Indeed not.

It would be if FemShep would look the latter, alas she does not.

But of course one exception does not make my opinion wrong - I am still right, and you are a sad person to gloat and rage still, days after the thread was locked.

I should know better, but I'm going to address this.

You completely fail to differentiate between objectification and representation.
You demonstrably wish FemShep would conform to a certain appearance, yet you still argue it would be for the benefit of women, and an abject injustice towards men.
You are either so blinded by your internalised privilege that you are incapable of even trace amounts of introspection, or simply willfully ignorant.

My most sincere condolences to any women in your immediate acquaintance.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a rage war by drawing that pic, was just pointing out the Western style versus an Asian anime style. Anime basically having smaller mouth, younger appearance, bigger bust, longer legs, thinner neck, fuller hair and wider eyes -while all around appearing more "cute". To explain the model.

It wasn't meant to start a sexism debate. I'm sorry. Hell I thought EDI's body would be more like Marvin, the Paranoid Android to match her hologram. >_<

Your drawing was fine, and I thought it highlighted the humorous incongruity in making FemShep such a cutesy and sexualised character. I'm very sorry if I seemed to be pointing fingers at you when the target of my ire was someone else entirely.

I dont understand why feminists always equal beauty with objectification.

I would find it hostile to women if they were portrayed as ugly and disgusting.

Oh, is that it?  All women should strive to be those buxom vixens and objects of sexuality for men instead of being whoever the heck they wanna be?

Your privilege and internalized misogyny is sickening.

Because thats the way women work. Not only do they just scream "equal rights" as long as it only serves to their advantage, but they also dislike when other women use advantages they do not possess, perceived or true.

And of course, its a way to excert power and nurish their inferority complex. Running around and calling people out on stuff like that does provide power. Having 20 more people join in, provides validation.

Just like the stereotype American Cheerleader clique that receives power and validation by setting them appart from everyone else by their looks. You have hardcore feminists sticking together and receiving the very same emotional feedback by taking the "moral high road", or at least what they perceive to be a moral high road.

Noone ever complains about men usually being attractive and type casted. Noone takes offense in Shepard looking like he could very well be an underwear model.

Its just the issue with women. Some women feel their looks are inferior or they can't really reach those levels, so they try to demontage and discredit and debunk the whole thing as an attempt to validate themselves. Saying its unfair and attempting to change the fact that there are models or plastiques and figurines being made of sexually attractive or ideal people, calling it unjust and whatever floats their boat at that time, only is a means to really say "I feel like i can't compete with that, so please, show something i can compete with".

Oddly enough, men don't seem to be bothered by being forced to look at underwear models or having to listen to their girlfriends/wives how much of a "hot piece of meat" Actor XY is. Or watching them fawn over some romance story with men being overly sensitive and manely. Or... lets be honest... men don't organize themselves to take out their inferority complex on a public level and receive validation by other men who feel inferior to it.

No they shouldnt. But games are not reality, so in games they should be perfect.

Real life is full enough of problems, we dont need them in games too. What is next, do you clamor for a mentally disabled hero because these are not represented well enough?!

Oh and to make it more ridiculous: Buxom vixen and sex object dont go well together. I prefer small and firm.

Indeed.

But it is a trend I see a lot on this forum (and elsewhere, though not as often) that self-proclaimed feminists put down every good-loooking woman and treat her as a sex object for men.

Apparently, only if you are ugly you can have a worth of your own. What a sickening philosophy, it is just as bad as those who judge people surely based on how good they look.

@ Bobsmith: Shep is about 32 or so, how is that too old? Especially in a future where 100 is a rather low age to reach, and most humans live about 130 years, some even 150.

Aaah, thanks for explaining, I'm guessing a Liara version was made earlier and people were upset about it?

Old and still ugly as hell. Why do female characters smile so much? Is there life better than male characters or something? Even in the box art of ME3, FemShep is smiling while Sheploo looks like he pissed himself.

Google bishoujo liara and select images.

But that's what you're doing right now. You are publicly seeking validation from other men who perceive the world the same as you, with a through-line of petty contempt for women who do not abide by the patriarchal constructs which seem to define your privileged definition of society.

I'm hesitant to share this because I fear it might shake the very foundations of your perception of reality: but feminists don't actually mind sexy.
Actually, we are very fond of sexy. Sexy is absolutely smashing.
It's objectification and the pervasive male gaze for which we have a low tolerance.

Seriously, who dropped the ball and let you out of The Spearhead? I thought you people were supposed to be kept on a short leash lest you allow your strawmen and distortion to run amok.
The internet can only take so much.

It's a Japanese thing loli face with a grown up body. Creepy is the usual result.

Easier to pull off in anime.

I did? Where? I don't care if people agree to me, it remains my opinion. And where do you figure i am a man? Because women would never write such a thing? A little sexist, don't you think?

My definition of society? Hmm, where did i speak about my definition of society? What is my definition of society? And please, don't go around and make stuff up which you have no indication for, just because i don't fit your little mold.

Where did i say that feminists do mind sexy? Maybe, and i will admit to such, i wasn't clear enough, but i actually said some feminists mind the things they fear they can't compete with, perceived or true. That doesn't say you have a problem with sexy. It says you have a problem with "so sexy you believe you can't compete with it".

It doesn't say feminists are ugly women and it doesn't say feminists hate short skirts. It simply says feminists hate what they perceive they can't compete with.

And you don't need to agree, we both know its true.

So buttom line is, you mind men to gaze at other women. So basically you already agreed with me.

Agreesive much? Well then again, there is that thing about squeeling dogs when they get struk. But really is all that agression necessary, or did you just run out of arguments so you try to hope to disuade me by being "in my face"?

Calmly expressing your opinion wasn't in store today, was it?

resorting to personal attacks on someone you don't know to get your point across never works

it makes you look way more bigoted and idiotic than the person you're arguing with . . . . . . especially when your entire reply is based off of misconcieved conceptions

word.

I would also like to point out that freaking sheploo is based on a model.
Main characters are attractive, no matter the sex.

I find it even more sexist that you only find shepard being attractive an issue BECAUSE she is a female.
