ME1 was developed for the xbox and was great on the PC, ME2 wasn't too bad either. This is a step backwards graphics wise and I can't understand why, normally graphics are improved on a new game not reversed in quality. Just seems very strange to me.

Both ME1 and ME2 have some really bad textures. In ME some are less noticeable due to art design, but they are still there. And ME2 has lots of annoying shots mixing high res and low res textures. They day I discovered the high res textures for characters was a really good one.

ME2 textures were better on PC than Xbox. You didn't get half as much detail on the Xbox than PC.

This is one of the better shots I took

And this is well, this is unacceptable...

My femshep came out so badly I didn't even try to tweak her, I just went with it. But having played the Xbox demo, this is a lot better to look at.

Are the textures on these clothes really that bad? Do the other screenshots we've seen in this thread look worse then this?

Seriously, i would expect graphics like these 3 years ago, but not on an supposedly AAA pc game in 2012.

What grates me most is the low expectations around here.

Textures are bad, I didn't expect them to be good
Animations are clunky at times, I didn't expect them to be good
Gameplay is more clunky than GoW/Uncharted/etc I didn't expect it to be
MP is a basic design, I didn't expect better

I mean come on, this is supposed to be a AAA title, best of everything (see SC2, HL2 etc). Not some A+ good but limited in areas game due to poor/unoptimised coding.

Why don't people expect the best from BioWare? Are your expectations for everything BioWare does bar the story really that bad?

What I really don't understand is why Shepard, the MAIN character, has a low res outfit lol? You're going to be looking at him/her the most yet the outfit is blurry as hell...

I am not as down on the overall graphics as everyone else is but the blurry textures on Shep and Anderson in the first chapter are jarring.  I just don't understand why others think this is acceptable.  The only reason I care is that it isn't like it is a tough thing to add.

Yea, textures suck, mesh work sucks. Normals maps suck.. Pretty much your typical console port. BioWare half ass'd the PC Version like the last two iterations. You'd think after DAII getting DX11 features and HD Texture pack they would of gone the extra mile.. alas, nope.

Well i don't know about the textures but i "imported" my femshep face from ME2 and it looks pretty crappy on ME3.
I hope this is just a light version. The hair color is completely different. She looks great on ME2 but not on ME3.

I really hope the full version is gonna be better but in any case it probably is not a deal breaker for me since what i love the most are the story and the action!

I really don't remember any game with the HL2 level of perfection (for it's release moment). Everything was well done in HL2, never saw anything like that again (maybe Metro 2033).

I love the emotional involvement Bioware games manage to get, but usually are technologically flawed games.

Story.. lmao.. If this is how the game bridges from ME2 to ME3 then good luck with that..

In fact, I thought ME2's story was about as contrived and boring as could be..  Recruit squad for suicide mission to stop a force of bug things that nobody has ever seen before, help said squad with personal errands and daddy issues, go on suicide mission, nobody dies if your half-way intelligent, kill Contra 3 boss, defeat compartmentalised threat that had little emotional connection to Shepard in any way, end game..

ME3 starts with, flickery, shakily animated Reapers attacking with no flow or connection to what had just happened in the previous game, with near no explenation as to what has happened in the time away..

On to the topic, ya, the textures were pretty horrid. Much worse than I could have imagined, I should have just stuck to watching low res youtube clips because at 1920x1080.. wow.. crispness is a detriment to ME3, that's for sure. And ohhh the animations.. running is ridiculous, and what happened to the weight of the character?  Shepard used to actually have some illusory weight to him/her, they would take a second to stop or change direction. Now it feels instant and looks terrible.

And the lip sync.. simply bad.. just bad..

So in conclusion, for me, textures terrible, animations terrible, lip sync terrible aanndd the narrative pacing/flow = nonexistant.. Bah.. pretty disappointed right now..:(

I actually agree that the story in ME is popcorn space epic.

However story quality is something that's largely opinion based, it's hard to prove that somethings bad to people uneducated in how to structure narrative.

But the point is the general arguement is BioWare do good stories so everything else can be a bit lacking. It's an apologist arguement which grates me greatly, but it's the most common defence 'fanboys' will cling to.

Here's my take. These textures were produced in high definition (4096x4096, or 2048x2048, minus the characters) and scaled down to have the demo at a decent size. I remember, ME1 had a setting where you could change the texture detail from low to ultra high. Not to mention go into the config files and change the resolution of those textures to 4096x4096. When you did that, the textures went from super blurry to really good looking.

To some extent I would say the same thing, that if the story/characters/plot/emotional connection is great, the gameplay can be a little on the meh side.. But the sad thing is, Bioware as of late has pretty mundane, forgetable and overall badly structered stories (by late I mean ME2/DA2).  And although I agree that peoples preference in stories is subjective, Bioware games are objectively poorly paced and pieced together, again, as of late.

The overall gameplay and visuals surrounding the meh story is just topping on the bleh cake...

I will still chock it up to EA, as the second they bought Bioware all of their endevours since have felt rushed, contrived, poorly conceived and ultimately greedy cash grabs (I.E. Tons of DLC including exclusive and day one 'should be included anyway but isn't' content)

To keep things on topic.. "What are you talking about OP, ME3 looks amazing!!"

Anderson, an important and prominent character in ME3

compared to random thug number 47 in Arkham City

And since both are UE3 games released on consoles, no excuses can be made about engines or consoles vs PC games...

I gotta say, the game looks great. Sure the body textures are bad, but everything else looks fantastic.

Are you agreeing with that post or not?

If it was made like ItsFreakinJesus states, everyone would be better off..
