All I can say is that EA needs to get cracking on strengthening their networks. I got screwed out of at least a dozen kills towards the end of a match (and a possible level up) all because I couldn't do anything due to lag. You'd figure they have enough money to buy another million servers or invest in better types of connections.

first extrange bug I've seen related to connection Issues..
we got out of sync suddenly.. all my powers and theirs could move freely and hit invisible enemies(example, engineer's combat droid does move).. but I could not see them (all enemies and allies were frozen.. noone moving)
yet they still could hit me on time correctly.. and using powers awarded me of kills points.

until I died, the thing synced correctly.

okay, just had another delightful convo with EA's customer support... not. I'm going to copy and paste a small part of it, to give you guys some idea of what their like about this isues that everyone on every platform seems to be having:

King_0_Hell - I know it's not an issue with my net, I sat through your help and support yesterday, and then was told "it's a problem with my internet connection, just deal with it". Hardly good customer service from EA.

EA Customer Support - Well, it likey is an issue with your net connection

King_0_Hell - I know for a fact it's not my net connection, I can play any other online game just fine, it's just the demo's multiplayer that's giving me, and many others on every platform, issues. Seems to me it's an issue with your servers.

EA Customer Support - It's got nothing to do with our servers, there all working fine, maybe you should invest in getting a better connection or just not bother playing the online part in either the demo or the full game.

-----

Ending that there as needless to say, i got mega p***ed off. To be told I should just not bother playing the online part - which is the bit I'm really looking forward to in the full version, and have (when i can play) been enjoying in the demo - is just madness.

Bioware, if you see this, knock some sense into EA and get them to either look at their servers and improve them, or invest in better ones

How can be our connection, if we cann play every other MultiPlayer game just fine?? (no problems with SC2, LoL, HoN, games on Steam... -just a small example)

We don't have connection issues because we can connect to Origin and play Mass effect 3 Multiplayer, so setting up firewall and opening ports is not the issue here!

If a game has MultiPlayer, thenn it should work to, we pay for the whole game, not just SinglePlayer.

Or at least give a Roconnect option (not as good as fixing Origin, but better than loosing all the XP and earned Money)! Or maybe we can get a Steam version??

(sorry for bead English)

Hey Gnarlesee , you wouldn't mind listing what ports you have open would you? As in what ones might need to be added to OP.
thanks.

Well i dont think i need to post them, because it still does not work. So either they give us wrong ports or it is their fault some other way.

I just PFP checker to check if my ports listen correctly and they do, and firewall have been made exceptions to.
I dont know how to do at this point.

I can host any game besides this one.

Wow, when I worked there, none of the guys would have gotten away with treating a customer like that.  Even if their statements were true about the state of your hardware.

I've been playing the 360 version for days and had little to no problems. I think I was disconnected twice. It was all perfectly smooth with no glitches though, apart from endlessly falling through the floor twice and then having a team mate do the same thing costing myself and the other player in the group a full games exp and money because they would not disconnect >_<

I also downloaded the PS3 version tonight and have played it for a few hours. It was nowhere near as smooth as the 360 version. I had enemies and squad mates jumping all over the place and became disconnected 4 times. Very annoying. I suppose it could just be the crappy PSN though, it really does suck compared to live in my experience.

Okay, so I've been playing on both the PS3 and the Xbox and this is what I've noticed regarding the issues. First the Xbox is a lot smoother, even when there are connection issues you don't notice any problems except for disconnects, and those generally only happen while searching for a match. Only once has it dropped mid-match for me on the Xbox. On the other hand the PS3 is plagued with glitches from connection problems, lagging enemies/teammates, missing powers, the inability to move, being alone in the match even though I know I have teammates, those are all some of the issues I've personally seen. Not to mention that the PS3 drops the connection whenever it chooses, before, during, or in the case of just a moment ago for me after the match had finished but before returning to the lobby screen.

As for actually connecting, the Xbox didn't have any trouble, it loads the game up no problem the only problems I've seen are the occasional connection drops while searching for groups. The PS3 took a lot of work though, I had to place it in the DMZ, turn off the Wireless to my TV that it was connected to, and turn off the media streaming option on the PS3 before it was playable, and even then I still have quite a few issues. Also yes I attempted the port forwarding options listed here, they didn't help, hence the DMZ.

I'm not sure how two systems running off the same network in very similar setups could have so vastly different an experience.

Is the planned maintenance going to fix anything about this? Or is it just regular... maintenance or whatever needs to be done on servers?

It is safe to say that the ports are in no way responsible for this mess. And they know it. Mabe a few % have port issues too, but that hasnt anything to do with the problems many are facing now.

They have to get this straight until launch.

So stop messing with UPNP and your ports, it wont do you any good (unless you also have problems with other games).

Port forwarding is not required unless you want to host games. Most of MP issues are caused by bugs , poor quality EA servers and flawed P2P system. Unreal Engine has support for dedicated server so I really have no idea why they have used P2P instead...

I hope this maintenance fixes these issues, because sadly i love the multiplayer reminds me of Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 which i played the hell out of. If not it better be fixed in the actual release..

Well I really hope the server issues are fixed by the time this game comes out.  Right now the game is kind of broken.  I keep getting disconnected forfiting any money and experience I would have earned and any consumables I had activated.  Plus theres credits just getting lost in the ether during a failed pack purchase

I just got screwed out of my best game yet when Xbox Live randomly disconnected. Now I can't even host a game FOR MYSELF. Argh this is infuriating. :\\

edit:

Scumbag ME3; Portforwarding on 3659, still uses UPNP. Still noone joins. It doesn't use UPNP on any other port here.

Though forwarding the steam ports seem to work.

So, the maintenance happened but the same connection error continues. I honestly can only hope you guys aren't going to say the problem is "in our end" when the actual game comes out...

Well we can only hope this is a demo specific issue, if this happens at official launch EA support gonna get it.

This is so frustrating. Why can some host, when i cant.
I can host any other game, so why not this.

I read that someone has the same problem as me , i can connect to the EA Servers just fine and my buddy too, but we cannot join each others games the challenge/map/Team doesnt matter, i can connect to my other friends on origin just fine s its not my connection, is the forwarding of the both ports on the frontpage (UDP 3659 and 6000) a must have or is this in case i have connection issues??

About a half an hour ago the sound was gone throughout the last 2 or 3 waves. But the "Success" screen had some sound again afterwards. Also had some minor lags during the game.

(On PC, Europe!)

As an update, I was playing on the PS3 for a few hours this morning after maintenance with only a couple connection drops while searching for a group. No lag or glitches at all in game. They might have resolved some of the issues or I was just really lucky. :)

I had the same problem, forward the steam client ports.
UDP on 3478; 4379-4380; 27000-27030; TCP on 27014-27050.

Works for me now. My brother went lucky and had the IP where these ports were forwarded too. That is how we noticed.
