OK, I will tell you, deleting the HOSTS file will NOT solve the problem unless you've been doing some very strange stuff to your computer. I'd say the problem is that they must have implemented the whole thing without any dedicated servers. They randomly choose a player to be the host without properly checking to make sure that player actually has their firewall configured to be able to accept incoming connections. Then they make all the other players try to connect, and have a ridiculously long timeout and no cancel button, so I sit there forever waiting for it to give up.

Things they could have done to fix it:
1. Dedicated servers!!!
2. When assigning a player to be host, try firing a few packets at that player to make sure they don't get eaten up by a firewall before sending other players to try to connect.
3. Put a cancel button on the connecting page so that if I do get stuck with an unreachable host, I don't have to wait 5 minutes.

If this is the case, then doing things like turning on UPNP or setting up port forwarding would fix it so that YOU can host a game, but still won't allow you to get to games being hosted by an unreachable host.  Basically, they need to have ALL the players either set up UPNP or configure port forwarding.

Well, figured out what was going on for me. I had "Internet Connection Sharing" turned on for the aircard. Doesn't usually conflict with other games, but in this case as soon as I turned it off, was able to connect to online games :)

I was able to get through an entire match earlier today with no problems, and I had a blast. But when I tried again an hour ago I kept having the issue with having my connection cut every five to ten minutes. My connection to Steam, XFire, and Pandora Radio is unaffected, so I do not think my internet is at fault.

I will add my support for the "Give XP and Monies if disconnected" thing. Seriously, one of the main reasons I'm not still trying. It's just too disheartening to watch all my pretty XP vanish the instant EA decides it doesn't like me.

Each time I do quick match on PC, there's roughly 70% chance that I will be stuck on the connecting or loading screen and dc. On Xbox, it's a bit better but not by much.

I can't connect to games of half the people on my friends list. I have UPnP enabled so I'm not sure what else I can do.

I too am experiencing random sudden dissconnects, (just had one 10 seconds from extraction which has made me toss in the towel for the night). This has happened on 3 separate internet connections now. Being that this is a demo Im sure there will be assorted fixes to deal with this stuff. But i feel i need to point out two major oversights regarding how waves are handled.

EXP and credit gains should be saved in between waves. This will drasticly reduce your dissconnect complaints.

When its the host dissconects mid game, the wave resets for host migration. this is infuriating, especially after hunting down those high value targets.

I dont know whether its a limitation with UDK or not, but i know multiple games do this so there has to be a workaround.

Bioware you made a great series, and you even went further with the addition of a really fun multiplay experience, just go a little further and you can be attracting many new players just from MP alone.

I was able to play my first MP game the other day without having to change any of my router settings. It was enjoyable, but the lack of an ability to chat during the game made things a bit tougher than what they needed to be. I understand that the game does offer such a capability, but it would have nice if it were able to be used.

Whenn I start MP, the first time, I have to wait about 2 minutes (no cancel awailable), thenn I get the message that I was disconnected, after that I have "cancel waiting" awailable...

When you get disconnected, all progress is lost... Can you give us reconnect option?

Does this temp fix work for mid game disconnections? Me and my brother are playing on the same connection without lag, except that every time we get to wave 10 or 11 he gets dropped and I stay on. Really annoying because you don't get any credits or experience if you are the one that has been dropped.

I feared this would happen - EA rarely ever get solid servers running for great games, and this is no exception. I've had a ton of connection issues during gameplay (nothing to do with my connection, as I can play all my other games online fine), and the cheapest thing is that when you lose your connection, you lose all the EXP and Credits you've picked up.

I hope things are better for the full ME 3 game, otherwise, I may be returning my copy a lot sooner than I'd like to :(

Multiplayer is fun but this disconnects are so infuriating. After thursday I was only able to stay connected in one game long enough to get past the 10th wave then 1min left to evacute d/c. A couple of hour played but no credits/xp to show for it.

I'm having weird connection issues ...

- I have no problem connecting to EA server
- I can occasionaly connect to random people using Quick Match (sometimes I connect, sometimes I got "You have been disconnected from game")
- If I start public game, random people can join me, BUT not my friends (neither one of them)
- My friends can easily connect to each other
- I can't join any game from either of my friends

I have allowed full access for MassEffect3Demo.exe
I have forwarded ports 3659, 6000, 56536
I have enabled full UPnP
I'm using ADSL, my PC is directly plugged to router using ethernet cable

Any idea? Solution?

I keep getting disconnected when I win missions, just as the extraction happens. When the missions fail,I have no disconnections.

I don't get it, it's kinda of annoying. I haven't gone past lvl 17 in two days because of it. PC user, made all the changes suggested by Chris. Still only disconnecting on mission success.

Ideas?

Also, on a side note, I have to disable Origins in game or the demo crashes, ALL THE TIME. I'm still connected to Origins, but just can't access the feature inside the game.

Might be related?

This sounds like the same problem I'm having. All mentioned ports have been forwarded. UPnP enabled. No software firewall running.

--Start the demo.
--Connecting to Origin (EA) briefly appears and then I'm on the main "Press Any Key" title screen. I pres the any key.
--I get to the next screen which briefly says "connecting" in the top right, then the main menu loads and the EA Laptop info thing opens stating "Connected to EA Servers".
--I select Multiplayer.Multiplater character select screen loads.
--I press Shift&F1 for bring up friends list right click friend and hit join game.
--"You must be connected to the internet to access this feature. Please check your network connection and try again"
--Nine times out of ten I will be dropped back to the multiplayer character select screen. More annoyingly occasionally it will load me in to the game but the above message is still displayed. I can friends and enemies running about and hear the action, but can't move my character due to the above mentioned error dialogue box. I click ok on the error message and bang dumped back to the multiplater character select screen.

Random games work, but for some reason, I'm not allowed to play with my friends.

Edit - This is on PC, Windows 7 64bit, if it helps any.

Yesterday I have virtually no problems connecting to games, but today I'm getting into about a 1/5 (and that's being generous) of the games I try. But once I'm in, it's fine.

In addition to udp port 3659 and 6000 I needed to forward port 7673 (udp) to solve my connection issues!

yep absolutely right! ports 3659 and 6000 didn't help at all

forwarding port 7673 udp was like magic. from one second to another i could connect and host games with NO PROBLEMS.

Cris please add this in ur first post for everyone to see.

Ok for one I really shouldn't have to configure my router to play a 360 game on live, secondly this disconnect issue is really getting on my nerves. Which really sucks because this is the most fun multiplayer I've played in a long time but for the life of me I can't get a stable connection anymore.

Hell, I can't even connect to the multiplayer server at the moment.

God damn BioWare you make me fall in love with a multiplayer I was completely against and then run it with the ****tiest netcode I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing.

Edit: Alright I'm done with the demo for now. I'll keep tabs on it but I'm done wasting time playing only to disconnect before the end of every game.

It's now working abit better for me (getting into about 70% of games) but it's so random. Please Bioware fix these connection issues for the full game.

Edit: 360 version
