Things seem to go smoother when I am the leader. No, not for my mad skills, but it seems leaders are the most endangered species in ME3MP and drop like flies, which makes your connection, not only dependent on the foibles of the ME3MP server, and your own ISP, but theirs as well.
I don't think I've played more than two matches in a row with the same leader otherwise. They get booted in the middle of missions sometimes.

Which is sad, because when you can play this game without is disconnecting it's fun as hell. But the risk of wasting 20 minutes of my time for absolutely nothing because it disconnected on wave 10 isn't fun.

One thing that must be noted is you cannot have UPnP enable AND do port forwarding at the same time. If you were forwarding the ports while UPnP was enabled, then your router can get confused.Reawyn wrote...
Hello everyone , not one for posting on forums but seeing as people are having so much trouble I felt I should speak out , first off I have been having connection issues like everyone else here ,HOWEVER upon following the advice of a few here , I disabled my Universal Plug and Play on my router and started joining games , I went past the 20 minute dropper mark and everything checked out, I can only guess that Ea's servers and the UNiversal Plug and Play aren't talking to each other. what ever the case , this worked for me and havn't had any more problems aside from the occasional bad host. I live in New Zeland and anyone who knows anythign about ISPs and internet rates will know we have crappy net connections, speed etc compared to everyone else. SO if I can get my game working hopefully others can too. its not ideal but so far its a work around that seems to be holding.
I would stress however that if your NOTconfident poking around your router its better to wait for a fix.

I seem to have fixed my connection problems on Xbox. I changed the DNS server in Settings->System->Network to Google's Public DNS. I'll know more in the coming days whether or not this is a real solution, but for the time being it's working great. The IP addresses are "8.8.8.8" for primary and "8.8.4.4" for alternate. Note also that I restarted my router and did a connection test to verify my NAT was still open.
Here is the link with information regarding Google DNS:

Every other game I play is fine but the disconnects on every EA game is unbearable. It's on their end, not ours.

Exactly the same thing that happens with me!!! Get to wave 10 and then disconnect, loose so much and I wanna rage!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually bought BW points to buy gear and then this stuff happens.
BW please speak to your publishing partner EA and get them fix their servers, also Origin is a broken product please release ME3 on steam and allow people to switch installation to steam.
I still can't install FTA dlc as the download is interupted and then have to start over!
I have wasted about R369 ZAR ($48 US) towards bandwith to try and download From the ashes!!!!

After reading Reawyn's post i disabled Universal Plug and Play in my Router and it seems that really did fix the issue for me.
When it was still enabled i got disconnected almost every game in one of the final 2 or 3 waves. I could finish maybe 1 out of 10 games i joined.
Ever since i disabled UPnP i played like 15 games and didn't disconnect in ANY of them.
So i would also encourage people with the same problem to try and disable UPnP.
Also, thanks a ton Reawyn for providing that tip. It's the total opposite on what Bioware suggests, so i doubt i'd have ever tried it without your posting.

@Kolreth1 old fix that works. but if you disable UPNP, that causes other problems. Still better than not being able to finish a single game though. Still waiting for a ACTUAL fix for ME3 MP !! *Cough EA/Bioware *Cough*

All that to no avail.
Funny thing is that it also affects my single player - as long as I'm connected the game keeps periodically freezing.

I cannot join friends, and they cannot join me. I have enabled the UPNP, opened the ports and my firewall is letting ME3 through. I'm really getting fed up with this, and I'm really dissapointed. When I join, my screen just says 'Joining game', and after a while, 'communicating' in the upper left corner dissapears. After that, the game just freezes, and I have to use alt+F4 to get out. Does anyone have a fix for this?
I have the exact same issue but for PS3. My friend and I can't join each other's private games. I've done everything Bioware has suggested on my router and I have NAT2 on my PS3. Every
time he invites me, it says "communicating" and "joining game" and then
hangs. Communicating goes away and I have to restart the game because
there's no button I can press. It's just stuck. We both have the same
issues. When I invite him to a private game, his game hangs at 'joining
game' and when he invites me, my game hangs. We have no issues joining
public games and I've never disconnected from one. Literally every time
we try and get into one another's private game it hangs and we have to
restart our ME3.
I've never had any issues like this playing
other online games. It really sucks because while I got this game
because I loved ME2, the lasting appeal was to have a good multiplayer
game I can bomb out with 3 other friends coop. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
Also, a weird thing happens when I start ME3. It
logs me out of PSN and gives me a "ethernet cable is not attached"
message before logging me back in. This is perhaps unrelated but still
weird, as it happens even when I turned off the autoconnect to Origin
option.

any one got any solutions to being disconnected every 20- 30 minutes?
If you're talking about PC then disable UPnP. That will cripple your ability to invite friends and you might have problems finding lobbies (takes quite some time), but you won't be DCed every match.
Oh, and EA doesn't have the solution. I've spend about 8 hours total, speaking to their tech support and they've given all the useless advice they could think of to get rid of me. Maybe, short of advising me to denounce my citizenship, defrost my refrigerator, cancel garbage collecting service, and yank out my telephone cable.

I was hopeing that I had missed somthing ovious that hadn't been put up on the forum. This is what happens when you deal with tech support from India, seriously both people I worked with were from India based on their names. I know the problem has to be on their side now, the fact that their "fix" broke my online pass tells me that somthing is very wacky over there. I think I might try to unregister my game and reregister it in the hope that might fix it.

( i think) and have never disconnected, usually when i'm leader no prob, but when someone else is a leader they disconnect on second mach. When i play i usually stop all torrent software and i had no issues except if i forgot to turn uttorrent of...
I think game overheats internet connection with packets cause when i play not as leader in the moment before leader disconnect there is lot of lag and mobs and players move in a weird way...
I use custom configured sisco w-fi router which works as w-lan access point whidout routing and i have no issues ...
Weird

I have the same issue, but not with all friends. Maybe around half or just under half. What's funny is 2 o them are husband and wife, using the same router, one I have the problem with, the other I do not.
Also, I can be in a game WITH them, but not hosted by them. Same goes for them They can play with me, just can't join a game I host. ALSO while in game we cannot hear each other's chat.
This is on the PC by the way, with the instructions in the port settings post folowed.

- DISABLE UPNP, extended security.
- Forward all the ports i mentioned in the previous post and the ones OP wrote down in the first post in the router page. I chose ANY port as a trigger for all of them, not UDP/TCP specifically..
TCP ports:
- 80
- 443
- 9960-9969
- 1024-1124
- 18000
- 18120
- 18060
- 27900
- 28910
- 29900
[*]3659 and 6000
- Then do the same for inbound rules under window firewall. (CPANEL - system and security- firewall- advanced settings - inbound rules - add new rule.) I did UDP and TCP in a seperate rule. Not sure if you need to specify origin as the target program or if you can chose ALL. Try it and see which works).
- THEN disable the firewall COMPLETELY.
- Also use http://portforward.c...p/portcheck.htm to test al lthe ports and see, if they are actually forwarded.
- And obviously disable or uninstall all other firewalls
[*]Tried 2 private games without UPNP so far and seemed to work, people could join my invites, no one got disconnected as they would with UPNP enabled. Will report back in a day or 2 to see if its really working.
