I don't have any problems with the controls, I'm still not the best at maneuvering around the battlefield yet but I'm getting the hang of it. I remapped the action button to E and Left Alt, though - E for Use, and Alt for the movement stuff. I tilt my hand while gaming so the Shift key is out of range.

I haven't played ME1 in years and ME2 in months, and the controls were pretty easy to adjust to. Of course, it would be even easier if spacebar wasn't used to roll, take cover and select something. There are more than twelve keys on a keyboard.

i swap left shift and spacebar in me2 and me3 so its like me1..
..makes more sence and feels more natural...all games have left shift as run

what happens if your holding forward already when you press and hold the cover button...roll or cover? will need to try it out.

as with GoW3 and even ME2, once I got use to the controls I had no problem. Same with this, I felt with time I will get the hang of em

This.

Yeah, on the PC, having Spacebar be everything (storm/roll/cover/interact) was jarring as hell considering I started on ME1 having spacebar pause and E be my interact key. After a playthrough or two I got use to it though.

Felt the same way OP. Shepard moved too easily from cover and ugh. Just bad.

You sprint untill you get a cover spot and go to cover.

I've never found a game with bad controls. It's always a question of getting used to them. I'm almost sure that's the case with Mass Effect 3's demo.

Just finished the demo, and had a blast, but there's one glaring problem: The controls are horrible. I found it extremely difficult and frustrating to control Shepard. He rolled when I wanted to sprint, rolled when I wanted to take cover, took cover when I wanted to activate a button, etc.

Hopefully, BioWare ironed out these issues in the final version, but if they didn't, they sure could learn a lesson from Warhammer 40k: Space Marine. The controls in that game are perfect. Shift to sprint, space + directional key to roll.

Shift: Sprint and enter/exit cover.
Space + Directional key: roll and context sensitive actions, like jumping over a gap.

Bioware cant fix anything else the game has gone gold which means what we saw in the demo is probably what we'll get in the full game:D

Apparently, that's too much work for Bioware to bother...

What do you mean? I've found Bioware to be pretty responsive to their fans, especially compared to most of the large game developers and publishers.

Now, you and I both know this isn't true.

Not really, they already said some of the choices were cut out so no it ain't the final build.

i dont know what you guys are complaining about... the game has done everything i ask it to right from the title screen... might be because of the amount of time i spent in gears since this is the exact same game engine... i only wish they had a cover fire system to where you can stay fully in cover yet still be able to shoot (with considerably reduced accuracy of course).

Is there a "unstick to cover" button besides pressing backward button and wait for a second? I find Shepard is prone to stick to cover like it is made out of superglue. If this is ME2 where enemy is mostly staying put I wouldn't complain, but when hordes of enemy tends to rush you (or your objective) with their new AI in ME3, this can be annoying.

Not really, they don't work in exactly the same way as in ME2, but once you adjust they're just as functional, if not more.

A simple press of A/X/Spacebar will get you out of cover.

I'm still getting use to PC gaming.

Things like MMOs I can play with no problem, but movement and combat is not fluid for me yet.

So I don't blame the controls as much as I do myself.
