot chat with someone using Video Kinect, you might need to open port 1863 (UDP and TCP).

Maybe this will help someone.

I've been getting disconnected from the EA servers during and after games at random the last 24 hours. This has not been an issue until now. My router has the ports open and my firewall is down. Better yet, I've actually completed rounds only to get disconnected when I'm back in the lobby - as in, AFTER I'd seen all the credits and the levels I'd earned - only to get disconnected. And when I come back, I am back at the credit and level count I was at BEFORE the round I'd literally just completed.

This is simply out of hand now. I've already lost all the stuff I'd earned before, but now I can't even complete rounds without a) being disconnected from the EA servers, or winning the round and disconnecting when I am on the lobby which results in all the stuff I just earned getting wiped anyway.

Talked to EA support the other day about the same problems you're having now. They told me to turn off upnp on the router, allow access to ME3 on your windows firewall (I turned mine off). And do this:

1. open a CMD prompt AS ADMINISTRATOR
2. type "netsh"
3. type "int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled"


This worked for me, hopefully it works for you. Invite friends to game is bugged for me though. Can't create or join others games.

Except I don't care about playing with randoms, I want to play with friends.. So it doesn't make a difference, it might as well not work at all.
