Hello everyone,
Just noticed a spate of complaints pertaing to low graphical performance, crashing and whatnot.
For the most part, if you were able to run Mass Effect 2, you should be able to run Mass Effect 3 properly as well. (I actually found it ran better...).
However a common glitch, especially for machines with multiple graphic cards, is that the game would crash or suffer from slow frames.
Solution for most cards
- Force your computer to run it using the High end graphic driver. Basically the computer has yet to understand that the game requires a good card and so automatically opts for the low end card. Especially for Thinkpad machines.
Steps:
- Nividia
- Search for "Nvidia Setting", it should have come with your computer. Open the program
- Go to 3D setting, Select the "Manage 3D Settings"
- Now click the "Program Settings" Tab
- Click the "Add" Button
- Navigate to "File Path..\\Origin\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\Binaries\\Win32" and click on the "MassEffect3Demo.exe"
- Now you're free to decide how the graphic cards handle the program.
- Underneath the above option, you should find the "Select the preferred graphics processors for this computer"
- Tell it to choose "High Performance NVIDIA processor" it may vary, but the idea is the same
- Dont forget to look at the bottom left and click the "Apply" button
And done. You might need to restart the Demo and Origin for it to work. But it should help with a majority of the problems.
PS: Did anyone else find that the demo of Mass Effect 3 had a better performance that the Mass Effect 2 game? If so Kudos to Bioware.

Try disabling Origin overlay. Open your Origin, then go to Settings > In-game then disable "activate origin in-game".
and try and download Ioribit game booster or advanced system care

Instead of adding a new profile just download the new beta drivers from geforce.com, they have ME3 SLI profiles for both the demo and final game. They've been out for a week or two. Version 295.51

My framerate doubled, after using this tweak.
Having laptop with nVidia GT 540M + Intel HD3000, using Optimus.
P.S.
The weird thing is that without this tweak my optimus indicator still shows that gpu is running mass effect demo, and temp rating are higher (as if gpu is used), yet framerate is much lower.
