Having read the Eurogamer Digital Foundry analysis of performance on Xbox/PS3 it seems that PC is certainly the platform to go with, which makes it worse it doesnt support controllers.

It suggests the framerates as low as 15-20 in places!

For this reason, I won't be buying this game. If you don't provide me with the product I want, then you don't get my money.

So you don't have funding to do controller support (which even a minimum wage programmer kid could do), but you can mess around with kinect....

I have a PS3. If you seem so intent on me playing it on a console then maybe I'll just rent it.

I was carefully hoping to finally be able to play Mass Effect on my tv from my lounge chair, but it looks like I'll be at my desk and office chair yet again.

Call me narrow minded, but I don't understand why BioWare "can't afford" to port the gamepad controls over, when smaller developers make them from scratch just fine.
It's not tempting to buy an entire console simply to change the control scheme for a single game.

I'm older than your average gamer. I have been playing games a long time. I spent a good amount recently on a nice HTPC/DVR. I play most of my games on it now with a controller. When I play with mouse & keyboard intensely, as I tend to do on an anticipated game like ME3, I start getting carpal tunnel symptoms. Since I have a job where I use a computer as well, this means that I can either game or work. Not a good solution. But if I use a controller, then everything is kosher as it's more ergonomic.

So now I'm kind of screwed. I guess I won't be getting ME3 after all. Perhaps at some later date if they ever release a patch of the game with controller support. But with EA's track record on that kind of update, I guess I'm just kind of hosed.

Maybe I'll just go back to Skyrim and finish off some of those sidequests I never got to--since Bethesda included controller support for PC. IMHO, this design decision was very poor.

SUPPORT FOLKS:  Is there a chance of a patch, or is that something that is not currently being considered?

Based on that guy's work and recent ME3 coalesced extraction tool I was able to enable some basic X360 gamepad support. There is obviously no power wheel and gamepad does not work in menus and conversations, but it works ingame.

powers 1, 2, 3 from action bar were mapped to left shoulder, right shoulder, Y

You should still be able to access command menu (pc version of power wheel) and use it/assign abilities on bar with mouse.

Since this is pretty much for the sake of testing, most keybinds that are not used in demo (galaxy map, vechicles) were left untouched.

I have no idea how to implement power wheel or menu support so don't expect that from me. If anyone wants to give it a try, feel free. This is basically SRIMK's work, I just ported it to ME3.

Hopefully someone capable enough will eventually make a proper mod.

Modified Coalesced.bin:
http://www.speedysha...d-X360Ctest.rar

instructions:
1. Back up original Coalesced.bin from ...\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole
2. Copy modified Coalesced.bin to ...\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole
3. Run the game
4. (optional) if the controls do not work at all you may need to go to settings > input and reset keybinds to default

Caution: it is recommended that you run this mod while being in Origin offline mode and do not access multiplayer. It is unknown whether Origin will register this as cheating or not.

Also, game may crash at random moments.

Please  Bioware, add  a  Controller support for 360 Controllers.
I love playing Third Person Shooters with a Controller it would be a shame i couldn't do it with ME3 :<
And some way we can change the Field of View ^_^

Yea I have been asking for years I even started a thread  for ME2  I finally used Pinnacle Game Profiler and It's a shame Bioware has the baloon head syndrome by not listening to the people who buyImage IPB their stuff. I bought CE Editions for PC and Ps3 and will get the one for ios , so please Bioware  put it in , nothing like native support. Give the people what they want... All three games

I use my pc like a console. Its faster and the visuals are leaps and bounds better.

I play from a couch on a tv, not a monitor. While keyboard and mouse are great if your hunched over a desk, its not so great for my setup. In fact its downright impractical. My own fault for buying both ME1 and 2 for pc recently, assuming gamepad support.

Too much time wasted on kinect would be my guess. I hope the feature is a colossal failure.

While I'd never use it myself, it seems nonsensical to leave it out given that the game is essencially a console port.

Knowing the business, I bet their reticence to put it in is something stupid like not wanting to factor it into the tutorial texts, and more importantly the localizations.

Yes I agree but I think since PC Gamming has gotten so popular, I can't help but think there is  some bias reason behind this.

I want to buy this game for my PC. But I'm not doing it until they support the 360 controller.

BioWare, I'm not going to rage and threaten. I want to invest in your product. I have money set aside for this game. Please fix this or explain why you won't/can't.

Thanks.
