ME3 PC textures still look awful

I was a bit of a xbox graphics basher this morning but i'm actually very satisfied with the PC graphics. Shepard's clothes/armour in the PC version are actually detailed as opposed to the blurred mess on the consoles. Thought the game controlled ok as well, or at least as well as any other tps ive played on the pc.

EDIT: thought the default key-bindings were awful though...

Agreed, while high resolution textures are certainly nice they are in no way required for a great gaming experience.

Not even a little.

Being able to run at full 1080p and use a control scheme that allows me pinpoint control is enough by far to justify the price of my PC.

That part at the beginning where Anderson asks if you remember how to shoot was so IRL in the 360 demo. On the PC, by the time he asked, I'd headshot every Husk I could see.

Anyone who thinks the graphics aren't great should go play the 360 demo a half dozen times like I did. It's like coming into a warm house out of the freezing cold.

I really can't understand this comment. I am on xbox, M3 looks great.

Fortunately, I will never know how sad it is, to be a console gamer. :P

I do want to respond to you. I thought it looked pretty great on the 360 too. And your gaming platform cost you twenty-something percent of what mine did. So we're both doing pretty well.

I've been a PC gamer for 20 years. My current PC cost me $1300. I have a 360 and a PS3. I played the demo 5 or 6 times on the 360.

This game looks FINE on the PC. I understand that some people's expectations are that every game should look like a PC exclusive with high-res textures, but that's never going to happen.

It looks sharp, it plays smooth. And both the controls and the graphics are much nicer over on the PC. But nothing I say will convince the kind of people who are obsessed with texture quality, so what can you do? Enjoy the game.

Risen 2 isn´t a PC exclusive and it´ll look better on PC than consoles. There´s a gap batween systems, it´s up to the company whether they develop their games using each system full capabilities or they keep it down to the lower one (X-BOX AFAIK). And I´d believe Bioware would have more resources than PB, so they just chose not to. Not that surprising considering ME2 didn´t even have menu keyboard shortcuts.

It's a fair point, but I have never played a game that didn't look better on my PC then on my consoles. While you are right that the gap is up to the publisher, even just the higher resolution makes a difference for me.

I didn't really notice or care, it runs butter smooth and hopefully thats for most players.

Concentrate on optimization IMHO, not high res textures that could lead to issues

Not sure what your low-res screenshot is going to prove.

Demo = low textures , makes sense to me.The only low-res textures I noticed were uniform/c.mech/turret textures(probably more).But again it's a demo.

I like it when elitists get owned by Bioware.

That's another fun point. There is a ton of stuff missing from this demo, why not textures.

The really vexing part is that they purposely chose to do this. Artists don't work with super low rez textures. they start with high quality assets and then optimize for the platforms.

TINY, Eastern European developers with 1/100th the budget and man power of Bioware cna handle higher resolution textures for their PC version of games.. yet Bioware can't manage it?

The real reason is that they don't want the difference between the paltforms to be so obviously out of step. If reviewers start saying that the PC vesion looks 10 times better thanks to improved lighting and high resolution textures + 60 FPS + AA + AF + vsync, console gamers will get all upset.

Look at what happened with Battlefield 3. People complained that they should get larger maps, 64 players and better graphics too, like Dice could somehow make that possible on aging 6 year old hardware.

But in the end I don't think it would negatively impact sales. Console people will still buy the game on console 'cause that's all they know, and PC people will still buy it on PC, in fact more people are likely to buy it on PC as we tend to appreciate developers who care about us.

At least mouse double clicking and mouse wheel scrolling works this time.......so far on the few screens i expected them to work on.

Would like a HD texture pack though.

That screenshot isn't that high quality to begin with, so I can't tell if the details you're complaining about are from that or if they're actually in the game. And does the demo give you access to graphics options?

Agree completely. Awful texture quality. I hope something will be done about that at the release. I felt the taste of bile on y mouth at that filthy pixelated "Normandy" texture on the Alliances' prized warbird. Seriously, Bio?

Disgusting pig-like pug-like low-brow low-poly badstuffs. Can't play these frightfully low-blow alias-sympathizer electronic games without sighing heavily.

Protip: Don't play BioWare games for their graphics engines. Alternatively, learn to stop worrying and love the storyline.

Indeed, though that could be said for video games in general.

They are terrible; is anyone else getting horrible performance, even with relatively good hardware?

Yeah, the Normandy looked a bit off with the low texture.

Oh wow, if that's what they'll look like in the final game then that's atrocious. Their uniforms are far too blurry...

And to people saying "it's the demo" how are you so? Surely Origin has no demo size limit and, therefore, they could use better textures? Would increasing the quality of some textures like these two (arguably the most important ones in the entire game) really make the size 100's of MB bigger?

This is what happens when people get spoiled with technology.

I'll take this over the graphics of a decade ago.

If my Radeon hd 6450 can run it smooth as butter, so can yours(unless its very ancient hardware you got)

Huh? I'm sure anyone would. But we're not a decade in the past are we? We're in 2012 and these textures look like a step backwards.

I'll clear this up right now before some **** says something else.
I took 2 identical PC monitors and put them next to eachother (had them anyway, go eyefinity!)
Then I downloaded the demo on PC and 360, started them at the same time and started looking for differences.

For as far as I could tell both versions look EXACTLY the same.
The 360 seems a bit darker but everything else was just identical.
