Hi there,

okay anyway as it is an SP game, everyone could play as he likes.
But sometimes I want to see how others have developed their char and how they finished the game, just to compare what is possible.

Now I have seen very often chars with items +150 to all attributes and so on.

So maybe Bioware could put a special Icon on the site, like "Cheated Item" instead of the armor ... okay most of the time there is already that "red X" , but "Cheated Item" would be better ...

I really would see what "official items" other players have used and which could be found in the game and I have missed.

Thank you

Isn't accusing other players of 'cheating' rather petulant and spiteful? While it may be unnatural given the context of the in-game universe to have uber loot at a low level (if that is the case), it isn't quite the same as having an overpowered character in an MMO setting where the imbalance and resulting exploit would affect other players' enjoyment of the game. DA:O is a singleplayer RPG for individual play and technically, you're not quite bound to compete with anyone else unless you want it to be that way. Also, modders should be free to modify the game as they please without fearing interference, since they paid money for the purchase; whether one likes it or not, it's perfectly within a modder's rights to reskin all party members and give them Dog's head model if they so choose. Same with in-game items.

There are wiki guides for that, so your request on that basis is unnecessary.

Well, I think, the last time I dug through the character files, that there was a "check" mark for if the character had been cheating.

But if this value could be tampered with, there's not much to do about it.

It's fine though, we get some cool portraits from some of these cheaters. Look up Fester Pot, that guy is a hoot.

I usually run up the console if I have done a certain quest/area before and find it tedious. That's only really for The Fade, actually.

Many players are using the console as a workaround for many of the current bugs in the game. Many players are using any number of the freely available user-made mods. So not only do you want them clearly labelled as "cheaters" but you want them punished as well? This is a SINGLE PLAYER game, it has a freely available toolset for users to create whatever their imaginations can come up with. Whatever anyone chooses to do with their copy of the game has absolutely no impact on you or anyone else. I totally agree with Amberyl Ravenclaw's comments.

@  Flash Aron: Did you even take time to think about what the effect of labelling players as "cheaters" and punishing them in any way would do to the player community? Or what would happen to the new DA:O modding community?

It's a single-player game. Do what you want with it as long as you're having fun. Overusing cheats is of course a way to break that fun.

Cheating is sometimes needed to fix characters. It also can be used to ease  playthrough being done for the enjoyment of the story, rather then the gameplay. So quite frankely, shove your "Punish Cheaters" where the sun don't shine.

Heck, you should WANT to see some of these items. Yeah, there are people who make absurd overpowered items but some of us make items that are reasonably powered but look better. I know I've made a couple of mage robes because I didn't like the look of the Tevinter's Mage robe. What if you hated that robe too and you browsed over to my profile and though "hey, that's cool, I want that too maybe I'll ask him about it."

Of course...my character isn't updated right now so the point is moot, lol.

Bioware made the toolset available, so as far as I'm concerned, there's no cheating about it. If you are really curious about the "official" items check out the gameplay forum and if that's all you're interested in... well get used to an ugly mage.

Oh go suck an egg, first it's not really possible to tell who all has cheated and who hasn't. You can tell if specific cheats have been used but there are always dozens of exploits that could never be addressed. Second how does it hurt you if someone cheats? You see their stats, they're obviously cheaters, you know who they are, what do you want BioWare to do about it?

Hey guess what, I have 800 in each stat and my main character Dual classes Warrior and Rogue, and I have the haste spell on my hot bar and use the Forge project to create uber items for all my characters giving them each at least +100 to all stats. What are you going to do about it? *Takes off his pants and wrestles a nug*

Toolkits really blur the line between "cheating" and modding, and not really a reasonable request.

To save on processing power I think the request should be made to say.... anyone who hasn't registered the game cannot upload character/achievements to the site. It still seems to go through times where updates are remarkably slow, and some not being done at all like several of my characters. Would cut down on pirates getting recognition and wasting processing power for them that legitimate owners should be able to benefit from. Registration issues don't seem to be all that problematic anymore. And even if it is still a sporadic problem, once you are able to register and play your character it will update for you. As has happened with my main character. I didn't register for two days after buying the game, and he still uploaded flawlessly after my first save.

Why should a pirate who is too cheap to buy the game, or who has some self-given entitlement to it for free, be able to get the same benefits (and processing time on this site) as those that actually gave Bioware their support for a great game? Support the supporters.

Well unless you have a valid product key you can't get the same support if you're a pirate. In order to even register your game you need a valid product key. Of course, pirates don't have to deal with a lot of the issues we need support with, but they can't get official support when they need it.

That is a good point.  But in terms of the Bioware social site, they are taking up processing time/power/space that could be better used for the official supporters.  Bioware has been saying demand has been higher than expected on the social site which is accounting for the slow processing of account data and forum problems in a lot of cases.  If you didn't worry about processing any account that wasn't registered you would potentially free up some processor time.  Thus allowing faster updates, and helping to lower the load on their system.

Not much different than the forums as they are now.  If not registered you could post only in a couple of them, but get all of them when you register.  If you haven't registered the game you only get a very limited set of data, at a very low priority (if at all) showing up in your char settings, which unlocks as soon as you register.
