I've played the demo on the 360 and just downloaded it played it on the PC and I think it looks pretty good even better then ME2. I have Nvidia 9600GT that I bought almost 4 years ago so trust me I was worried how the game would look and play.

If a 9600GT runs it smooth, why the hell doesn't the 5770? I know it's a mid range card, but seriously.

My video card has 2.2GB for ram which is well over the 256mb minimum and 512mb recommended not sure if that maybe it or what.

Can't be that, the textures are miserable. If it was Crysis or something, I would understand... but I run Crysis/Crysis 2/Witcher 2 at 45-60 FPS, mostly at 60.

Hell, even Skyrim with nearly every texture replaced by 2K and 4k versions I get 45+ FPS.

It's like a meta-game, trying to get your game to run well in the first place. Double the fun!

I'm a card carrying PC elitist, and I would like high res textures that make my machine work a bit harder, but I won't go around complaining that the consoles are holding me back.

Other Bioware games have gotten texture packs, I'm sure this one will as well, even if it has to be fan made.

I will subscribe to this theory. With the kind of money we put into our systems, it would be nice for a game to take full advantage of our hardware. But it really has no impact on my enjoyment of the game itself. It is a secondary concern.

That's pretty much where I stand, even if I can't have uber textures, I still have my preferrred controls, faster load times, and modification-possible experience.

Hence why I don't understand all the mouth breathing, frothy rage over a lack of texture packs.

No clue what it might be then thats causing the problems.

I don't understand why Bioware can't simply create the textures at a higher resolution in the first place, and then resize them for the consoles; we all know Bioware knows how to do this but for whatever reason they always decide to start out drawing the textures at low resolutions instead, which utterly baffles my mind and makes no sense whatsoever.

The textures on the console will look the same regardless if you draw them out at a higher resolution then resize, or draw them out on a small resolution in the first place.

.....actually, its possible that textures could look better on consoles if they were made high resolution first since reducing the size of an image typically makes it look better since it's harder to see the mistakes that artist(s) made on the texture.

And everything I"m saying is really not difficult to do; it's the same advice that even amateur graphic designers follow. Sheesh.

Hope Jean Luc doesn't have to come to the rescue again, because TexMod is not a great solution for replacing textures.

The super low res textures are fixed after re-installing the demo, not sure what the issue was. They look fine now, thanks for the help.

And holy crap, does this play better on the PC. So much easier to control your squad, move around the battlefield, etc. Could not manage to defeat the Atlas on insanity when I was playing the 360 demo. Beat it on the first try over on the PC.

No, I'm pretty sure they draw them at high rez first, then downsize them. I just think they ignore the fact that the PC version can handle more and don't replace them, which is a massive mistake.

IF that's true, then I don't understand why they can' t just release the high resolution textures on the internet; It takes no effort to do so in like 5 minutes. Heck even if they're too lazy to release them in a patch they could at the very least release them as JPEGs and let the modders themselves take care of it, lol.

Nice, I can't wait to get home and try it.  Played the Xbox demo, but I'm looking forward to tighter controls and better performance.

The textures are actually worse than ME2 in some areas and I just played me2 right before the demo so I'm not just bashing here.

I'm a PC elitist.
I love my PC and will always chose PC before consoles.
I love modding and just adore everything about the PC.
Overclocking, Upgrading, Messing about with settings, More Overclocking etc etc.

Now here's what blows my mind.
PC Elitists (in the eyes of console gamers) are ppl who refuse to touch anything console related.
Look here: http://sadpanda.us/i...808-ZFEZ726.jpg
Now remember that I'm a PC elitist...

Any of you console humping d-bags got a box looking like this?
Just because some people love PCs doesn't mean we hate consoles nor do we get angry when you hopelessly try to ****** us off with your snappy remarks on how we waste our money...

That's not realy an excuse since Arkham Asylum and Mirror's Edge also run on UE3 but they at least have fairly high resolution textures.

I'm pretty sure texture resolution is not a problem with UE3 or practically any modern game engine these days (even the Source Engine and Halo 1 engine could support high resolution textures, so really the type of engine is not a valid reason for low res textures).

I still enjoyed ME1 and 2 but the reason I'm upset with the textures is not because I'm a "PC Elitist", but because it is literally, really, NOT THAT HARD to put in high resolution textures and would practically effortless to do if Bioware drew them high res in the first place like Unit-Alpha said.

This^^

It's just a small amount of work (seemingly - with prior planning perhaps?) that would really make a huge difference. All in all, more players would be happy and it creates a much better relationship between customer and company, in my opinion.

Arkham City was awesome.

The funny thing is the face textures look ok, it's the armor. Ah well...let's hope Texmod updates start popping up soon.

Cmmon people, it is not Crysis or BF3.

Yes it's not. But there's no reason for it not to look as goog as them, especially since the developers of those 2 particular games are working with/for EA as well and have their own engines and I really don't see a reason why Bioware isn't using the newest Frostbyte or Cryengine and make the game look more beautiful on PC. Even if it's not a PC exclusive, there's no reason to not make a good PC version... like BF3 or Batman Arkham City for example.
