This is what happens when you praise rubbish writing (ME2) and nobody in the media has the balls to call them out on it.

Success goes to their head and it gets worse.

It's like putting a drunk at the helm of Apollo 11.

well what the hell the story at least from the demo sounds like ass garbage and the dialogue Oh my god I mean dam really some of the lines in the demo are so bad its not even funny . they claim to have a emotional story well unless I see more this is nothing more than a old alien invasion story with some pathetic one liners . you bioware fan boys can not handle the truth about the story

I know, right? I hate those Bioware fanboys! You know, the ones who have an account on their forums, are named after a story-related faction in their video games and whose avatar is the main character of their most successful video game? Those guys are so ignorant and blind... <_<

All the dialogue and interactions between characters are heavily butchered down in this demo, imo. Just wait till the full game to see, then judge...

If we want to discuss successful video game franchise then that would go to Call of Duty . but back to your comment . I am a fan of the idea of Cerberus standing up for humanity and a fan of Shepard the idea of one man or woman can make a difference .

Man, I don't get this board.

You can take any line of dialogue from any book or game and morph it into a piece of **** by putting out your absurd opinion and trying to look at it from a different point of view that would make it look idiot, but when you're actually reading or listening to it, you would never look at it from that perspective.

You guys do nothing but jump at whatever to just **** and complain. I'm surprised that Bioware even comes here for feedback as everything people shout here is nothing short of jumbled hate and incoherent statements about something that could probably not even be related to the game.

Also, hence, it's a demo and it's been confirmed by Bioware that lines of dialogue have been cut out as to make room. Do you guys know what that means? Some conversations won't make any sense at all and may seem oddly short because...well, you guessed it! There is missing dialogue!

This board is nothing short of being primitive. I suggest you all grow up and examine what you're typing before you add more garbage to the internet.

Look, don't get your panties in a wad. A demo is meant to sell the game, is it not? That means Bioware put their best foot foreward. They would'nt release a junky demo just so they could tell everyone "Hey don't worry! It's not really that bad!"

The intro is like watching a B grade movie. I think it's the worst of the series. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Don't really understand picky gaming noobs talking back to Thalorin...makes no sense.  This isn't a junky demo....the main point of a video game demo is not to put their best foot forward*** the point is to show what kind of gameplay and features to expect. Who the heck would want to play a video game after seeing the best parts of it??  Yes, I want to pay 80 dollars for a CE of a game when I've already played the best parts of the game in the demo.  All of you people complaining and whining about stupid crap like dialog when it's a DEMO are going to buy the game anyways.  Honestly, I think you people have nothing better to do than to complain about stupid crap like this.  Go play some games you deserve like Bomberman: Act Zero or Jumper: Griffin's Story.  Maybe then you'll see how well you have it when you get a game like ME3.

I loved the writing in the first part of the demo.

A scared and innocent civilian tells Shepard he/she can't save him...

Anderson later looks to Shepard for reassurance that they can save everyone...

A few moments later, Shepard watches that innocent civilian die and there isn't a damn thing he/she can do about it..except run away.

Simple. Subtle. Powerful. Good stuff. Far from poor writing. Keep in mind, Bioware's facial animation technology can't support traditional film acting, which is crucial to making film/theatre style writing come alive. Check out LA Noire to see what I mean.

Let me just edit this to make my point clear.  If I watched the first two movies in that trilogy I would know what's going on for one.  Another thing is that ME3 is going to have one of those interactive comic things like they did in the PS3 version of ME2.  I mean I don't get what the big deal is.....make a list of complaints and maybe I will, and I mean legit complaints....with proper reasoning.

I can summarize the entire mass effect 3 intro in four words: Reapers invaded, Shepard left.

That is awful. There was no emersion, it was a shooting gallery on a planet you don't care about.

Just so I'm totally clear on the argument here, the problem is that Bio shouldn't have simply assumed that ME players would care about Earth?

Seriously?

(And btw, it's "immersion.")

He said in his opinion....ffs information hunter.  If you've ever played many game demos in your life, you would know that they always cut out parts and that the demo does not represent the finished product.

If Bioware was like all other developers who actually discuss the game and talk about things such as story and weapon weight is connected to powers re charge time . then maybe I would be less negative . But no they went all dark after the leak happened and now all of a sudden . they say hey watch The Walking Dead on sunday for a cgi trailer for the game . I am sorry I and many others want to see some more info about the game . the dialogue in the demo is god awful . Shepard acts like a mindless soldier with no emotion at all through out the demo .

LOL@needing a better introduction for a trilogy where you should already know what's going on.  oh em gee wtf is going on tell me need moar intro!

An introduction is more than just telling a person what's going on. Bioware butchered what was supposed to be one of the most turbulent parts of the game: sacrificing Earth.

Instead of it being a difficult time for Shepard and a important aspect of the main story arc, it turned out to be, " rapers r here, tiem to shoot gunz, bam bam boom bam".

They could have cut out the entire scene on Earth and it would have made absolutely no difference in regards to the game. They should have just made it into a comic book like they do other major aspects of the story.

You tell me how that would've happened in a real life situation then, granted this is fiction but wtf are you gonna do?  Go battle in the UK or go get all the species to help you and run into problems along the way??  Me, I would go out to get help ASAP.  Plus, I would figure this is like the 3rd or 4th time I repeated this, but this is a demo...not finished product on shelves.

Edit: Let's stand around and talk and have lengthy conversations even though giant machines are coming for our ass like NOW.  That's smart.

I care about my Earth. I don't inherently care about a fictitious
version of it, populated by fictitious people.  If an author is trying to craft an emotionally
weighted situation, they must create a connection between the reader (player) and
the situation at hand.

There is no reason the player should care about these
fictitious people, it is the author's job to make them.

So no.

It has already been stated that the intro in the demo is the intro used in the final game. The only difference is that there is some missing dialog.

And you are not even addressing my complaint.

This thread make me think if the world-class writers posting in here were in charge, ME3 would be the length of Dragonball Z, with each conversation being so drawn out and trivialized that it lasted entire missions long.

On the bright side of that, the game would be about 500 hours longer;

Seriously guys, I saw NOTHING wrong with the demo's writing. I'm not a world-class writer, but I am a very picky critic when it comes to sci-fi.

So glad I can finally say goodbye to this forum, now that the series is over and ME3 is almost here.

Goodbye and so long, all of you long-winded, blithering buffoons. May you perpetually argue in internet purgatory til the end of your days.

the Intro captured a perfect air of the end coming and how they just weren't ready, the kid is showing how the every day lives of billions of people just ended Figuratively and literally

there was plenty to it
