Maybe with narrow FOV, it can somewhat weaken unjust advantage coming from 3rd person view?

i.e. while hiding behind the wall, you can still see the enemy movement with ease.

Though not against adjustable fov.

Tip for Bioware. Develop for PC's first, tone it down for consoles. Not the other way around.

Good advice, too bad the XBOX360 is where the money is !

I would second the call for a FOV adjustment in the utility manager. FOV needs to be much higher. I don't know why making an adjustable FOV setting isn't an industry norm at this point. Way too many different TV/monitor sizes to be have a fixed value.

I understand why its kept low for console, but the PC versions should include at least an .ini setting.

This. FOV settings for PC games should be mandatory. Boggles my mind how developers are still so careless about it in 2012.

That is not even totally true, is you look at the sales numbers it is mostly like 10% PC, ca. 45% xbox ca. 45% ps3. but that are always just the retail sales. for example Portal 2 also had these kind of numbers but Valve states themself that the game sold more copies on PC than on consoles if you include digital distribution.
Also games like Starcraft 2 or the Total War Series sell good enough and are pc exclusive, but for some reason some folk rather pays 10$ more for the consol version if it is a multiplatform title. I don't know why...

Hell even here in the Demo Poll some great user did, PC is most used plattform.

The narrow FOV needs to go and it is just a little change in the engine setting to set a new FOV, so impementing this in the game options or even just the configurator should neither be hard nor time consuming. Not doing so is just like saying, we don't care if our product makes you sick.

Not true at all. PC sales of games that are actually good PC releases are higher than either Xbox360 or PS3 sales. Overall PC influence on the market is around 45%, with 55% divided between Xbox, PS, Wii, and handhelds

I'm with you about the FOV. But as PC gamer it totally sucks to belong to a minority, which obviously game devs can afford to ignore.

Every PC game should have the option to adjust the FOV. Or at least make the default FOV 90 degrees horizontal..

What it's set to right now is terrible.

No, you can't. Not as far as I can see. Care to enlighten the rest of us?

I actually don't mind the current FOV in the slightest, and I think it's leagues above the bizarrely close settings in ME2 (though it may just be a better camera or less shaky-cam, I'm not sure), but I would still like a customization option. Given that I've been trying to get my father into this stuff and he quite literally can't play games like Mass Effect as they make him ill, I can at least somewhat sympathize with those who won't be able to play ME3 because of the lower FOV.

At this point, FOV is starting to seem like subtitles to me. Most people won't use it, but it seems like a bad idea to leave it out, given the amount of people that outright NEED the functionality. Hopefully, like subtitles did over the last few years, more developers (set a standard here, BioWare!) will start to recognize the need for adjustable settings in this area.

ME2 and ME3 are both default FOV=70. I played around with it in the ME3 demo, and FOV=80 is about right for my old 4:3 CRT. 70 isn't all that bad though. Widescreen's probably a different story.

I have played more than usual tonight as I have been invited to a few gold level attempts. I started to get sick during the 3rd game and had to push my way through until the end (seriously, cold sweats and nausea). I thought it was just me being ill but now, I'm a bit worried. Like a few people I know, I've taken time off work for a week starting on the release date. I don't actually want to be sick during this time...

Its kinda ironic that I replaced my old ****ty 19'' with a widescreen just to be able to enjoy ME3 with up to date hardware; now I get really sick from the narrow FOV that feels like everything is zoomed in.
Great, Thank you BW:

I'm laying down right now in bed. Not feelin' so hot....

It's not just the dizziness and headaches that are the problem with this FOV, it's also your situational awareness and how "flat" foreground and background objects become because of the viewing angle. It's like zooming a camera in instead of pulling it back. This hinders the overall immersion in the game environment, which is a shame since all the Mass Effect games have beautiful environments.

Love the MP though :o

The worst is when you are playing a Krogan in Multiplayer. They take up 1/3 of the darn screen! I can hardly see what I'm doing half the time.   :(

That's no longer correct with this game, they are finally using the updated unreal engine that is hor+!!!

This is false.  Even if they are using a new version of the engine, it is still set to Vert-

I play this game pillarboxed (black bars on the side of the screen) just to get a better FOV.  PLEASE add an option to customize it so I can use my whole monitor.

Yeah that's another mystery, they make theese awesome and beatiful environments, but it's very hard to appreciate the artistic qualities with such a narrow FOV, it's feels like taking a picture or painting and cutting away half of it.

Agree FoV is too narrow. I found a fix for the demo by editing a .bin file, but I'm not going to purchase the game until this is fixed.

I'm not trying to make some silly moral stand or anything like that, I'm just worried that my Origin account will get banned for tampering with the game files, and I simply can't play it at the default FoV without feeling sick.

I am not very sensitive to low FOV but I would still prefer to play with at least a 75 FOV. This isn't the kind of game that I don't mind playing at a low FOV, Metro 2033 I was fine with because it enhanced the claustrophobic feel and didn't really hinder the gameplay. Mass Effect, however, isn't a slow paced game, and this FOV makes it annoying to play at times. This isn't so much a problem in the single player for me, but more the multiplayer. If anyone has a way to change the FOV without using an external program, please share.

This field of view is especially annoying when playing as a Krogan. Please fix this, Bioware!
