I knew the game was going to have it's fair share of cheese, but that demo contained some of the most ham-fisted dialougue I've ever seen in a bioware game. I mean it was just filled with dumb one liners and stilted conversations.
Is this what I can expect the rest of the game to be like?

We kind of knew this since the script leak, unfortunately. The game shifted to an action movie rather than trying to be scifi.

I care about my Earth. I don't inherently care about a fictitious
version of it, populated by fictitious people.  If an author is trying to craft an emotionally
weighted situation, they must create a connection between the reader (player) and
the situation at hand.

There is no reason the player should care about these
fictitious people, it is the author's job to make them.

So no.

Well obviously you're gonna be more immersed if you played the last two games.  Honestly, it makes no sense at all to play or watch the last part of a trilogy when you don't even know what's going on.  Not saying I don't think people can't buy the game, but obviously you're going to be more into it if you've played the other two games before this one and have carried your Shepard through hell and back while fighting against the Reapers.

they should make Earth matter to Shepard since he or she is a human after all . there is no distress on Shepard's face like dam I have to leave my home planet to gather allies .

youmena  other then the breife face of sorrow at the kid dying, then a grim determination?

Shepard cant afford tot break down and cry

No its clear he has to go play collect allies instead of fighting a war .

you can speed through it like a ****** if you want.

There was not much story content in the demo. I don't see where alls the butthurt is coming from.
Not the writers job to make you care about a planet you actually live on!
You should already care, in game prose is not likley to change your views or soften your heart of stone if you don't.
Do not confuse delivery with script. It 'The writing' was fine, the pacing was a little off at first but got better.
Y'all need to calm down, check your presciptions and go outside for ten minutes

There is a feeling of uncertainty about Shepard, as though he doesn't really know what to do. Even going to the Citadel for help was proposed by Anderson. I think Shepard feels disillusioned by his experiences. He fought Saren and the Geth, he fought the Collector's, and still the Council races refused to acknowledge the Reaper threat and the Alliance military failed to adequately prepare for the Reaper invasion. Maybe there is no adequate preparation against the Reaper. Maybe the only chance organic life has is born of desperation in the face of extinction.

The whole feel of the demo Earth mission is one of confusion. Lunar colony has gone dark. (A minute passes.) Look, the Reapers have landed! Anderson is really the man of the hour; Shepard just followed along for the most part. If you look at it this way, the mission isn't so bad. It's kinda like when Shepard just returned from the dead, and he has no idea what to do on the Cerberus station except staying alive and following Jacob and Miranda's lead.

Why does everyone keep saying "instead of fighting a war"? The point of ME3 is to save the galaxy, not piddle around trying to shoot Reapers with your assault rifle while Earth is razed. What war are you thinking of fighting without allies? That makes no sense, and I don't see why someone would expect something different. They've pretty much been saying that's how it would go since the beginning.

Except it sort of is, years ago we had Star Trek fans collectively facepalming at the "action"-oriented movies and how it lacked what the original Star Trek had. Introducing the "action" made it different from the originals, it wasn't the same thing because it tried to be an action movie more than scifi.

Deep Space Nine wasn't "action" but it had action elements, it was atleast more well-recieved by the fans than ST: Nemesis and the like.

ME3 is ST: Nemesis.

Well I'm banking on the 'Bioware cut story content' theory cause as it stands the intro sucks.

I presume you're talking about TWOK and up? TMP isn't anyone's idea of an action picture.

And I really wouldn't say that Star Trek fans "collectively" were facepalming. There were a few cranks, that's it.

Yeah, mostly the "New Generation" era of film.

quality of writing? well, there was some cheese, but it's a demo as earlier mentioned, I just hope for less cheese when we're on earth when Shepard is prognosticating vague advice to the three person panel.

So you think they put the crappy bits in a demo huh? The "it's just a demo" arguement doesnt work for poor writing as I said in the DA2 demo.

That doesn't really stand up to rational analysis, though. It's not like Nemesis had any more action than TWOK. It just wasn't as good a film.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. This is just another Bioware/Ea/Dr. Pepper promotional campaign.

The scene of the reapers invading earth was simply done to recreate the genius behind that recent diet soda ad. ;)

It was far better than hearing people repeated say the exact line "THEY ARE SO POWERFUL" for the reapers
