Femshep + ahoge = must buy! :o

In no way is Shepard, female or male, a fool.

Well, I guess that depends on the player behind him/her.

Having ahoge doesn't mean you're a fool.

There is nothing wrong with destroying the entire galaxy while looking cute and sexy.

>> Buck the gaming industry trend in creating female characters notable for their intelligence, courage, capability and strength.
>> Do a 180 and fall in line with that same trend by licensing Japanese-style figurines for a western RPG that sexualize and trivialise those much-loved characters.

As a feminist, I should probably be outraged. But honestly, with pretty much every development in the Mass Effect area these days I just grow more and more disappointed with Bioware. So I've reached the stage of being merely dyspeptic.

Still, I have to hand it to them. Bioware really know how to troll.

Funny how a fan-made figurine is more faithful to the in-game design than the officially-licensed one is.

Sorry, but you are not the target audience, nor will you ever be.

I know, I know. But let's be honest, here; if it were only ever about the target audience, we never would have had Femshep in the first place. What was that statistic? Only 18% of Shepards are female?

The 'target audience' is what kept only Manshep in the marketing and on the game cases for the first two games. But with the third game, Bioware realised what Femshep meant to the ME community. They engaged with that part of the community, which was great.

And then they do stuff like this. I have to say that it seems a contradiction to me that Bioware makes the 'artistic integrity' argument in defence of their widely-hated endings, but appear not to give a Varren's backside about maintaining the integrity of popular female characters.

It looks okay, but I'll pass and hope that Play Arts Kai will release their own figure of FemShep. They already made ManShep, Ash, and Garrus and I hope they'll make more.

"Consisting of a single, often large, lock of hair sticking out from the top of the head, it is most often used to identify foolish, bumbling or carefree "

I agree with the cute part, though.

Wait, I never even knew about the comics, now you're telling me there's actually anime-like figurines/models for sale as well?

Whoa...that's...but look at the drawing, Femshep ingame doesn't have missle cones for breasts, they're barely noticable on the ingame model . In fact as far as I can tell, Femshep is the only female in the game who ISN'T well endowed XD

Also Lucky Star hair antennea, lol

That's the definition of it, but it doesn't mean the character is necessarily foolish, bumbling or carefree. ;)

What's so bad about this? I don't really like the pose but that's about it.

Nothing is wrong with it, just a bit of culture shock I guess. Didn't realise you could buy anime'd Mass Effect models/figurines of the girls looking sexy.

Also that the "anime" Femshep looks closer to the promo art than the actual ingame Femshep did :P

I didn't find the figure sexy at all. It's pretty differen't than the "Liara" one that almost got released. I can't see why it's offensive or degrading to women honestly.

IDK why they don't just make regular Kotobukiya statues instead of the gimmicky Bushoujo babyfaced crap.    I'd buy a legit Liara statue, but that one they're making isn't Liara.  Its some random 15 year old asari dressed like her.   Same will be for this Shepard one, well... a 15 year old human girl.

I think ME suits Play Arts Kai better than Kotobukiya Bishoujo. I'd buy the hell out of a Play Arts Kai Liara, Tali or Femshep.

I want this statue, but only because it'll probably be next year before we get a Play Arts kai FemShep.

Not bad actually.

If you dont like anime then clearly your not going to like it no matter how good of a job is done on it, its going to look like an anime figure because it is an anime figure.

i don't really like the shift to anime-style either but some ppl like it and will buy it

the real question is why BW went to a Japanese company and not an American/Western one

Because American/Western companies can't make figures for crap.

Take these two Garrus figures for example.

American-made: fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/338/e/9/garrus_figure_by_ravette2004-d348778.jpg

Japanese-made: 28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2ggblBBT71r0qkbxo3_1280.jpg

Yeah.  The Play Arts Kai Garrus wins.  Square-Enix may not be able to make a good video game anymore, but they can make damn good figures.  I just hope there's a FemShep in the works for the future, along with Tali and Liara.

Until then, we have this statue.  I've enjoyed the artwork designs that have accompanied the Bishoujo line, but have yet to buy one(though Lucy the Ghostbuster was on my list).  That's going to change.

American Garrus fights with his fists, Japanese uses Incisor. Your argument is invalid :o
