I'm disappointed with the quaity of writing present in the demo.

I knew the game was going to have it's fair share of cheese, but that demo contained some of the most ham-fisted dialougue I've ever seen in a bioware game. I mean it was just filled with dumb one liners and stilted conversations.
Is this what I can expect the rest of the game to be like?
give me 2 examples, and i will belive
"i owe you one"
".... you owe me 2" *smug smirk*
"everybodys.... DYING!!! *waaa*"
pretty much every line in this demo was cringe
Ok so take these 2 situation:
-anderson grabing shepard
-kid in a shaft
and try to make them not cringe
this is my point
the whole game is cheesy. not just the writing. it was someones decsion to PUT that little kid in the game, and to specifically show Shepard randomly nearly falling and Anderson helping her
*break from fight scene*
*hears noise*
*child by himself*
*sad music kicks in*
*EVERYBODY DYING! YOU CANT HELP ME!*
*look away for second, look back... the kid has myseriously vanished*
... like seriously. thats some of the crappiest, cheesiest set ups you can get
and what about shepards slow turn to Anderson
*i will bring every fleet to rescue you!*
*.... slow head turn, deep moody voice*
*good luck*
seriously these people at bioware are aiming this game at people in the 8-13 year old bracket and if you cant see it then youre probably the person its being aimed at! its actually insulting its come this far since me1 and thats what annoys me
I'm getting sick of this BS already; the writing is fine.
I'm sorry this isn't Californifcation or Saving Private Ryan.

Yeah, but it gets old after awhile. And it also brings lame excuses way certain things happen within the story (can't say due to ME3 spoilers). ME could have been a more complex story without the usage of indoctrination to simplify everything.Blacklash93 wrote...

That is your opinion, you have to learn to respect other peoples opinion, a lot of people do. People are allowed to intelligently talk negatively about BioWare games.

Yeah, it was pretty bad, but nothing that couldn't be justified.
As for Anderson's "more than one", he was mumbling that to himself. And rightfully so - how many times has he helped Shepard? A bunch. Hell, the ME1 extravaganza of getting Shepard un-grounded so he could race to Ilos was enough debt.
Of course, there were a few others. The infamous "we fight or we die", "what if they won't listen", "the fight is here"... This is all just Shepard being blunt.
He's not saying they have to fight or they'll die. No derp. He's saying that he's tired of the inaction about the Reapers. Everyone has constantly avoided the issue, and now they're on their doorstep. There is no more stowing the problem. It's RIGHT THERE, it's a threat, and they need to do something about it.
"What if they won't listen?" in direction to the Council may come off as a little whiny, but it's true enough. Even with the Reapers right there, who's to say the Council will care?
And of course, "the Council? The fight is here" is one of those moments that I believe is misinterpreted. Shepard knows he needs outside help, but he's implying that the Council isn't ideal for that. Due to their reluctance to help in the past, he's probably really saying, "The Council won't help if the fight's strictly on Earth".
What I'm trying to get at here, is that yes, some of the dialogue seems cheesy. But don't always take it straight for what it is. Think about it a little, and it can seem more reasonable.
I agree with everything except your explanation for "The fight is here" line. Shepard should know what the Reapers do when they invade the galaxy. They don't target just one planet. They target everything. The entire civilized galaxy.
That "The fight is here" line shouldn't be a problem since within 5 seconds before or after that line (can't remember), Anderson acknowledges the fight will be everywhere soon and Shepard needs to unite the forces of the Galaxy (exactly what you basically state he doesn't say). He also says something pretty similar before saving Shepard from falling and right after meeting the kid. The whole "Anderson doesn't know what he's talking about" argument is false enrcouraged by analysing lines without context of conversation or mood. Maybe people just aren't paying attention to what's being said and are too busy making up their minds about how bad the writing is.
Well that's Anderson who says the fight will be everywhere, not Shepard. And that's my point. Out of everyone who knows anything about the Reapers and what they do, Shepard should be more aware than anyone else that the Reapers attack everything. Yet, Anderson has to point it out to him.

SLAVE GIRL HUG?!Chomposaur wrote...
"The fight is here" is pretty corny, makes Shepard sound like an idiot. The kid scene was kind of goofy but not nearly as bad, but Bioware always tries too hard to make "emotional" scenes. Shepard hugging the slaver girl in ME1's colonist mission was pretty bad. Not to mention the 5 or 6 times someone shoots themselves in the head in that game to try and force drama.
ALL MY TEARS, BIOWARE, I CRIED THEM.
Saren's "it's too late for me" was corny, yeah, but when he SHOT HIMSELF? I think I sh*t myself.
Not saying Mass isn't full of cheese, but where the cheese lies? Subjective.

-The lame kid
-The plot holes
-The vacuous characters
-The cliche missions
-The rushed plot
Let's not forget the AMAZING opening sequence:
>"Hi Shepard!"
>"Oh no rapers!" =(
>"Shep wut do???"
>"WE FIGHIT THEM!"
>Boom boom blam blam
>"The raper accidentally the kid!"
>"Imma save the unverse now, kthxbye"
Taking out the trial was the perfect decision. Who needs story development when you can just get straight to the action. You know what? Having a story is a distraction. There needs to be a mode where you just shoot stuff in a long, blank corridor, that way the gamers can focus on what really matters.

Indoctrination doesn't simplify anything. It creates conflicts where there wouldn't be and makes the Repaers more than giant space robots who can go pewpewpew. It gives the Reapers character and cosmic-horror flavor they need to be interesting.
