I wouldn't have recognized him anyway, nor would've tons of other people. Firstly he wasn't too big of a character and salarians look all a lot alike in my eyes.

Guys, the writers ****ed up, are you really going to defend it by saying "different lighting"? Why didn't anyone else's skin change colour?
I wouldn't say the writers messed it up. Since it's not their job but I don't get why everybody is pissed because of the skin color of a minor character. Maybe 90% of ME players didn't even save him, so they wouldn't notice anyway. I finished my last ME 1 playthrough couple of days ago and honestly I would've never noticed. Don't be so nitpicky guys. Save it until you're through with the whole game, then you truely have the right to judge every single bit.

The lighting between Virmire and Sur'Kesh just isn't different enough to produce the color change, especially just in one character. It could possibly happen In certain areas of Omega where the dark red lighting washes alot of other colors and details out, but that obviously wasn't the case here.

I'm not pissed per se, I just happen to expect established characters to be visibly distinct and noticable; I,as a player of ME1, didn't realize it was Kirrahe until Shep called him out by name, that is a small, but noticable issue for me.
If you're going to change a chararcter's appearance to the point where he isn't recognizable to a number of ME1 veterans, even a minor character, then I would hope there was a story or lore based reason for it and not " uhhhh we forgot what he looked like so just whip up a new look.."
They have his original designs and character renderings, so I'm merely asking why they bothered to change him, it was an unneccesary and somewhat awkward change.

Well they never stated they were American, and the COD games are about killing everything that isnt from 'Merica so I don't know think they have to be Russians.

Can someone please tell me how to save kirrahe he always dies for me, I assumed it always happened.
Take out all enemy stuff on Virmire (fliers, fuel, etc.), don't use the alarms to distract the guards. When you have to choose between the bomb and the AA tower, go to the AA tower.

I hope this "mistake" isn't actually in the final game O.o Having Morlan as Kirrahe would be a huge fail.

The bolded doesn't matter. Everything else does.
I always save Kaidan at the bomb and Kirahee is alive in all my games. (save one where I killed him intentionally.

You don't have to go to the AA tower.
