Because these days in games things can't be bright. They have to be gritty, dark and washed out.
That is a very disappointing trend...

I was. It has been at least five minutes since I have seen someone post a similar comment and the BSN just has not been the same since.
Maybe the skin color change is due to the lack of a "film grain" feature?

i think the trend of making microscopic letters in moder video games is more disappointing but that's another storynobunagatron wrote...

Some people really are spazzing out on the boards, its weird.
I wouldn't think that the lack of film grain would so drastically affect coloring, but its removal has caused me to notice other flaws/technical limitations in human npc facial features. The human women in mass effect all seem to suffer from this weird soft matte facial look that resembles caked on makeup, the aliens for the most part look great. The only human I really think looks great is the male Shepard, who for better or worse is the marketing poster boy for Mass Effect, and Bioware pays extra attention to making sure he looks good.
EDIT: playing ME1 without the film grain is pretty much playing an unpolished game, you see every little mistake that happens.

That is a very big issue that has very specific cause: its not properly formatted for an SD tv screen, they design it to look good in HD. I could barely make out the ME2 codex and then I bought a new tv and everything looked great.
Bioware actually took the time to comment on it when ME2 first came out, and then they took the time to basically tell us to tough up and buy new TVs:bandit:

As for Kirrahe's new colors... I don't know why the artists changed him. It's peculiar, and although he looked better before, I don't mind that he's different. At least they kept his "beard" scales!

He looked better in Mass Effect 1, but I don't mind the change. What I do mind, however, is that he just popped up, advertised a gun, and disappeared. Seeing him successfully lead a team of Salarians against one of the Cerberus squads would have been more satisfying. Of course, he's a minor character so I'm just glad that he was acknowledged.

I do mind the change, but I agree that being a non essential character just having him in there was nice. I actually went out of my way in all of my ME1 playthroughs to make sure he didn't die, so the fact that I couldn't tell who he was just by looking at him is why this color change bothers me enough to make a thread about it.
If Bioware changed him because Salarians get darker as they age, or he became a burn victim between ME 1 and ME3, then while I still wouldn't like the change I could accept it as a sacrifice in the name of character evolution.
If, however, they changed him because they didn't bother to look at the ME1 art assets and character models to make sure the two Kirrahe versions matched ( or they just cut corners and played copy & paste the Salarian ), then I think we have a quality control issue that may indicate ME3 was rushed or Bioware didn't devote the attention to it that the capstone of a wonderful trilogy should warrant. He was an established character so I would hope the artists would have a reason to change him ( or any other character).

His face is darker because his face was caked with all the Cerberus soldiers' blood he killed off camera.
That'd be pretty cool actually, like the red mask from killing my foes in Dragon Age Origins

Remember when Shiala went from purple to green? Remember how they explained it in the FULL game? Remember this is a demo, and not all information is known as of right this second?
Seriously, people need to stop.
Are you suggesting Kirrahe was at one point inside a brown Thorian creature ?
Seriously, people need to stop ****ing whenever customers ask why a certain change was made in a game they like to play.

Honestly, that is probably exactly what happened, a completely avoidable mistake that shouldn't have occurred.

Why would you gather I'm suggesting anything? I said what I said, wait until full game to see if they specify details instead of whining like a ****.

Why does me asking a question bother you so much ? Something happened, I'd like to know why, Bioware provided a forum for people to ask questions and state opinions so I posted a topic. In the real world, people ask questions
Deal with it

Haha so true, I wouldn't have recognised half the people in ME2 if their names weren't above their heads
