I have a strange issue that I've had since I got my new graphics card. I've been unable to play games in fullscreen so I play them in windowed if possible. Unfortunately the problem isn't just fullscreen and I'm unable to increase the resolution beyond 1280x720 without going through launch options (Steam) or through some sort of config file.

It's not necessary to read the above just explaining the issue in case anyone wants to ask why I need to force the resolution in the first place.

I did find the Mass Effect 3 Config file and I messed around with it for a bit, changing some numbers to 1920x1080 hoping it would stick but it hasn't. So I would like to know which lines specificly I would need to change to force it to use my desired resolution.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Changing the values in the CFG file should change the resolution the game launches at, but you'd also have to change "Fullscreen=True" to "Fullscreen=False" and might want to try changing "BorderlessWindow=False" to "BorderlessWindow=True" as well to see if it helps.

I'd also recommend making sure you're running the newest video card drivers, as that helped a lot of folks on another forum I'm surfing tonight. Not sure what the newest AMD ones are, but the newest NVidia are 295.51 beta drivers that added SLI support and such just for ME3.

Good luck!

Yeah I'm playing in borderless windowed mode at this very moment but the resolution won't go past 1280x720. I just want to know what to change exactly to make the resolution the native 1920x1080.

My Graphics card driver are up to date. It supposedly has something to do with the LCD television I use as my monitor but I don't have any concrete evidence to support that theory quite yet.

LN32B460B2DUZA it's just a Samsung I've owned for a few years or so. The thing is I had no problems with my older card the hd 5670.

Based on the Samsung website, that TV is only a 720p set, which is why you can't do 1920x1080.

How have I been playing every game since I got it at 1920x1080..? and my desktop is at 1920x1080 right now.

You don't have to attempt to fix the problem. I've had it for a while and I've lived with it by playing games in windowed mode (which I prefer anyway) and forcing the resolution via a config file or something of that nature. I just want to know which lines to change to force the game to use this resolution.

Well if there was a simply solution that would make things easier going forward, it would be worth discovering.

I know AMD cards used to have a tab in the driver settings just for TV mode stuff. Might be worth looking there, or dropping a note on some AMD forums like here.....

I'm sure if you posted there someone would get you an answer that makes sense.

I can only go by what the specs tell me, and Samsung says thats not a 1080i/p television, but if you say you can get that resolution, then I have absolutely no clue.

Best of luck!

Yeah I may try posting in the amd forums as well about my issue. But for now I'd still like to know what to change in the config file to force my resolution if anyone has knowledge of this.

Just wondering if you used the "MassEffect3DemoConfig.exe" program yet to try and solve this ?  I don't
have the demo here (refuse to allow Origin on my PC)  however a mate called me up saying he was having problems getting any decent resolutions above 1600 x 900.  Now I know for a fact his PC and Monitor are capable of 1080p resolutions (I choose the parts and built it for him).

So any way I popped around to see if I could fix the problem.  Go to the folder where the Mass Effect 3 Demo is installed. Then go into the Binaries folder and you will find the  "MassEffect3DemoConfig.exe"  launch that program then click on the video option. A series of options to the right will show up.  In the first  item called "Window" select Default.  Hopefully by doing that 1920 x 1080 should now be available which you can set from that config program.

Once done just go to MassEffect3Demo title bar and select save settings.  Hope this helps.

Yeah that's the first thing I tried but the resolution tab is greyed out.

...lol ok I solved it. Apparently the ratio was set at 16x10 instead of 16x9. Once i get it 16x9 it popped right up to 1920x1080.
Thanks for the help.

Nice! Glad to hear it!

Now enjoy that demo!
