[From the demo]

[It doesn't spoil much, only that Wrex is on it]

Ok, anyone else think this line sounded forced as heck?

Wrex: "I appreciate that, Liara. I wouldn't want anyone else along for the ride."

Seriously, where does that come from? [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] It sounded so freaking out of character from Wrex. It comes out of nowhere, and slaps you in the face with a mary-sue-ish strength that I frankly was not ready for.

I can picture the writer's team working on the writing prior to ME3:

"Ok guys, I've been thinking, and I got some ideas to improve Liara's character. One, she has to look tougher, meaner, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever she's not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Liara?" Three..."

Good thing it prompted Garrus' appearance a second later. :D That defused the awkwardness somehow. Him and Wrex were, otherwise, glorious.

Also, if you come across other "out of character" sounding lines, feel free to post them here. There's not much to work with so far, though.

They made Wrex a little soft and the Garrus part bothered me too.

You'll understand once you hear it in context. Or not. I myself am still greatly confused and angry.

It sounds like Wrex is sucking up to Liara.

Yeah, that sounded weird. I never got that impression from Wrex, but then again, Liara was hardly present in my games.

They've all experienced a disaster together and survived.....ofcourse the core team is all bonded now. Would you rather have them still be like "You guys suck can't wait till this is over so i  can cut loose". I imagine Jack is softer now too.

I also took it as Wrex showing a little respect for the new Shadow Broker

You should see his lines if Shepard destroyed the cure in ME2.

They don't have any meaningful interaction in Mass Effect 1 and they don't even see each other during Mass Effect 2. There is banter in Mass Effect 1, but in my opinion their connection is not solid enough to make a heartfelt line like THAT sound natural. Not by a long shot.

Yeah maybe Wrex has mellowed a bit? He was a jerk to Garrus and i dont see where the Liara line comes from. But its the original team so it'll pass

Not really that out of character for him since they all took down Saren together in ME 1. They all got to know each other and they have been through war together.

I actually agree that it seemed out of character. He was always kind of gruff to Liara in ME1. On Noveria when she protests to killing the Rachni Queen he says something like, "What's the matter? Do the asari need another species to cuddle up to?"

Nah, it's just a "look at this line of dialogue, don't you guys think it's weird?" thread.

Everyone, feel free to post examples of other out-of-character seeming lines if you please. This one just stood out to me.

Wrex has an overall grudge against Turians. You can definitely see that he holds Garrus in low regards in ME1 like the coversations in the elevators for instance. If you bring Garrus and Wrex along during the Rachni incident on Noveria and choose to kill the Queen then Garrus will exclaim that "Genocide is one of the reasons we fought the Krogan". Of course he quickly realizes he shouldn't have said that, and Wrex retaliates. Anyway, all in all Wrex generally has a deep amount of respect for the people he worked with during the hunt for Saren. I wasn't surprised by that line at all.

Not convinced. Because, seriously, one line of dialogue (from a game of how much text?) is a hell of a leap to going "it's like the writers were all  "whenever she's not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Liara?" ".

Personally, I didn't quite get Wrex' "It's too dangerous to land!" line, coupled with him NOT jumping off the shuttle to fight alongside Shepard. They had a shuttle pilot who could've kept the thing safe while Wrex goes on to wreak havoc. I've likely missed something here?
