Ok, this is really weird. I can't seem to get the kinect support to work in the demo. I know I'm not crazy because I've seen people talking about how good the speech recognition is, on these forums. Not only that but on the Xbox Dashboard, it even specifically mention "Kinect-enabled demo", so I don't know what's going on. I even pulled up the Kinect Tuner in the Guide, while I was playing, and it said that the "Kinect is not supported in this game". Does anyone know what's wrong? I know it's not my Kinect because the speech recognition works fine on the Dashboard and in Halo Anniversary. I even ran the Audio Tuner to make sure the Kinect could here me, and it can. I've done everything I can think of to make it work and it still won't. So, I'm stumped. I hope someone can help because the Kinect features were one of the main things I wanted to test in the demo.

You have to go into the options (narrative) and turn it on.
You can access the options from the menu or in game.
Hope this helped.
P.S. The kinect is very cool in this game :)

Well, don't I feel stupid. I saw that option under narrative but I thought it said Default. It actually said Disabled. It works fine now. Wow, I feel stupid. lol. Thanks.

Don't feel too bad. I think that's kind of fair feedback. I mean, yes, people should read the options clearly. But I was a bit cinfused by a few things. The Helmet options made me have an extra think to what they really mean. I ended up changing them once iwas in-game, because I couldn't see Garrus' face during combat!

ANYways, Kinect. If you bring up the Kinect Tuner it will actually say, "This game does not support Kinect Tracking." Which mean there's no motion stuff, only audio.

I recommened going through the Audio tuning if you haven't done so recently. Have the volume up to where you'd normally have it in-game and then run through it.

Commands:

If you pull up the Power wheel OR Weapon wheel, hovering over an item will tell you its voice command. They are typically listed as:

"Liara - Singularity" or "Garrus - Concussive shot." for the squad and, "First Aid" "Incidiary Ammo" and such for you.

But, I found I was able to use just the phrase, "Singularity" or "Concussive shot." and that worked fine too. I believe the names are only a real benefit if you also have that same power. Otherwise, you're going to trigger your singularity or concussive shot.

Some commands, that were short, were harder for the Kinect ot pick up, such as, "Warp." But "Liara Warp." always worked and was very handy, as I could command the squad to use any of their powers or switch weapons, without pulling up the power/weapon wheel.

Other than that, I also found:
  • *Point Reticle at enemy* - "[Squad Member] Attack."
  • *Point reticle at ground* - "[Squad Member] Move."
  • 90% sure "[Squad Member] Follow Me." works too.

Yeah, I got everything running fine, once I realized that I had the in-game speech recognition disabled. Oh, and I didn't notice that it said Kinect tracking. I guess I was too confused to notice. And if you want a list of voice commands in the demo, here's a good list. The only thing missing from that list is Cover Me, which makes your squadmates concentrate their fire on people shooting at you. Handy for getting out of a tight spot.

One of my favorite Kinect commands: Boomstick. :) Thank you Bioware for that treat. Makes you wonder what other commands that may be hidden treats to use. Only found out about this one from the Kinect video on the Dashboard for Xbox where a guy demoing the game used it.
